## What is TV Cast for Sony Smart TV?

Watch any web-video, online movie, livestream or live tv show on your Sony TV, Hisense TV or VIDAA/VEWD powered Smart TVs. Enjoy the show on your big screen with the no#1 web video streamer.

With Video & TV Cast for Sony TV you can browse the web and stream any web video, online movie, livestream or live tv show you want on your Sony TV. Mp4, m3u8, hls livestreams and also video-over-https are supported.
 
There is no time limit at all! You can watch videos of 2 minutes or 2 hours or even more. Just open Video & TV Cast, navigate to a website, wait for link detection and send the video with a single tap to your Sony TV. The discovered link will be shown below the browser. A tap on the link will start the show. You don't need to install a big media server like Plex or any other third party software.

* To enable video casting please open the App Store on your Sony TV, search for 'TV Cast' and install the companion app.

* If your Sony TV is powered by Google Cast or Chromecast built-in, please download our dedicated App 'Video & TV Cast | Google Cast' to enable casting.

* Please enter the ip-address of your iPhone/iPad by using the number pad and up/down/left/right keys on your Sony Remote. Just enter the numbers, no need to press the enter key.

* iTunes movies, Flash video and DRM protected videos like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, DirecTV, Xfinity, HBO now are not supported!

* Please test your favorite videos with the free edition before upgrading!

* Please use the Remote Playbar for video control while browsing (see more info below)

* The app streams only the video part of a website and not the whole website content (No screen or tab mirroring!). 

* Sometimes it is necessary to play the video on your iPad or iPhone first before it gets discovered by the app for streaming. It may also be neccessary to start casting multiple times until it works with specific videos.

* If a specific video is not working, please check the FAQ on the app startpage. If that does not help you, please drop us an email before leaving a negative comment on the App Store. We will try to add support for that website as soon as possible.

* Remote Playbar: Use the Playbar for advanced video control while browsing, including video scrubbing, forward, rewind, play, pause, stop.

* Local Videos: Cast your camera roll videos from an iPhone or iPad. Supports mp4, m4v and mov videos that were saved to the camera roll via Apples SD-Card/USB Adapter, iTunes Desktop Software or third party apps.

* Ad-Blocker: Blocks ads & popups on most websites and removes the sponsoring ads from the app. You can update and enable/disable ad-blocking at any time in the settings. 

* Bookmarks: Save unlimited website bookmarks. Synchronize and transfer them between different TV Cast apps and iOS devices by using backup and restore via iCloud.

* Desktop Mode: Change the browser user-agent and cloak your iPhone/iPad as a desktop PC to load the desktop website instead of a mobile website. Please note that this will NOT enable video casting on websites that serve Flash videos in desktop mode.

Whenever you are trying to connect this app to TV it directs you to a different app. Waste of time.

What a piece of trash. I downloaded this to cast at an Airbnb, so you can bet I’m not paying for premium. At the free tier you can’t cast from apps and the built-in player pushes ads every couple of minutes, nags constantly. I can’t believe Sony would get behind this.

works as intended, and the stream i pretty good, but if u watch an ad and the loading fails, u then have to watch ANOTHER and hope it works the 2nd try. imo its bad practice to punish us with another ad if your service fails

I rarely ever write bad reviews. Most of my reviews are bc I like the product or at least the idea, even if a product is not refined, yet. However, I do not like to be scammed. I do not like dishonesty. The sole purpose of this app is that you as the gullible customer press the “Buy” button. This app has not trial or freemium option. Once you open it for the first time you immediately get presented with an offer that you fell you cannot miss out: all the options for a third of the price of about $20. In this moment, you do not even know what these options are. I clicked buy, $7 bucks, bc who does not want to safe 60%. Once you look at the in-app options, they are all nano-features that normally would be required to make the app work for its intended purpose of mirroring your screen. This is not the question of a Basic vs Pro version. You need ALL of these in-app purchases to make the app useful. Ok fine, I got tricked into a purchase without actually trying it out.

But then at least the app works, right? Wrong! Even after buying the bundle you are welcomed with a cluttered user interface that looks like a middle schooler on a summer camp threw it together that is nothing but intuitive - just to be redirected to more apps to purchase just to make it work. 

The whole point of this app is to mirror something from your device to a TV, in this case a Sony. A very simple product definition. There is no need for micro in-app purchases - either you can mirror your screen, or you cannot. Period! No user wants a products that only sometimes works under undefined conditions. 

And even in this one simple function the app fails. This app exists in a gazillion confusing (on purpose I allege) versions, this particular one is advertised for Sony, but it does not even function here. Perhaps Sony uses more than one format (in my case Miracast), perhaps the app does not work at all. In any case, it nowhere tells you in the app description that it only works for SOME Sony TV and under WHICH conditions. Again, it misleads the user into buying in the assumption that the app works on ALL Sony TV. Wouldn’t you assume the same if you bought something specially advertised for “Sony”? 

I am a technologist, my background is productizing technology ideas and deliver solutions. I live and breath software (and hardware).  I am not just a disgruntled customer who cannot figure out how a complex app works, but I seriously feel scammed. This is messed up, and even worse - you cannot get a refund.
