## What is Two Tongues?

Two Tongues is a translation keyboard that lets you message someone in their language, right inside the apps you already use. Type in your own language, tap Translate, and the translated text drops into the message field, ready to send.

Everything happens on your device. There are no servers, no accounts, and no tracking. What you type is processed on your device to translate it, held only briefly in memory, and never logged, stored, or sent anywhere.

WHAT IT DOES
Type in your language and translate into another without leaving your chat. It works in the messaging apps you already use. Translation runs on-device using Apple's built-in translation engine, so the words you translate never go to a translation server.

FEATURES
- Swipe typing: glide across the keys to type.
- Long-press for accents: hold a letter for its variants like ä, ö, ü, ß, ë, ç, and more.
- Space-bar trackpad: hold the space bar and slide to move the cursor through your text.
- Personal glossary: keep names and terms translated exactly the way you want.
- Switch languages right from the keyboard.

PRIVACY
- No servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads.
- The keyboard contains no networking code at all.
- Translation runs locally on your device.

ABOUT "ALLOW FULL ACCESS"
Two Tongues asks for "Allow Full Access" for one reason: Apple keeps its on-device translator behind that setting for keyboards, so the keyboard cannot translate without it. The keyboard has no networking code and does not read your pasteboard; it uses Full Access solely to reach Apple's on-device translator.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-06

Typing is more reliable when you type quickly. Keys are no longer missed when you press the next one before lifting your finger, and letters always come out in the order you pressed them.

The emoji keyboard now has over a thousand emoji, including flags, plus a Recents tab for the ones you use most.

Swipe typing has been removed. It was not accurate enough to be useful, so tapping is now the only way to type.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-04

Much faster typing. The keyboard has been rebuilt so that pressing a key no longer redraws the whole keyboard.

New emoji keyboard: tap the smiley key, then swipe between pages or jump straight to a category.

Hold the delete key to erase quickly, first letter by letter and then whole words.

The Translate button has moved up next to your languages, which makes the space bar full width.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-28

Faster, smoother typing.

Caps lock now clearly shows when it is on.

Long-press accents are more reliable, so normal typing is never changed unexpectedly.

Autocorrect is now off by default and can be turned on in Settings.

### 1.0 — 2026-07-22

No release notes.
