I click on an article I wish to read. Instead of opening in the app, it opens in a browser and insists I sign in. I don’t remember my password, so I open the app and the “latest headline” I’m looking for is impossible to find. I give up and wonder why I’m paying for this at all. ### 2/5 — not worth it *2023-12-20, version 5.0* i hardly open this app up because it is always asking to subscribe , subscribe, subscribe. why your app isn't worth it. the news on this app isn't help or interesting. GET REAL guys!! ### 2/5 — Subscription only for only partial content *2023-12-09, version 5.0* I’ve had this app for years, and articles used to be tiered. Some articles were for subscribers only while others could be accessed in the app with a fair amount of ads. The app would frequently crash, and articles listed in alerts would be nonexistent when one clicked on the alert. Now the app has a limit for articles though this was never disclosed anywhere. Payment does not give you access to all articles since some are still marked “for subscribers only.” Apparently subscribing to the app doesn’t count as a subscription. At least other newspaper apps allow a certain number of stories per month. I deleted the app. ### 4/5 — Print edition *2022-08-28, version 4.7.1* Lower the price so I can get back to folding pages!! ### 3/5 — Poor photo formatting *2022-02-01, version 4.7.1* Many minor shortcomings in this app, but the most annoying is the way the photo at the top of an article often appears as if badly cropped, with the upper half of the subject’s head missing. I’d say I would’ve really really really enjoyed it (took it from like a 7 to a 10), if the content was a bit broader! I am now routinely getting notifications that the app is accessing clipboard data. While some may like reading their news with two hands, I do not. But now they added the regular weed report… I just can’t respect a new source like this. Is this what they have to do to get readers now? It’s a sad state of affairs. The Daily Star should just be put out of its misery.
