## What is Twilight Struggle?

Answer the summons of the trumpets and bear the burden of the Twilight Struggle. Set during the ideological tension of the Cold War, Twilight Struggle: Red Sea places the United States and the Soviet Union at critical odds in the Horn of Africa. Every choice you make will impact the balance of power.

"Now the trumpet summons us again" —John Fitzgerald Kennedy, First Inaugural 1961.

Twilight Struggle: Red Sea builds on the award-winning game Twilight Struggle. The year is 1974. As the Soviet Union and the United States are locked in a life-or-death struggle across the globe, the Horn of Africa suddenly takes center stage. Leadership changes spark a chain of events that upset the regional balance of power and unleash all the familiar elements of the Cold War.

Lead the global policy in this 2-player, card driven strategy game and take the role as either the United States or the Soviet Union. Engage in varying actions that are vital to regional stability such as spreading political influence, conducting military coups, or attempting favorable political realignments. It is your goal to gain allies and be the leading worldwide superpower. But be careful not to overreach, as one wrong decision can lead to DEFCON One and a game ending nuclear war!

Real World Events
Card mechanics based on the historical events of the Cold War, centered around East Africa, the Arabian Gulf, and the vital sea lanes stretching between them. New Flashpoint countries create additional tension around Coup attempts and have DEFCON impacts.

Customized Game Options
Specific cards from Twilight Struggle can be integrated into Twilight Struggle: Red Sea to add an extra Late War turn to extend the experience. Play the solitaire game via the Solo BOT or take on the challenge of facing the A.I. in offline games.

### 5/5 — Great sequel

*2026-02-17*

If you like Twilight Struggle, you will love this, it’s like a micro version playable in 2 to 3 turns and very intense focusing on the Red Sea region split between the Middle East and Africa. Fun game!

If you’ve played Twilight Struggle, it’s pretty similar, and there’s a one page summary of differences you can find online. Make sure to learn the victory conditions.

Very good competitive game playing with other players online. The people who are writing that the AI cheats must just be very bad at this game. Haven’t had any significant bugs either.

**Developer response:** Thanks! We greatly appreciate your support!

### 5/5 — Great!

Thanks for fixing!

### 5/5 — Love this adaptation, hoping the original TS comes to iPhone soon

*2026-01-28*

It's a feature-complete port. The game sparked my interest in the history and region. It's also a great way to get familiar with the board game before playing the physical version. One small issue though: On my iPhone, the Dynamic Island covers the cards on the side, making them hard to operate. It would be great if you could add some spacing on the left and right sides to fix this.
By the way, do you have any plans to bring the original Twilight Struggle to iPhone?:) It seems like it's only available on iPad for now.

### 5/5 — Twilight Struggle sequel.

*2025-08-17*

If you like Twilight Struggle, you will like this, although it’s much faster to play, with only 2-3 very intense turns. Gameplay is fairly similar, where you play cards and use them for operations or events. The goal is to control the Red Sea, with one side being Africa, and the other being parts of the Middle East. The events have a very strong effect on the gameplay, and the first few times you play, you might find you get wiped out quickly, but that happens less once you get used to the cards. Also study the victory conditions, they are a bit tricky, but give you several paths to victory.

UPDATE Despite what others said in the reviews here, the AI does not cheat, the people who say that are either bad players or don’t understand probability or both. The app is generally pretty stable, I get the occasional crash, but no big deal as the game is saved. It’s an exciting game, and often isn’t decided till the last turn. Recommended.

### 1/5 — Can’t even play

Would love to play this game but it can’t even load past 45 percent trying to start an offline AI game.

Would like my money back.

### 1/5 — DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

*2024-02-26*

This is a $10 game and for what?
Another trash game with broken AI that cheats.

I can't believe these devs already screwed up the AI in this game just like they did in the other game.

But at least in the first game they gave the player the option of setting up a handicap.

There is no such option here.

The game obviously cheats as I've now lost count how many times I have a hand with 1's and 2's, of mostly the opposing sides cards, while the AI is throwing down cards of 3's and 4's.

I've also lost count of how many times I'm only half way through the first round but I've already lost.

This game is trash if they don't fix this.

Don't waste your money on this game unless they put in the option for having a handicap.

### 2/5 — Looks great but crashes!

*2024-01-03*

The app crashes on the loading screen when I try to create a game

### 1/5 — Rule book missing half

*2023-08-29*

I can not find the odd numbered sections of rule book.

Ap crashes a lot

### 1/5 — Bugged

*2023-08-23*

Does not work on iPad mini 3 with iOS 12.5.7
When you start tutorial or new game it crashes at 45%

Note: Standard Twilight Struggle works just fine
