### 1/5 — How can they screw up a Compass?

So I’m trying to use this and there’s just absolutely no way you can line up a TV antenna with this app it’s 49° off of what a real Compass says so basically it’s pointing in a whole different direction and I’m just really thankful I don’t have to use this stupid app to find my way home.

**Developer response:** Sorry about that. A ~49° error means the compass is reading the phone's raw magnetometer without a good calibration, which nearby metal, cases, or tilting the phone can throw off badly. Two quick things help right now: hold the phone flat and wave it in a figure-8 to recalibrate, and step away from metal/electronics. We're also reworking it to use the phone's built-in calibrated true-north heading so it lines up with a real compass. Thanks for flagging it.
