### 4/5 — Teaching Textbooks: Algebra 1

*2026-02-18, version 4.0.884*

Good morning, evening, or afternoon,

Teaching Textbooks was introduced to me by a friend— I am currently a Junior in Highschool, however home schooled. Your textbooks have helped me in many ways, and I really do appreciate your work, however I would like to point out that I would be grateful if the scratchpad had a far better eraser, as it often glitches.
Unfortunately, as you can tell when I pointed out I am a Junior doing home schooling, I am very far behind in math than the average public schooler. I understand that what I am about to say may seem like oversharing, but I feel as though it would be better to express to help you understand my situation . . . But, I have really bad ADHD and I struggle to concentrate during these lessons. It is harder since I cannot fully grasp what is being taught. I feel, personally, that if perhaps the lectures were longer and more in depth, one might be able to grasp the concepts thrown at them.

I appreciate what you do and are doing and thank you for (possibly) considering what I have said.

 Thanks,
 a Teaching Textbooks user

### 2/5 — Cheeky

*2025-08-25, version 4.0.884*

Kinda cheeks ngl

### 3/5 — come on now

*2025-08-22, version 4.0.884*

love this program with my whole heart, but when i downloaded it onto my phone, i couldn’t log in because the stupid keyboard didn’t have an exclamation mark.

### 3/5 — Bro not cool

*2025-02-04, version 4.0.884*

On lesson 94 there is a question that is literally impossible to type in because they did not give you enough room the question is “4xyz + xyz” and the answer is obviously 5xyz but they did not put enough room for the answer so you can only type “5xy”
The rest on the lessons are ok though except for the True or False questions

### 4/5 — DEVELOPERS PLEASE READ

*2024-10-31, version 4.0.884*

BRUH WHAT HAPPENED IT ERASED ALL MY LESSON PROGRESS

### 2/5 — App Crashes Constantly

*2024-09-10, version 4.0.884*

I have been in the middle of lessons and the app crashes 3 to 4 times a day I use it! Please fix this issue it is very irritating.

### 2/5 — A Buggy Mess

*2024-01-27, version 4.0.883*

Sometimes in a lesson it will play the first 3rd of the lesson and then just freeze. Sometimes I can fix it sometimes I can’t. There are a lot of other problems to, like it randomly crashing, the scratch book not working, imputing the right answer and it is marked as wrong, and a few others I can’t remember right now. Please fix it.

### 4/5 — Annoying keyboard

*2023-09-12, version 4.0.880*

The app is great for school but the keyboard is annoying. The buttons are way too small and i keep clicking the wrong one or didnt click anything at all. I never get my password right and its just so frustrating

### 3/5 — Can you retake tests

*2023-08-16, version 4.0.880*

I dont know how to retake them

### 3/5 — Give second chances

*2022-12-15, version 4.0.863*

Great teaching but stopped giving second chances for no reason

### 4/5 — Good, but could be better

*2022-08-03, version 4.0.853*

I found it easy to use. It’s a little laggy sometimes, but not too bad. The animations are pretty childish, so I just turned them off. Overall I think the app is pretty good, but there is one thing I’d like to add. There should be a place where all the rules, terms, etc. should be. It would be great for studying, and much easier than going through every lecture again. I hope this helps.

### 3/5 — Update Please

*2022-02-23, version 4.0.837*

•Eraser button on scratchpad is delayed and takes long to continue to work.
•Answer Key and Ebook on Parent side sometimes says that it hasn’t finished loading when I need it.
•Overall layout is confusing.
•I would like to see a saved version of the scratchpad work that my child did so that I could go back and check and explain things that he may have not understood.

### 4/5 — Nice app… just a few issues

*2021-06-07, version 4.0.733*

Pros
MUCH better than the online version. As an 8th grade student it is a very useful app especially with the note pad that I can use with my s-pen letting me go paperless. The audio is high quality and enjoyable to use. It’s somewhat customizable to your appreciation, like wallpapers and certain sounds.
Cons
The animations seem very childish and take away from focusing on your math. It could use some editing, for ex: sometimes a lesson will be cut short or will skip a few words at the end. When using a Bluetooth keyboard the on screen one would not hide and let your own keyboard take control. A little buggy, but I assume that will be fixed with future updates.

Otherwise, thanks tt math!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I hate the sound

*2026-03-16, version 4.0.884*

Every time you go to watch another video the sound is always on. The quotes at the end of the lesson aren’t encouraging. Hints barely give actual hints ( the hints don’t help ). The lesson problems are always a random number, EXAMPLE: one day I have 21 problems, the other I have 25 problems. STICK TO ONE NUMBER!!!!!!

### 1/5 — Absolutely horrible

*2024-08-06, version 4.0.884*

The lessons were so incredibly hard to understand and there were no review lessons, I would 100% not recommend, it is so confusing and honestly torture to do

### 1/5 — Doesn’t help

*2023-06-06, version 4.0.873*

It’s alright, but it uses formulas that are way to complex to get an easy answer and doesn’t help I would not recommend

### 1/5 — Lack of teaching

*2023-04-21, version 4.0.868*

Whenever gone into a lesson this dude has lack of teaching skills, when answering questions its questions that he hasn't taught, so whenever stuck on a question i got back and look through lessons but it's no where to be taught lazy teacher

### 1/5 — Not the best app!

*2023-03-27, version 4.0.868*

Not the best app. The buttons are too close it keeps glitching. It keeps going on and off needs and update!!!! I wouldn’t recommend this app!

### 1/5 — Terrible teaching skills

*2023-02-09, version 4.0.867*

The guys who teach explain the lesson in a much harder way than in an easier way, it’s very hard to understand. I can go on YouTube and look up a much easier way to understand

### 1/5 — bad

*2022-12-01, version 4.0.863*

mid math i prefer school

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2022-06-27, version 4.0.848*

I cannot even access my lessons, it says “STILL LOADING.. Check back later” it’s been 2 months.

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2021-09-29, version 4.0.823*

Terrible UI and bad math teaching. This app is when an old person tries to make a cool math experience for kids. Absolutely awful as you can imagine.

### 1/5 — no

*2021-02-26, version 4.0.681*

no

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Sound

*2025-08-29, version 4.0.884*

You can not turn off the sound which I find slightly annoying.

### 5/5 — I’m confused

*2024-03-22, version 4.0.884*

I received the teaching textbook dvds for algebra 1 and I put in my email and password and I thought that it would be an “account” for this app. Is it only for buying it? Help is appreciated.

### 5/5 — Great program

*2023-09-08, version 4.0.880*

There is no perfect program but for math, this has been a wonderful app for my kids to use. It allows them to learn and have fun with the stickers and wallpaper. I know that my kids have learned higher math so much better because of using this program. By example of this is my older kids have been able to help their younger siblings with different things because I believe they learned it so well. I don’t do so well in the higher math, but teaching textbooks has allowed my kids to learn without needing my help. Plus-all grading is inclusive. I don’t have to do anything-even better!

### 5/5 — Works well

*2022-09-05, version 4.0.853*

Teaching Textbooks has vastly improved my children’s math skills and simplified that area of school. There are many reasons why I’m loving Teaching Textbooks. I guess the top are, that they are able to rewatch a video several times which was a great relief to my daughter who struggles in math… no more frustrated teacher becoming impatient, which was a problem in her last school. I appreciate how much easier it is now because of our ability to leave the house yet continue their math while we travel. And since they immediately grade the lessons, I’m able to see any problems they’re having immediately. I would like the scratch pad work to be saved in an update at some point, so I could see where they’re going wrong, that would be a nice improvement. But I can still see which problems gave them trouble, go back and have them do the problem again in front of me and then I can help them from there. Overall, solid curriculum which can simplify the math part of your day at least!

### 5/5 — Pretty good

*2022-08-15, version 4.0.853*

I used this app for school for a year. It was pretty good, not many bugs, I don’t know why it only has 2.9 stars.

Also I love the funny word problems and wallpapers

### 5/5 — Awsome

*2022-03-08, version 4.0.846*

This product is great except the scratch pad is a little hard to use, but you can still just use a notebook!

### 5/5 — Please add hardware keyboard support

*2021-03-29, version 4.0.711*

Please please please please please please please please please
Please add support for the keyboards so it’s easier to type answers to problems, type password, and login.

### 5/5 — Please add hardware keyboard support

*2020-12-17, version 4.0.629*

Please add support for hardware keyboards so it’s easier to type answers and password/login.

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2026-03-25, version 4.0.884*

It isn't flawless, but it's very good. I don't think it deserves 5 stars because there are a few bugs. But besides of that, I see no problems! (No pun intended) So yeah, the questions are challenging, you can choose a background, and you can check your grades! And one thing that I really like is if we're going on vacation, I can just pause it so I don't waste any days. I highly recommend it if your looking for something consistent. 4 stars

### 4/5 — It’s…

*2026-03-09, version 4.0.884*

Ok, I would like to start off by saying this app is definitely thorough by constantly reviewing old stuff while keeping up with new lessons, most of the time TT explains the lesson very well, but on occasion they do not give you same “work” as he taught in the lecture. I only have two complaints about this math course, #1
The downloads… i find it very inconvenient to have to redownload my lessons that I have already completed just to look back at old problems. #2 when first starting Algebra 1 he gives a very good explanation of how to do the problem, however I have found that later in the course he gets a little.. I wouldn’t say lazy but a little lax on the solution to the problems that I didn’t do correctly. While other times the video might be 5 or so minutes long explaining something that could’ve been explained in just a minute or two
In that case I would say they’re very thorough, but not in the right places. I would recommend this math course to people who are just starting algebra 1 and need someone to walk you through each step.
