I got it for my Christmas tree and it’s so fun. I keep it around. Keeping it connected to Alexa is not fun. ### 2/5 — Says needs update *2026-07-07, version 3.27.7* Today I open the app and it says please update. I go to the App Store to update and there is no update available. It says the most recent update was a month ago. I was trying to make a cute light combo in the effects tab and EVERY FREAKING TIME I put the name of the lights, it didn’t show in “my effects” and it took me freaking 6 times but it still wasn’t working so I just gave up. Like what is it illegal to make a light effect now? ### 1/5 — App sucks. Period *2026-05-22, version 3.27.6* For at least 6 months, the explore new scenes link has not worked. You click on explore scenes and it opens to a blank webpage & nothing loads. If you delete half the URL the page will load but you can’t download anything because it’s no longer linked to your app. Before ‘customer service’ replies here and tells be to make sure I’m not a guest (I’m logged in) or to email and create a case ( I did on Feb 14, 2026) and nothing has changed. Basically the lights are useless if I cannot download new scenes. FIX THIS KEY FEATURE OF YOUR PRODUCT!!!! ### 1/5 — Poor support *2026-05-13, version 3.27.6* Product will not connect via Bluetooth only WiFi and has constant problems. But the app and the patterns are extremely buggy. It takes me 5-10 attempts of rebooting and tweaking to get a new downloaded or created pattern to load into the strings. It’s a love-hate relationship but I’m still hooked. ### 1/5 — Explore No Longer Works *2026-03-29, version 3.27.5* Used to be great but after the last update the explore button in the app started opening a webpage that doesn’t load. I placed the lights (two sets of 250) in some trees and mapped them with the app. Lights were synched but lost their connection so the patterns were off set. App setting are clunky. No bueno. ### 1/5 — app doesn’t connect / control the lights *2026-08-04, version 3.28.0* Im updating my review since Twinkly updated the software, these are still utterly mind bending, pain in the butt to get to work. Ive connected them but they have to run as their own wifi instead of blue tooth, low security mode and are out and unresponsive currently, cant turn them on or turn them off or change a dang thing. If you like absolute frustration, then these are definitely for you. I would not give a one star rating but forced. ### 1/5 — Another Lousy Broken App *2026-07-29, version 3.28.0* When it works, it’s great. But just try reconnecting when it stops working. The app offers no options to reconnect anything. Even deleting the installation and starting over doesn’t help. It will find the lights but then won’t connect them to WiFi. Great move guys, I love not being able to use the product I bought. I’ve learned my lesson and will be replacing these with lights that don’t primarily rely on a smartphone app once they wear out. ### 1/5 — Lost access to my lights *2026-07-08, version 3.28.0* We had a large Twinkly ecosystem at my house, and after the recent account migration, half of my lights are gone. There are plenty of other smart LED strips that actually integrate well with google home. Twinkly is useless. It constantly has issues with google accessing the scenes or just basic on/off feature. When it does decide to work good home will say “twinkly unavailable” even if it does turn the lights on/off You can’t use it with any other smart app either. Believe Me !! ### 5/5 — Beautiful Ambiance - LOVE them but have suggestion *2026-01-16, version 3.27.3* As I said I love my Twinkly lights and the App. I love being able to change the whole ambiance of the house with a tap in an app. I have one suggestion… for the app which I think would be easy and fantastic. Make hours as an available time unit in the play list. Over the holidays I have a whole coordinated light show going - with both interior and exterior lights playing together. So a short play list works great. But after the holidays are done I like to calm things down. Have maybe two patterns that each play for serval hours. One basic but glittery warm white, from about 5p to 10p. and then a “night sky” display for from about 10p to 1am. It’d be so lovely to do but the app won’t do hours on a playlist. To be fair… I can go manually change it each time I want it changed... But I also like a coordinated house that adjusts by itself without me going into an app to set every little thing.
