### 2/5 — Ok for timetable but otherwise need to enter life story

*2025-08-27*

I am preparing for my next visit to Sheffield and may use the SuperTram. The app lets me see the timetable & route map but to buy the tickets on line I’m asked for a lot of irrelevant info that I just don’t want to provide. I therefore decline to use it & Sheffield will probably lose a couple of public transport users.
I buy online travel tickets throughout the UK and USA by simply pressing my ApplePay or once off credit card details. Quick and easy.
This app is too top heavy in asking for details so I assume it is designed by a bureaucrat without much insight into user needs and usage. Don’t trust these type of people to keep my info safe in the current global hacking environment.
Keep it simple.

### 1/5 — Unbelievably complicated payment

*2025-06-21, version 20.02.17*

Buying a tram ticket involves filling out the following form fields:

Full name, street address, country, state/province/region/county, city/town, zip/postal code/eir code, phone number (defaults to the us), card number, expiry, security code, cardholder name.

I'm not joking.

### 1/5 — Worst app! Stuck on loading page

*2025-05-13*

Very embarrassing situation as i was denied entry even after having valid ticket as app was stuck on loading page although full 5G network was available. I tried putting phone on aeroplane mode to reset network and again tried opening app , which failed to open!! I was denied entry by bus driver. Worst situation of my life due to loser application.

### 2/5 — Missing functionality

*2025-04-10*

Doesn’t allow purchase of single or return tickets only day and week passes. Needs improvement.

### 2/5 — glitchy

*2025-03-31*

been using the tsy app for around six months now and have always been happy but lately everytime I try to plan a journey it just glitches and removes everything I’ve written before telling me how to get there. a shame as it’s previously been very reliable

### 1/5 — Stressful purchase as the tram was approaching

*2025-03-17*

You’ve made buying tickets a fun experience. Ever heard of Apple Pay or Google Pay? Let’s spent nearly five minutes trying to buy a ticket on the day as the tram was coming to the stop and then hoping it would go through on the tram. Absolute garbage app.

### 1/5 — Limited tickets available

*2025-01-14, version 1.2*

No return tickets are available to buy on the app! You should be able to buy any ticket you advertise! Not very good!

### 2/5 — Basic app if your buying tram tickets

*2025-01-06, version 1.2*

This is a tram only review.
Basic app to buy tickets but not many payment options.
Why no Apple Pay? and I assume no google pay.
Leads you to believe they have live tram times but it’s just the timetable, this is misleading.
Could do with pushing through alerts to let you know of delays etc.
No option to buy single or return ticket only day riders or more.

### 1/5 — Marius

*2024-12-14, version 1.2*

Why I dont see sny qr code?

### 1/5 — Rubbish payment system

*2024-12-12, version 1.2*

The payment part of this app is awful. You don’t need all my personal details to sell me a ticket. According to other review comments you’ve been trialing Apple Pay since April. Really. Any chance we might get a functional modern app, please?

### 3/5 — Works OK

*2024-09-18*

Please revise the app so any active ticket QR codes load automatically on the first page when the app opens. A user shouldn’t have to click twice to go wallet>ticket in order to access their ticket.

Otherwise straightforward to use for purchasing tickets.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for this feedback. We changed the default page to make people aware of the new Journey planning feature, but we will look at changing the default page back to the ticket wallet page now it has launched.

### 1/5 — No single or return tickets!?

*2024-08-23, version 1.2*

Forces you to buy day ticket minimum, can’t select a single or return ticket like on the website.

### 1/5 — Basic and no Apple Pay

*2024-07-08*

Why is the App not linked to the TSY web account, why is there no Apple Pay as promised in April 2024 in the terms.

It feels like the App is 10 years out of date and just looks so basic. Could we please have some modern features like tram tiles in real time, Apple Pay, not having to enter my card details and address every time I want to pay.

**Developer response:** Hi, we're working at getting Apple pay functionality into TSY Mobile asap. In the meantime you can save your payment details, including your billing address, so you should only need to enter these once. The screen where you enter your payment details should have a tick box to save your details. These are held by our payment service provider, not by SYMCA or the app, so are totally safe.

We also have now launched the new Journey Planner and Live Departures features, so you now have the live tram times that you're after.

You're right that you need a separate account for TSY Mobile. Integrating TSY Mobile and MyTSY is something we may look at in the future, however currently this is not under development.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-06-03, version 20.02.20*

Total waste of time… app does not work.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2025-12-23*

I’m not a regular bus user but decided I might give the bus a try so downloaded this app to get some information the journey planner bit is quite good . But there are no bus fares for individual one way or return tickets absolutely ridiculous that you can only buy a day rover or more . I’ll stick with the car or taxi then

### 1/5 — Update makes app worthless

*2025-12-22*

Recent update totally changes the planner mode making it impossible to follow and use, removed telling u the time of the trams and arrive times and instead forces a map system that no one asked for. App is worthless now and whoever designed the update must not have a brain and whoever approved the update must have zero business sense whatsoever.

### 1/5 — Glitchy and poor usability

*2025-12-19*

Not sure what’s changed recently but the search for live departures used to work well, you could opt for ‘use my location’ but that seems to have disappeared. Instead you can type location but it doesn’t serve up nearest geo results so it’s gone backwards there in terms of development. It repeatedly asks you to allow location but doesn’t use cookies to store it. You can’t access log in details so if you need to reset password good luck. Won’t be using anymore as a journey tool, will attempt to use the timetable qr scanned links instead. Really poor.

### 1/5 — awful

*2025-09-23, version 20.02.17*

app completely busted

### 1/5 — Bought ticket with nothing showing

*2025-07-28, version 20.02.17*

Bought a week ticket and when I tried to show it, it never loaded. Money came out of my account but it’s stuck on the payment page

### 1/5 — Still waiting for easier payment options

*2025-07-24*

What has happened to the promised addition of Apple Pay (and Google Pay)? Responses to reviews a year ago said it was in testing and expected in the next few weeks. Please enter the 21st century and sort this out!

### 1/5 — Still no Apple Pay

*2025-07-10, version 20.02.17*

Responses to earlier reviews suggest this was happening soon. A year down the line and it’s still a massive pain to make a payment. Any ETA for Apple Pay?

### 1/5 — Times are not correct.

*2025-07-10, version 20.02.17*

I use the tram frequently and the times which are stated on the app do not marry with the times on the boards. I like to use the tram as a sustainable alternative to travel but when you can’t rely on it - what’s the point.

### 1/5 — Poor app can’t login anymore or reset psssword

*2025-07-04, version 20.02.17*

Obviously forgotten password. Cannot login anymore. Tried reset password but doesn’t send email with code. Not in junk Mail either. Out of curiosity tried to create account with same email address and it says it already exists. Stuck in limbo with an app I can’t use anymore.
This needs attention.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great customer support

*2026-02-05*

Accidentally bought 2 tickets for my journey. Needed to call the TSY office for a refund. Call was answered quickly and professionally, and the issue was resolved after a short wait on hold and a quick chat to a rep.

### 5/5 — Finally Apple Pay 🙌🙌

*2025-10-20*

Thanks for adding Apple Pay, the app is way more convenient now. Still missing live times/tracking for trams

**Developer response:** Hi Ethan! Apple Pay should be arriving shortly, we're working closing with our payment service provider to get this in place as quickly as possible. In the meantime, be assured that your payment details are extremely safe - we use a major payment provider, trusted by banks and fully PCI DSS compliant to handle all this for us. We don't process them or hold any of your payment details ourselves.

Regarding live information - That's something that should be coming to the app in the future. Just keep an eye out for updates.

### 5/5 — helpful

*2025-04-15, version 20.02.10*

easy to use, helpful, handy

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-03-23, version 20.02.10*

Quick and easy. Plus there’s a route planner with the times of bus and tram. Love this

### 5/5 — Great stuff

*2024-10-14, version 1.2*

Excellent work, thank you!

### 5/5 — Journey plan

*2024-09-13, version 1.2*

Journey plan is a great addition - good work team.

### 5/5 — Works as intended

*2024-03-22*

No issues so far. Can buy tickets when needed. The addition of Apple Pay would be greatly appreciated though

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review. Apple Pay should be arriving very soon!

### 5/5 — Very user friendly

*2024-03-21*

Regular traveller on the tram and this app is really clear and easy to use

**Developer response:** Thanks D4ve E! We're pleased you like the app and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

### 4/5 — Good for basic use

*2024-11-29, version 1.2*

It’s great we have an app for the tram, especially since it came under public ownership but if you could show where the trams are, like the Stagecoach app did, that would be even better. When that happens it’ll be 5 star review (as long as it works!). Update 29.11.24 I can’t have had my specs on when typing as I hadn’t noticed my autocorrect had changed tram to team!! Thanks for adding the live departures, but does it show on a map where the trams are, or just when it’s expected to arrive? I’ll try it when I’m next waiting for one.

### 4/5 — Concise

*2024-03-26*

Easy to buy fares and straightforward to use, plus it finally has a digital version of the monthly student pass which is GREAT!

However Apple Pay is sorely needed as this would circumvent the need to collect everybody’s addresses which is surely not needed for a local tram fare app.

A top-up card would also be a nice addition as you could both set it to be a transit card and it would allow parents to send their kids fare when they’re short.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. We aim to have Apple Pay in place within the next few weeks, our payment provider is in final phase of testing this now. We don't collect your address details, these are collected by our trusted payment provider and not by SYMCA or the app. We're also releasing a feature to top up smart cards shortly too!
