## What is Trustypic?

An image reaches you in a message, or you come across it on a feed, and you hesitate. Trustypic examines the traces of origin it carries, then explains what it found in plain language, without jargon.

WHAT TRUSTYPIC EXAMINES

• Official origin statements
Images produced by major generative models increasingly carry a standardised statement describing how they were created. Trustypic reads it. This is the strongest signal there is: a declaration by the producer itself, not an inference.

• Generator signatures
An image's software field often gives away the tool that produced it. Trustypic recognises around thirty generators, and tells apart those that create an image from those that merely retouch or upscale it.

• Camera metadata
Make, model, capture date, settings, and consistency between timestamp and GPS position.

• Compression consistency
Error level analysis highlights areas recompressed differently from the rest the trace local editing sometimes leaves behind.

• C2PA provenance signatures
The standard backed by Adobe, Microsoft, Google, Nikon and Canon to certify where an image comes from.

WHAT YOU GET

A score, a plain-language summary, and every signal found with its explanation. The report also states what it does not prove which is what lets you put it to fair use.

Export it as a PDF and share it. Your last twenty analyses remain available.

WHAT TRUSTYPIC DOES NOT DO

It returns no final verdict, and no tool can. A generated image stripped of its metadata may leave nothing readable behind. Conversely, a genuine photo sent through a messaging app loses its metadata and will look less documented than it is.

Trustypic gives you what you need to form a view. The conclusion is yours.

EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

Analysis runs entirely on your iPhone. No image is sent anywhere, no account is required, no data is collected. Your analyses never leave your device.

WHO IT IS FOR

Journalists and fact-checkers, teachers, online buyers facing a doubtful listing, recruiters reviewing a portfolio, and anyone who would rather look before sharing.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-06

This release fixes and sharpens the analysis engine.

• Camera metadata is now read correctly. Photos were wrongly reported as having no camera, and image generator signatures were never examined.
• New: reads the standardised origin statements that major generative models write into the images they produce.
• The list of recognised generators grows from 7 to 24, and now tells creation tools apart from retouching ones.
• Analysing large photos no longer exhausts memory: high-resolution images could cause the app to close.
• Results now state what they do not prove, and the app no longer claims to validate a signature it has not verified.
• French translation completed: the PDF report and error messages had remained in English.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-04-25

Trustypic is evolving with a clearer and more useful approach.

* New narrative report to better explain what an image may reveal
* Improved local analysis with a more readable interpretation of detected clues
* Better presentation of metadata, visual consistency, and provenance
* Improved PDF export
* Many fixes for stability, interface, and localization

Trustypic does not aim to deliver a magic verdict. It helps users read the clues, understand what looks reassuring, what raises questions, and what it may suggest.

### 1.0 — 2026-04-23
