I am actually quite happy with the free version of the app now that the voice problem I had is fixed nothing bothers me on the free version so I don't require any upgrade at the moment. I try to stop/play with my headphones when outside yet the audiobook doesn’t stop or doesn’t start when it stops which is annoying. This may be a need to be online problem too, but I found that there are times when it will simply stop working and say it’s a network or server problem. 4. Also it would be great if the pitch of the voice could be changed with a slider like you have for playback speed. 5. Also does not use Wi-Fi. I tested it with great Wi-Fi connection and turned off cellular data and it stopped with a sign that cellular data is turned off. I can’t emphasize enough that I had a great Wi-Fi connection at the time. 6. I would’ve been happy to go on your website to give you these tips, But the website requires a password, which is not required to get into the app so therefore I could not get on the website to make suggestions and it did not recognize my email address. Update: It is working much better for my PDF files and I love the fact that I can read my Kindle books through it. There does not seem to be away from my husband to become a pro user in the app so that he can access his Kindle books, but I was able to do that because I became a pro user. The only issue I have had with it is I will be listening to a book and I’ll stop it and choose a different book. All of a sudden, usually after a page turn, the first book I was listening to will start playing from the beginning interrupting the book (I was currently listening to) This is a problem on two fronts because 1.it interrupts the second book. And 2. It actually causes me to lose my place in the first book unless I made a manual bookmark. This is rather rare but it’s happened a few times. Otherwise this app is the best. It effortlessly reads textbooks, PDFs, and handouts aloud, which is a godsend for students with dyslexia or visual impairments. The lifelike AI voices make listening a pleasure, not a chore. It truly levels the playing field and promotes independent learning for all students. With over 50 languages and realistic voices, students can listen to articles and books in my target language. ### 5/5 — Hana *2026-03-01, version 0.2.88* I am time-poor PhD student that rarely gets any down-time. I listened to an academic paper with TTS Reader Voice Pro while sowing some fabric and absorbed information in a new way. Can’t wait to try this during my commute to work or during exercise! Thank you for making it free. Hoping for a few upgrades, but am encouraged by the frequent updates. 1. Language randomly changes intermittantly to French even though there’s no French in the text. 2) reading hesitates two seconds at the end of each page. 3) there’s no pauses after titles and descriptions, which sounds confusing because it gets blended in to the first sentence of the following paragraph. ### 4/5 — Nearly perfect *2026-02-14, version 0.2.87* The core features work well. I’ve been able to load one ebook and have it play without issues. I do get a pop up telling me to go premium, but the features don’t seem to make sense. Ad free? Haven’t gotten any. Unlimited listening? I thought that was offered by default. Unless this is because I haven’t hit my limit yet. The app is nearly perfect but the UI could use work. Doesn’t pronounce words correctly stops reading after every single paragraph and you have to push play. In the middle of the story, it all starts speaking it in a different language. So I switched to this one, paid for the week. It’s been less than 24 hours and I’m having the same problems. I updated the app, but it didn’t change. It’ll read a couple sentences then just stops. I also dislike how you have to keep the app open on your screen for it to play. Annoying and drains battery life. ### 1/5 — Shady price changes / no dev support. Scammy. *2026-03-23* Was going to buy lifetime at $47 but wanted to ask dev a question first. Messaged developer multiple times through app and emailed but they never replied. Today went back to try and buy lifetime and now it’s $85. Yesterday it was 78. Constantly changing prices with no dev replies is terrible business practice. Plus the app seems like it might be using a hack to “provide” Microsoft azure voices that might get patched at any time. However, the myriad of problems keep me from really wanting to stick with it. The reader tends to stop at random points like stops in the text with special characters, at the end of chapters, and sometimes just can’t read a group of selected text at all. Additionally, sometimes for no apparent reason it can’t read entire chapters, completely removing the option to play text. It’s really unfortunate, because if not for these problems this could easily be one of the best options for text to speech readers. ### 2/5 — Constant server errors *2025-09-01, version 0.2.24* This app is actually very good when it works. I love the fact that it lets me pull up my kindle ebooks so easily. However, I can barely listen 10-15 minutes before the app starts giving me connection/server errors and stops working completely. I love this app. The voices are premium quality and so many to consider. This app is so much better than other Speech apps. Here are other reasons why this app great. Able to bookmark and if you forget to bookmark, the app picks up where you were. The sleep timer. Highlighter text. Able to surf bookmarks. A wide range of fonts and pitch sizes. It seems audiobooks are geared toward more surface level and pop-culture or easily digestible topics, not social theory and political critiques. This app is a great way to get the convenience of an audiobook for any ebooks and PDFs you already own without having to pay ridiculous hidden fees. Be aware that the software is only a reader and does not have the evaluatory ability to know it should skip footnotes & in text citations or pause after the beginning of a new chapter. For me, it’s not a deal-breaker and is still light years better than being forced to sit down and be still for hours on end while I scroll a pdf and can’t multitask. The voice I picked, Emma (multilingual) is great at reading romanized Slavic words, so pronunciation doesn’t distort them to the point of illegibility. ### 5/5 — A Must Have App *2026-04-17, version 0.3.8* TTS Reader Pro: easy to use, simple to add books to.
