## What is TV Next?

There are many TV tracking apps out there, many that people love, but none worked for me. Too cluttered, trying to suggest to me what show I should watch next, share, rate, etc. Probably AI recommendations too.

I don’t want any of that. I just want to know what episodes I’ve watched, and what is next.

You can customize the level of detail shown on the home page. This is everything including the tags on the show, the networks it is available on, remaining episodes, percentage of episodes watched, etc.

You can define tags, including the name, color, icon, and whether or not they should appear as **tabs** on the home page.

This is a free app, with no tracking. There is a tip jar but it is entirely optional and does not change how the app works.

I am very open to suggestions and feedback: tvnext@atadore.com

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-08-01

* When you swipe an episode or a season to mark it as watched, I've added a "date" button to let you select the watched date - handy if you forgot to mark that episode of Silo that you watched yesterday as watched.;
* Once per day, when you open the app it performs an automatic backup, and now when you go to the Settings->Import/Export page you can restore from automatic backups - handy if you accidentally delete something. I save the last 32 days of automatic backups.

### 1.4 — 2026-07-20

* Calendar entries are now sorted by most recent month first;
* You can now search a list of shows by pulling down on the list to expose a search field;
* Significantly improved matching of TV Time shows when importing.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-20

I’ve made several improvements to help you find your place faster, watch more smoothly, and recover from accidental changes.

Import TV Time Exports
Go to Settings->Import Export to import the zip file generated from a TV Time export (TV Time is shutting down).

Sort shows by when you last watched
Widows Bay is a great show, but its name meant it was buried lower in the lists. Now you can sort shows by Last Watched in Settings, so your most recently watched shorts appear at the top of each list.

Apple Watch support
The new Apple Watch app shows you what the next episode is for every show. You can also mark the next episode as watched directly from your watch. I also added complications so you can jump to a specific show quickly, and the large square complication displays the next episode at a glance.

Smoother background refresh
I focused on removing UI hangs that could happen when the app refreshed in the background. The app should now feel more fluid, especially when multitasking.

Better defaults when adding shows
When you add a show, it’s now automatically added to the currently opened tag by default.

Share from the calendar view
There’s a new share button in the calendar view. Share your binge-watching highlights with others, for example if you watched Breaking Bad in the last two months.

Crash fixes
Thanks to everyone who reported crashes. This build includes fixes, but if you still experience a crash, please submit a crash report so I can keep improving.

Confirmation when marking a season unwatched
I added a confirmation when you mark a season as unwatched. This prevents accidental toggles that can wipe your watch history. For example, if you’re currently watching Travelers and accidentally set Season 1 to unwatched, you’ll be prompted before the change is applied.

### 1.2 — 2026-04-27

* You can now tap to mark episodes or seasons as watched (before you had to swipe);
* I've a heat-map calendar so that you can easily see which were heavier days, and how long it took you to binge-watch Person Of Interest;
* I've added a "Stop Demo Mode" button to leave demo mode for those first trying out the app;
* When you mark an episode as watched it will mark all previous episodes as watched (can be turned off in settings) - useful for Anime where there are hundreds of episodes in a "season".

### 1.1 — 2026-03-16

* I now sort shows by name by default, although you can switch to sort by last updated in Settings.
* You can now create widgets so that you can see which episode is next for a show, and marked the episode as watched from the widget.
* You can now import Trakt exports.
