I cannot move my own money from checking to savings without being told that I cannot and the most embarrassing is when I need to move savings to checking and it denies me!!!!! When it works it’s decent, I like the “stash” and “unstash” feature. Aside from that, the app has been getting CONSTANT error messages over the last week, and won’t open for no reason when the password is correct. Trying to move money around is next to impossible, and to call customer service is a waste of time, since it’s pretty impossible to understand anyone, let alone actually get help. I already reported this to Greendot and nothing has been fixed. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Worse bank to ever have *2026-03-09, version 1.35.0* Just don’t get this bank I can write a book on why NOT but I rather not ### 1/5 — ****DO NOT USE THIS FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT OR ANYTHING AT ALL**** *2025-08-01* Your funds won’t be accessible at all times, when they do their ”scheduled maintenance” you won’t be able to “unstash” money, leaving you in a predicament that you won’t be able to access your money at all period whatsoever, until they resolve the issue on their end and their “maintenance” is done. Secondly, my card expired today and I have my only money sitting in this account and I have absolutely no access to it and I have to wait for them to send a card to the correct address. That is after having to email them my photo id to verify it’s actually me because supposedly their security questions they asked me were wrong. Apparently turbo knows more about me and my life than I do. So now I have to wait for them to process my email, and then, only then, will my card be sent in the mail. I REPEAT, DO NOT USE THIS TO KEEP ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY WHATSOEVER. IF I COULD GIVE THEM 0 STARS I WOULD. SOMEONE SHOULD REPORT THESE PEOPLE TO BETTER BUSINESS BEREAU. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2025-07-15, version 1.35.0* Just use the website, the app has a persistent log in error that needs to be fixed. ### 1/5 — Needs more options *2025-07-04, version 1.35.0* In my opinion I feel that they should have upgraded to virtual cards. The option to expedite the card when it’s being replaced ### 1/5 — This app doesn’t update my balance *2025-06-28, version 1.35.0* The current version of my app and most of them for the past year will not update my balance for days on end. I can add money to my card and nothing happens. Even after I use the card at stores, nothing changes. This is completely unsettling because you don’t know how much money you have. This can lead to completely embarrassing interactions. ### 1/5 — Low Security Holds Your Money *2025-05-31, version 1.34.0* First off they hold your money as long as legally possible before releasing funds and making them usable which is why I won’t move my payroll deposits to this card. Second, security is low. Can’t use special characters for passwords and if you try to use Face ID which adds safety, it cuts it off every few days. It’s like they wants security to be its lowest. ### 1/5 — Do NOT use this *2025-05-14* I’ve had card/app for almost 7 years. Since the beginning, there have been sporadic issues of me not being able to move money from my stash into my checking, causing the most absolutely embarrassing and infuriating moments of my life. Imagine going out to dinner, getting the check, and not being able to pay because you can’t move money from your savings to your checking. Any other banking institution would fail from such an inconsistent feature. That is why I am telling anyone who reads this, do not use this card long. While getting paid sooner is nicer, it’s ultimately frustrating to not be able to use your card regularly like anyone else. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been somewhere and I haven’t been able to pay because the app isn’t working. Or I’ve had to cancel appointments because I wasn’t able to move the money around to pay for it. Absolutely no one should have to deal with these frustrations. And the customer service people cannot help you. They’re 3rd party contractors that have no connections to Greendot. After writing this review, I will be free of their curse. Do not fall for the same trap I did for years. It doesn’t get better and in fact, has only gotten more frequent as time passes. ### 1/5 — Canceled *2025-02-12, version 1.34.0* They canceled my account without any notice ### 1/5 — They close my account just because I open up a dispute *2025-01-31, version 1.34.0* These people stole my money, and I asked Turbo to assist me in this situation not only they did not assist me. They closed my account and took the money that was left of my account for themselves. I am working on filing a claim, a federal claim with the Better Business Bureau for this matter so please if you guys out there with these financial institution, please I do repeat please find some other institution to do business with because TurboTax green dot is not the answer and I will be reporting them with the Better Business Bureau immediately ### 1/5 — Service issues *2025-01-30, version 1.34.0* The whole app is messed up and has been for at least a month or 2 now. Can’t use ANY type of money transfer app, atm, move it from savings to checking, NOTHING. That was a VERY HARD 2 months. I switched for a short while to another banking app, not gonna say who (chime) but they tried to rip me off for an entire paycheck and I left! Came back running to intuit! I’ve had fraudulent charges here once, and intuit quickly flagged the transaction stoping further transactions and canceling card. The transactions still went through however :(! But, I was refunded in a timely matter although I had to jump through their hoops :( you have to post mail a letter to them providing I guess a paper trail that you are serious about the dispute? I didn’t understand why this was necessary but I ended up with a refund! The new card came VERY quickly as well! Surprisingly fast! With that other banking app (chime) it took literally 12 days to get a néw card from them! Like I said some times banking feature work, other times (or banks?) don’t! Apple isn’t compatible with Turbo? Weird right? Anyway! Aside from the $4.95 monthly fee for using this service I have no issues with Intuit’s “bank-like” service. But get no illusions, IT ISN’T A BANK! And like other “banking apps” they are simply out to make a buck off ya just like the banks and every other money service in the world.
