### 5/5 — Love the explanations

*2024-08-18*

I really like this app, I'm going to the Philippines for college in a year so I wanted to touch up on it before I go. I really like how they teach the Grammer and how what it does in a sentence, which was similar to how schools teach teach kids english where I live, so it was easier for me to grasp how to structure the sentence better as my mom taught me that some words are in the sentence because they just are.

### 5/5 — :’) thank you

*2024-08-05, version 1.4.4*

worth it! wonderful app that incorporates filipino culture n is so open to teaching us (specifically those trying to get to our roots). so grateful

### 5/5 — Surprisingly very good lessons

*2024-07-22*

Trying to learn for my wife it’s very good

### 4/5 — Minor issues

*2024-07-10*

I love the app the only issue is that in the practice questions, some answers are wrong for example the question is talking about sara and the answer will talk about andre and you cant get the question right even if it’s correctly written. Otherwise its an awesome app

### 5/5 — Only have done two lessons but…

*2024-06-17*

So far this app is great!! It’s just what I was looking for in a Tagalog learning app. I tried using drops but they don’t teach grammar, which is so ineffective for me personally. I need to know how everything works and this app gives me all the tools I need. I don’t usually leave reviews on apps but I feel like more people should know about this app!! So glad I found it, thank you devs!!

### 4/5 — Good

*2024-06-01, version 1.4.3*

But please make a bisaya I accidentally learned tagalog instead of bisaya 🤨😭

### 4/5 — few glitches, but amazing app nonetheless!

*2024-05-27*

i have been using this app for a few days now, and it's unlike any other apps i've used to learn tagalog before. i've only noticed one minor glitch. while i'm charging my phone, it will crash and exit me out of the app, making me lose my progress in the lesson. it might be totally unrelated to the app though, so who knows!

### 5/5 — No Audio

*2023-12-21*

Useless, they don't include audio in the lessons

**Developer response:** Hello. We’re sorry about the negative experience. Previous versions of the app did not play audio if the device was on Silent but that was not an intuitive design. We have since changed the app to play audio when the phone is on Silent as well as added a bunch of amazing new features. Thank you for trying Turong Wika and we hope this improves your experience.

### 5/5 — Mahusay!

*2023-12-15, version 1.3.3*

This app is so promising! The curriculum is spot-on – no AI guesswork, just accurate translations. Plus, the interface is a breeze to use. Thumbs up for making language learning so easy and legit! Can’t wait for the next Lessons!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App crashing on iOS 17

*2023-12-23, version 1.3.3*

App is crashing again & again on both of my iPhones. When tried to start the app, screen goes blank & takes back to home-screen.

### 2/5 — Used to work better

*2026-03-08*

When the ads show up you can’t close them with the close button. You have to reset the app and that doesn’t work 100% of the time either.

### 3/5 — App review

*2026-01-09*

Like to app but needs more focus on teaching sentence structure.

### 3/5 — Want to love it

*2025-08-26*

I want to love it, but I cannot. The app is pretty simple to use, and the interface isn’t bad. The pronunciations and the information provided about the structure of the language is good. However, the answers don’t always match the instructions given. There are also a lot of grammatical issues in the “correct” answers. Many of the answers that they say are correct are actually wrong, and no one in the Philippines would speak that way. The app isn’t bad for people to pick up some vocabulary, but it could be way better.

### 3/5 — Could be better not bad

*2025-06-26*

Wish app broke down grammar more. Good for learning vocabulary, spelling and pronunciation. Wish it would have a slowed down pronunciation and videos explaining topics.

### 3/5 — Needs more content

*2024-05-28*

Really good app but needs more content. I purchased the lifetime pass hoping that more lessons would be released.

### 3/5 — No audio lessons? Or they don’t work

*2023-12-18*

I can’t believe there is no audio lessons in the first lesson. I had to read how to pronounce vowels?!! Sorry kaibigans, I wanted to try this app but if you’re going to start it off with reading, that’s not a language app. I see buttons that imply audio can be played but they aren’t working.

I’m American Filipino. Born and raised in U.S. first generation. All my Tito’s and Titas speak it but I never learned to be fluent. I have yet to find an app that teaches Tagolog well that’s interactive enough. I was hoping this would be the one.

I downloaded this app because I heard about it from a YouTuber and I like her channel. I’ll continue to support her but I’ll revisit this app when you give it an up to date current look. For now, I wouldn’t recommend this app. Put audio right away. For goodness sake don’t make people read paragraphs. Even if the audio did play, still too much reading! One can easily find blogs on that stuff to read, in bigger font.

Best of luck to you.

**Developer response:** Hello. Firstly, sorry for the negative experience with the app. Your feedback has been extremely valuable and has helped us highlight issues that existed in the app. Since then, we have made a number of amazing changes to the app. Audio used to only play if the phone was not on Silent but we learned that this was not an intuitive design. Audio now plays even when the phone is on Silent. We also created brand new lesson screens to make the app more fun and interactive. Long texts have either been replaced by interactive screens or moved to a brand new Note feature you can find on some screens within a lesson. We hope the changes improve your experience. Thank you for using Turong Wika.

### 4/5 — Really good app! Wish there were more

*2026-07-23, version 3.0.0*

The app is good, I wish we can learn more different types of the Filipino language like waray

### 4/5 — App Purchase

*2024-09-26*

I like the app a lot. It breaks down grammar well. It just doesn’t seem to have an option to upgrade to premium anywhere. I’m not sure how to do that?

### 4/5 — Very good app!

*2024-07-26*

I’ve learned a lot so far and I’m only at the beginning! It’s very helpful and nice to use! Usually on other learning by apps I’ll only use it for one or two days. GET THIS APP!! 👍

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great for proper language learning

*2026-04-23*

Really covers the grammar etc early. This coupled with another simple vocab app is all you need imo.

### 5/5 — great! just one request

*2026-01-14*

this app is the best resource i have found in regards to learning a language! it has great info & adds context to the lessons / explains things in a great way. especially grammar and sentence structure which has been hard for me to learn. there are flash cards and you can make your own sets. i just have one question, when learning the flash cards it has the term in tagalog show up first and i then guess what it means in english and see if i got it right. this is great, but what i really need is to start with the english word and guess it in tagalog. that would help me learn better than the way it is now. is there a way to switch the order of things when learning from the flash cards? i just haven’t been able to find it

### 5/5 — Getting started

*2026-01-06*

Modules 1 & 2 were interesting and easy, included good repetition, good audio and knowledge & mastery assessments.

### 5/5 — Best learning Tagalog app

*2025-11-20*

Only app that takes you to school. Very easy and understandable lessons. Sentence structure etc. it’s actually worth the subscription any plan.

### 5/5 — very good

*2025-10-20*

Best app to learn tagalog

### 5/5 — Best way to learn Tagalog. I wish every language app was like this.

*2025-10-02*

In depth grammar lessons, vocabulary lists, pronoun lists, cheat sheets of every kind, vocabulary cards, and so much more! I'm so happy that Tagalog has such an amazing app to go to. Every time I do a lesson I feel more confident in my Tagalog, and like I'm actually learning. I suggest those using this app to do a lot of immersion as well. You'll see much improvement. My only suggestions are speaking lessons and an immersive section but the app is perfect already. Those things can be done elsewhere. Also, when looking at the word of the day, the app kicks me out when I click on aspects. As a child, I'm so happy that this app is still usable if you can't pay. The last app I used to learn recently paywalled everything and I was so sad! Only to find an app that was so much better and free! Thank you so much for the language help!

### 5/5 — Perfect for grammar!!

*2025-07-15, version 1.4.9*

Worth the monthly cost, well-designed lessons!

It’s AMAZING for nailing the technical aspects of grammar, but it will be up to you to memorize vocabulary.

They have a practice quiz section, but it has a huge variety of vocab (which is awesome!!) so I’m googling a lot 🤣 I’ll admit it’s easier as a child of native speakers

### 5/5 — Finally!

*2025-03-21*

I just downloaded this app last night and have learned more about sentence structure in Tagalog and picked up more words in the two lessons I’ve done so far than all the casual learning I’ve done in my whole life leading up to this. I was bummed that Duolingo didn’t have Tagalog, but I’m so so happy they didn’t because I maybe wouldn’t have found this app. If only they did something like this for Polish - I could learn to speak to my Filipino mom and my bf’s Polish parents! Really great job devs! Cannot thank you enough ❤️🫰

### 5/5 — So much better than Duolingo learning

*2024-09-09*

Fantastic app, teaches in a way that helps you learn a language not just recite vocabulary. So much more effective than the ‘Duolingo’ style of learning.

### 5/5 — OMG!😱 AmAzInG!🤩

*2024-08-19, version 1.4.4*

Very convenient and is good for people with experience and people without.
