I don’t know what version of Markdown this editor supports but so far my documents work fine. Typewriter is a minimalist editor. The way to change settings (such as font type and size) and the syntax selection is via the “gear wheel” in the document settings. Most of the formatting controls that you are likely to need are included in the pop up menu bar.  

The app is donation ware, and if you do start to use it then a donation is a good way to encourage the developer.

Been using +1 year. No complaints whatsoever. Simply does the job fast and clean. 

Doesn’t promise to do everything, but absolutely delivers on what it can do. 

Recently got a MacBook Pro, curious and not a little excited to try out full sync abilities.

I tried a few syncing notes editors, each with a gazillion features, before settling on Typewriter. It focuses on Markdown and syncs across devices. Turns out, that’s all I wanted. 

I mostly use the iPad and Mac apps for editing. iPhone is useful to view documents on-the-run, but my aging eyes struggle to edit on the phone—folks with better eyesight will do better. 

I was concerned about the monetization model. The whole thing is completely free. That’s fantastic, but I want a long-term supported app. Eventually, I found a Donate button in the app Preferences. I promise, this is not a paid review, or some kind of shill—just throw a few bucks at the developer if, like me, you want Typewriter to keep going.

I’ve switched over to Typewriter for all of my markdown needs. The instant preview is the killer feature. I’m also enjoying all of the new keyboard shortcuts. The developer is very responsing and keeps improving the app. Highly recommended.

This app is excellent as a Markdown editor. It has pretty much all of what one needs. And is very easy to use.

One major problem: the latest version can't open files that already exist on one's hard disk.

Update: Thank you so much for fixing the problem so swiftly! It all works now. This really is a wonderful app.

Update 2: I just realised the Mac version can only open *.txt files, but no longer *.md files.

I've downloaded lots of similar stuff from AppStore, and this one is better than all of them. It only does what I need, without any distractions, useless functions or ads. I really enjoy it.

I downloaded it to be able to write simple math markdowns. Eg 
$ x + y $ 
Would not render properly. So basically a garbage app

Useless, this Markdown editor is unable to open .md files... 90% of readme's use .md extension.

Also, if you create a new file, and if you save a new document it forces you to use no file extension.

I have had a good time with this app, lightweight & usable. No ads. Not feature rich, but complete. I am content with it. The tool bar is not well-designed, button position changes in a weird way in different view on iPad, but ok, ok. However, I did suffer from data loss, losing a few files a few months ago. And two in a row today & yesterday. I am not sure whether it is a IOS bug, but really frustrated by the fact that I lost thousands of words.

1. Search: less than three characters, search does not work.

2. Link: When pasting into the URL, you need to operate it twice. The URL content will disappear after pasting is completed.

this is the third markdown editor i tried for my phone (iphone se 2016). i like the interface, ease of use, and lack of ads. it is a no-frills, lightweight markdown editor that is great for quick md editing.  
however, i am deleting it because there is no way to switch off the auto-period when double spacing. manually removing the period for every line break got annoying quick. but this app is perfect for those who like to add a period at every line and minimal interfaces.

Thanks - now opens `.md` and `.markdown` files. Editor experience is better too, in 1.1.1. Now capable of being a main workhorse for Markdown. Would give 4.5 stars if I could :-)

The only thing I see needs fixing is the refresh rate for the preview pane. (Also, nice to have would be a preview checkbox --> editor refresh, for ToDo list functionality.)

Almost immediately, I noticed that the viewer doesn't break the line correctly in a blockquote. 

Here's how it looks. You write:  
> First line, 
> Second line. 

And here's what you see in the previewer instead of two lines: 
| First line, Second line. 

So, I skipped this app.

**Developer response:** I've added an option to enable line breaks with Return in the app preferences window. It will be in version 1.0.7, which should be available soon. Thank you for the report!

You will see next to no distractions on this writing app – I’ve tried to write on this, and so far I love the simplicity of just picking up and using Typewriter.

If you want to be able to focus on writing without straining your eyes from reading your work, I recommend these settings:

- horizontal margins 200-300 (if on iPad) or 250-350 (if on Mac with a big screen)
- set theme to ‘simple adaptive’
- enable counter and set to ‘words’
- enable smart quotes (you will need this for typography reasons when converting for print)

I had never heard of this app before. I would’ve come soon. It’s fantastic Markdown editor and it has great feature.

It has the crucial simplicity so many of us needed.

With this app, you can slide the tool bar, and easily make lists and indentations. They aren’t hidden unlike Bear’s newest upgrade.

I am sorry for so much comparison, but I am actually trying to say how great this app. I went ahead and donated because I am so grateful that they allow people to try this app.
