## What is TVdex?

TVdex is a personal tracker for everything you watch (and everything you're about to). Add the TV series and films you love, tick episodes off as you go, and always know what to watch next and what's coming up.

Built local-first and private: no account, no ads, no tracking, no social feed. Your library lives on your device and syncs only to your own iCloud (we run no servers and never see your data).

### 2.3.0 — 2026-08-30

Browsing, not just searching:
- In the **Discover** tab, under Series/Films, a **Filter the catalogue** row. Filters apply while browsing, not while searching by name. Switching from Series to Films clears the genres: the two lists share only eight.
- Below the filter row there are now more carousels: **Trending**, **Popular**, **Top rated**, **Coming soon**, three genre rows, and **Never started** (the titles you added and never began).
- The three genre rows follow the genres you watch most on their own, the same ones the Statistics show. If you'd rather choose: **Settings → Discover → Genres**, up to three, and they appear in the order you pick them.

The poster, in full and you can pick it yourself:
- Tap the poster on a series' or film's page and it opens full screen.
- From a series' or film's "…" menu, **Change poster**. The choice sticks: updates don't overwrite it, it syncs to your other device, it's in your backup, and it's used **everywhere** — lists, the title's page, celebrations, and the image you share.

Two steps out, when you want to know more:
- At the bottom of a series', film's or actor's page you'll find links to **IMDb** and **Wikipedia**, whenever TMDB knows them.
- On a series' or film's page, there's also a **Trailer** section: tap it and it opens on YouTube (or Vimeo, when that's where it lives).

Also in this release:
- Tap the **TMDB rating** on a series' or film's page: it opens the score in full, how many votes it's built on, and the reviews TMDB users wrote.
- Settings has a **Debug** section with a performance log: it times how long the app spends on each operation, so a slowdown can be measured instead of described. **It's hidden**, and shows up when you tap the "Version" row seven times. Not because there's anything to hide: it's useful during testing, and in everyday use it's technical detail nobody needs. The screen spells out what's in it.
- Now in French, Spanish, Dutch and Simplified Chinese, too. If you notice any incorrect translations, please report them to us at support@sergioferraresi.it !

### 2.2.0 — 2026-08-19

Search however it comes to mind.
- Library search now matches the original title too: type "Money Heist" and you'll find "La casa di carta", even though the app shows it in Italian.
- The original title appears under the translated one when the two differ, so you can tell at a glance what you're looking at.
- Titles already in your library fill themselves in: the app fetches their original titles in the background, a few at a time, without slowing down what you're doing.

A nudge to pick a series back up:
- From a series' "…" menu you can ask TVdex to remind you weekly, choosing the day and the time.
- Up to three at a time: the sheet shows which ones they are and lets you free one up.
- The reminder goes quiet by itself when there's nothing to catch up on, or if you pause the series, and comes back when new episodes land, without you setting it again.

Improved sharing:
- The share image is no longer just one: swipe through five each one with its own chart and pick which number goes big: time watched, episodes or films watched, days in a row, top genre, when you'll be caught up.
- From a series' or film's "…" menu and from the end-of-series celebration, you can make a shareable image built around its poster.

Also in this release:
- In the library filters a switch to hide titles that aren't out yet, so your watchlist shows only what you can actually watch. It covers films and series, and each list remembers it separately.
- Syncing between iPhone and iPad also moves far less data: TVdex no longer sends episodes back to iCloud when nothing about them has changed.
- Settings can once again export a backup of your library and restore it: series, films, episodes, viewings, ratings, favourites and lists. Restoring doesn't duplicate anything (what's already there is recognised and updated), not added twice. If a restore is interrupted, it picks itself back up when you return, without starting over and without losing what it had done.
- Same for "Delete all data": if it gets interrupted, the app finishes the job when you reopen it instead of leaving your library half-erased.
- The app is far snappier on long-running series: opening an episode of a show with hundreds of them used to mean waiting several seconds, and now it's immediate. Your library, search and launch feel it too, especially with a big collection.

### 2.1.0 — 2026-08-10

Where to watch, without leaving the app.
- Every series and film now tells you where you can watch it in your country: subscription, free, with ads, rent or buy, each with its own services.
- It's there both on the titles you follow and on the ones you're only browsing from search, before you add them.
- When nobody carries a title where you are, it says so instead of leaving you guessing.
- "Where did you watch it" reads better too: platforms are in alphabetical order, each says whether it's subscription, rental or ad-supported.
- Availability data comes from JustWatch via TMDB and is never stored: catalogues move constantly, and a stale answer would be worse than none.

Also in this release:
- You can now write to us: Settings has a "Write to us" row that opens your mail app ready to go, for questions, bugs or ideas. TVdex attaches nothing of its own: no phone model, no system version, what you type is all we get.
- Settings also has "What's New": the notes for every version, with the one you're running already open. They live in the app, so they read offline too.
- Synopses and biographies no longer take up half the screen: they stop after a few lines, with "Show more" when you want the rest. The cut follows the text you're actually seeing, so nothing goes missing at large text sizes either.
- The library sorts the way you say: any order can be reversed, newest to oldest and back, A–Z or Z–A. Films can also be sorted by release date.
- When several episodes of a series land on the same day you get one notification saying how many, instead of one per episode.
- Dates and notifications are right outside Europe too: across much of the world, episodes looked like they were out a day before they actually are.
- Under the hood, the app opens faster and stumbles less as you use it: most noticeably if your library is a big one.

### 2.0.0 — 2026-08-01

The second act: bigger, more polished, more yours.

- Widgets front and centre: "Up Next" and "Upcoming" on your Home Screen, and a tap takes you straight to the episode.
- The library filters the way it should: a filter bar always within reach, a sheet for state, genres and sort order, a badge when something's on, and your filters kept just as you left them.
- Catch up or finish a series and the celebration starts: confetti, and an invitation to rate it or watch it again from the top.
- Marking an episode got smarter: skip a few in a row and TVdex asks in a clear way: just this one, the last few left, or every last one? And stops nagging about a gap you left on purpose.
- Series and film pages speak the same language: whether you arrive from search or your library, you see the very same detail, now with status always in view for films too.
- Swipe between episodes with a gesture, back and forth through the season.
- Search without a floor: "Load more" carries the TMDB results on.

TV Time import, retuned:
- Seasons TV Time splits and TMDB doesn't (like Jujutsu Kaisen) come back to the right count, and announced-but-empty seasons no longer vanish by mistake.
- Films sharing a title (both *The Mummy*s, both *Dumbo*s, ...) both arrive, instead of overwriting each other.
- Films with a translated title get matched, and titles TMDB files as films even when TV Time called them series can still be paired up.
- Re-importing the same file no longer doubles anything.
- Titles that need review are now chosen from a clearer sheet, films and series together.

Export your library:
- Save your library as a readable page to browse or print, with a wait you can see.

Under the hood, where it counts:
- Episodes that haven't aired stay in the wings: no marking, no place in "Up Next", no padding your backlog and a series is "caught up" once you've seen everything you *can*.
- Deleting all your data no longer closes the app.
- Duplicates born from an iPhone ↔ iPad sync heal themselves, without ever touching your history.
- Refreshing the library in the background no longer risks closing the app when you put it away.
- Region and language for TMDB data follow your device.
- Biographies that exist only in English are now shown, labelled as such, instead of staying invisible.
- In Settings, The Movie Database credit is centred.
- In statistics, switching quickly between Series and Films no longer flickers between skeleton and numbers: only your last choice counts.
- Scrolling a long series' seasons is smoother, and images stay in memory longer instead of reloading.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-21

A look back, for anyone who's watched a lot.
- On launch the logo greets you with a heartbeat; come straight back and it stays off-stage.
- In the spotlight: statistics. Time watched, episodes and films seen, your streak of consecutive days with its record, votes given, your library by state with favourites, top genres and networks, and your most memorable binges, filterable by period. The weekly chart changes framing: hours or episodes, whichever you prefer. With VoiceOver, statistics tell their story: the weekly chart narrates the trend instead of listing one bar at a time. A projection tells you when you'll reach the closing credits on your series and film watchlist and when nothing's left waiting, it takes a bow. Share your stats as a poster, signed with the TVdex mark.
- Titles that haven't premiered show their release date in search, your library and their own page, and wait in the wings: no rating, no check until they're out. Films still awaiting release no longer pad your backlog: only what you can actually watch counts.
- Time watched is accurate again: imported viewings missing a runtime are re-cut with real data on first launch.
- A series' detail shows how many times you've watched it end to end, and the season bars read at a glance.
- Fuller Italian throughout, with cast and crew roles in the right grammatical form for each person.
- Deleting all your data no longer stops the show: it works backstage and shows its progress.
- Everything runs smoother while iCloud syncs behind the scenes, and statistics take the stage instantly.
