I’m not progressive, but I appreciate hearing many different sides of the issues at hand and TYT is very good at supporting their statements. The app experience, however, is abysmal. It’s basically just the mobile website, but it’s buggy as hell. Videos freeze all the time or restart and all I want is to play the show audio in the background while I work, but I can’t do that. If you lock your phone screen, go to your home screen or if audio plays from another source, then the TYT video completely stops. It is the year 2026. Why can I not have the video play in the background?? No joke it’s actually better to just use the mobile site. I’m giving 2 stars because I support the show, but the app itself is worthless. App has sucked big time but I see they are finally trying to make efforts towards updates which is nice to see because it’s been a long time since the last major update. I see that it’s now saving my progress when I return to a video (bare bones functionality expectation), but the videos continually go black and load out of nowhere. I have to reboot the app to get it to fix, and then if I ever try to skip around, it will shortly do the same thing after. That’s only slightly more annoying than the what happens when trying to read through conversations while watching a video and then suddenly I can’t scroll further and it just seems to show the scroll bar moving but not actually scrolling. Please fix and modernize this app. We all would really appreciate it. (iPhone 14 pro max running ios18.2). thanks. ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2024-12-10, version 3.1* I love TYT. I love their mission. I love their delivery. I love their passion for delivering the news. But this app is endlessly frustrating to use. It crashes all the time. It logs me out mid-session all the time. There’s very limited and barely working video navigation options. It will show that it saved your spot in a video but always start from the beginning. It will randomly restart a video when you’re in the middle of it. Endless frustration. ### 2/5 — Terrific show, but the app….. *2024-09-10* People, you really need to fix this app! I hate giving it a bad review, I've been following the Young Turks for well over 15 years ND love the show so much, but when the app is this faulty, I have to let you know. I use it all the time, but it's so frustrating when most of the time it can't find back to where I paused it. This even happens some times when I've been pausing for a minute or less. In addition the scroll feature is so bad that you can't hit the right place even if you know where you want to start. Again, sorry about this. I promise to give you 5 stars the moment you fix the app. But please, it's been forever! ### 1/5 — The app update is HORRIBLE *2024-08-13, version 3.1* The app was perfectly fine a week ago. I had to update today because it wouldn’t work without updating…. Wow. This new version of the app is freaking AWFUL. Nothing loads. Podcasts don’t play with the screen locked. The entire section with the Shows/Videos won’t even load properly so nothing shows up… Please fix this app ASAP. ### 3/5 — Love the content, hate the app *2024-08-08, version 3.1* I was a yearly subscriber for two years. I didn’t renew this past January to take a break from political commentary. I rejoined this last month for a month and the app has changed, and not for the better. If i have to pause a podcast and can’t get back to it for a while, it will start at the beginning. I then have to hit the forward button and advance 15 seconds at the time. When i am a half hour in, i just find something else to listen to. Also, there are times during the podcast where the audio just cuts out. Typically at the end with a few minutes left, but sometimes in the beginning or middle. 5 stars for content 1 star for the app 3 star average ### 1/5 — Best news show ever. Revert to old app! ### 1/5 — Love content, hate the app *2024-02-29, version 3.1* New version bad design full of glitches ### 2/5 — PLEASE REVERT TO PREVIOUS VERSION *2024-01-31, version 3.1* This is the only app review I’ve ever written, which should tell you how big of a deal this is for me! TYT, I don’t just love you I DEPEND on you to keep me sane. Your old app was like an old friend. It didn’t have a bunch of fluff or showy features, but it had what I needed and I knew it like the back of my hand. And that was especially helpful because I often need to listen late at night when I’m plagued with insomnia but don’t want to do anything to wake my husband up. But for some insane reason everything simple, useful, and reliable about that old version was discarded when you revamped the app. Suddenly everything’s confusing or I have to jump thru hoops to get it to work. Continuous play is gone, so I have to turn the screen back on to select each little segment I want to watch. The rewind & ff feature is now useless on the app screen, unless you unless you don’t mind losing several minutes of content or having to watch big chunks over again. That parts especially problematic since it means I can no longer skip the SUPER loud entry music (when trying not to wake my husband) without also skipping content. And it now stops playing when I close the screen UNLESS I reopen the screen and close it again (sometimes more than once). That might not seem so bad, since I figured out that trick to make it work. But I have to DO that nifty trick for EVERY segment since the continuous play is gone! I’m about ready to give up on what used to be my all-time favorite app! And from what I’m seeing, everyone else is feeling the same way. Wouldn’t it be easier to just go back to the simple, usable app and let us enjoy the content without having to tear our hair out in frustration?! ### 1/5 — App Update is so frustrating *2024-01-17, version 3.1* The new app updates are very frustrating and make listening to the podcast version via the app difficult and impossible to pause/resume when anything interrupts. Tried emailing and never heard back. I don’t expect much but some basic functionality would be nice. ### 4/5 — LOVE TYT *2024-01-13, version 3.1* I love TYT and this review is just about this app, not the network I appreciate the work you did on your latest update! I’m finding the user experience not as good as before, especially for navigating and watching shows. Before, shows automatically played Picture in Picture, and had seamless audio between using and closing the app. It also auto played the 3 the TYT episides. All of those things no longer work. On top of it, I have to restart the app to play the hour 2 and bonus episode of tyt because it simply doesn’t work without doing so. The old interface was also easier to navigate and more aesthetically pleasing 😅 Please please bring back some of those other features. YouTube works fine never an issue !!!!! ### 1/5 — Useless app *2025-10-02, version 3.6* Get halfway through a podcast and it stops playing every time and no amount of resetting will get it to work. Get a phone call while listening the a podcast and it restarts the podcast. So aggravating. ### 1/5 — Love the Show, Hate the App *2025-05-28, version 3.6* The app is very glitchy. Regularly crashes and freezes. The play button only responds sometimes. Too much unwanted subject that requires your signing and creating another passwords when you are a member of tyt. Jk Rowling live. *2024-11-14, version 3.1* Ana and Cenk are no better than the main stream media. They say the correct themselves. But only sometimes do they actually do that. Also Ana told people who complain about her to find another show to watch. So did. The Majority Report is a thousand times better and more sane than these two could ever be. Ana should be called Mrs. Blow-hole since she says that’s what man-made vaginas are called. Would be great if the transphobic host could quit covering trans stories. She is no different than JK Rowling. Cenk is also a transphobe. He seems to think women need to have tests to see how womanly they are. They don’t care truly care about change and if you want more information find them on Reddit. Because seems the main show is going more to the grifting side. Only thing worth watching is John and Rishad. Ana can’t handle criticism. She complains then reads the posts that sympathize with her. Enjoyed when I first started watching but there are definitely signs and apparently Cenk stopped a union from forming in his business. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Subscription Bug *2025-05-03, version 3.6* I subscribed via Apple Store, but when I go to TYT page on Apple Podcasts, it’s asking me to subscribe. And one of VERY few news outlets that talks about how money in politics is ruining everything. I finally understand American politics and can predict actions thanks to this news network. Before I would pierce it to some degree but could never quite see clearly. There were always pieces missing or I had to read between the lines. I can finally see clearly what is going on and not only read the lines but predict them. This is real news interpretation that helps you understand and interpret the news without them.
