### 2/5 — Bluetooth won’t stay connected

*2025-06-12, version 1.2.8*

When it stays connected, it works pretty good unfortunately it often loses his connection and reestablishing. It is troubleshooting and time-consuming, and sometimes not successful.

### 1/5 — Don’t open just return

*2020-07-29, version 1.2.8*

This product doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Annoyed

*2020-07-15, version 1.2.8*

Don’t bother buying scam tool if u got anything older then 2005 jus says connect scan tool

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-07-02, version 1.2.8*

Like everyone else, can’t enter my vehicles VIN and it’s very clear it’s not for Australian vehicles. Emailed support and not heard a thing back. Really poor service and bordering on the line as misleading. In its current state I would NOT recommend this app or it’s device.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2020-04-24, version 1.2.8*

Do not buy!!! This de ice only offers code reading and no other diagnostic help. I bought another reader for $15 and was able to perform specific tests

### 1/5 — Need asap update!!

*2020-04-15, version 1.2.8*

Update please!

### 3/5 — After Update

*2020-03-24, version 1.2.8*

I tried tried the software update but could not complete the last leg, message saying to connect device. But, the Bluetooth on my phone would not allow it to connect from list of previously connected devices. I tried “forget this device” and a few different tries as getting the phone and device to recognize each other but in the end it worked. Good luck.

### 3/5 — Good once connected

*2020-03-08, version 1.2.8*

I’m tech savvy and the connection was not smooth. Took 30min then I needed to upgrade firmware this wasn’t smooth either. I worked my way through it, but for a less tech orientated person the screw around will drive you nuts. Needs to be made more reliable and intuitive to connect and update. Once working it’s great!

### 1/5 — Never makes connections

*2020-02-28, version 1.2.8*

Please help us poor people who have one or two

### 1/5 — What a joke

*2020-02-20, version 1.2.8*

This is the worst product I have ever used the Bluetooth is completely obsolete... it will not run a single scan and keeps saying the vehicle is moving or out of range. This thing wasn’t cheap either. Not happy at all, don’t waste your time or money with this.

### 1/5 — Hard to Connnect

*2019-12-22, version 1.2.8*

You already had to do a dance of forget the Bluetooth device, open the app, connect to the Bluetooth device, pray that it connects, then go back to the app and hope that it actually recognizes the scanner. Now they’ve added a new failure point so that when you finally get the random order of connection steps to take, there’s about a 75% chance it’ll think the “vehicle is in motion or has moved” and force you to start all over again. I wish I still had my receipt because this thing is a pile of junk.

Please remove the motion error to give us a fighting chance of getting it connected. Once it is connected, it works great. I’ll give them that.

### 1/5 — Won’t pair

*2019-08-07, version 1.2.8*

Think was ok but won’t pair to my iPhone 7plus. It pulls up on my Bluetooth but then states theirs a error connecting. (And yes my bt works fine). If they can fix I’ll leave a good review. But as of now I wouldn’t waste my money buying another.

### 1/5 — Was good before till the did the dumb update

*2019-07-30, version 1.2.8*

I never write reviews but this one app update is just very annoying. They updated the app so you cant use the monitoring system while driving. How dumb is that? Isnt that the purpose of most if not all the in app purchaces? You cant see the a/f ratio, temp and other important gauges anymore while driving. Dont buy UScan products.

### 1/5 — Does not do what it’s advertised to do!

*2019-07-06, version 1.2.8*

While the app descriptions says (for an additional fee), scans abs on 1996 and newer vehicles package states through 2013. However the actual model year this tool will scan these modules is 2011. Although it will scan vehicles above 2011 it will only read the engine module. It will not find the correct vehicle make through the vin or through manual entry. If you plan on scanning and or airbag modules on anything newer than 2011 DONT BUY THIS TOOL! I will definitely be returning it! Very disappointed!

PS: the last app update was 11 months ago. Auto Technology moves way to fast for a company that only updates their products once a year.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy

*2019-06-12, version 1.2.8*

Terrible app has severe connectivity issues disconnects all of the time. The UI is weird to navigate and it is extremely outdated not even optimized for the newer phones. Can’t use it while driving the vehicle which defeats the purpose of live data. Unless they make some serious improvements the app makes this product useless.

### 1/5 — Cannot Use While Moving

*2019-06-10, version 1.2.8*

App is now useless for live monitoring. Buy another device.

### 1/5 — Could Not Resove with Technical Assistance

*2019-05-30, version 1.2.8*

Although I was able to reach U-scan’s technical assistance team, they were not able to help me pair my device with my phone. My U-scan device paired initially and suddenly unpaired while updating. After repeated attemots to pair, update, I decided to call U-Scan for technical assistance. I made a point to describe to the technician while on the phone that since the initial pairing, the device could not stay paired and would not update. We tried to troubleshoot the issue further but we did not succeed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Scanner will not connect via Bluetooth

*2024-06-04, version 1.2.8*

Scanner will not connect via Bluetooth. Save your money and buy a different one

### 1/5 — Disappointment

*2021-11-05, version 1.2.8*

Good luck getting a Bluetooth connection to the device. If there is a magic way to connect, it is kept secret. No trouble-shooting advice can be found on Actron.com and there are no manuals.
It could be such a good tool if only it worked.

### 1/5 — Nearly Worthless

*2021-10-20, version 1.2.8*

Software is EOL 4 years ago and was hobbled the most basis functions at that time. It’s hard to believe reputable stores like Napa still sell it. If you came her e to get the software after just buying it TAKEBIT BACK!

The HT200 I bought at Walmart works great for $50.

### 1/5 — Absolute Garbage

*2021-07-28, version 1.2.8*

I gave it one star only because I couldn’t give it zero. Once I finally got it to connect it said the firmware needed an update. After wasting a lot of time with three failed attempts it says it can’t be updated. Total waste of my time, don’t waste yours even trying to use this garbage.

### 1/5 — Completely NOT friendly

*2021-07-23, version 1.2.8*

The app is painful to use, I eventually gave up and bought a different one and their app was very intuitive and user friendly/easy to use. This is garbage, move on.

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2021-07-05, version 1.2.8*

The latest update removed a most important feature; being able to record and display while in motion. I bought device and the new and improved update ruined the device. It is now not much better than visiting an auto parts store and getting scans for free. I consider the marketing a bait and switch scam.

### 1/5 — No connection!!!

*2021-03-05, version 1.2.8*

I tried several times to make it work but it doesn’t connect with my car at all.

### 1/5 — The item should be U-Scam

*2021-02-27, version 1.2.8*

Let me start with U-scammers if you are looking for any thing made by this mob keep on moving. It’s a waste of money.

### 1/5 — This device is totally useless.

*2020-09-21, version 1.2.8*

I bought this less than a year ago and used it once. The code info was very limited and mostly inaccurate. When I tried to use it a second time a few months later, it would not sync with my iPhone blue tooth. Kept getting message that device was not turned on or vehicle was moving which neither was true. It is crap. Don’t waste your money.

### 1/5 — Crap after update

*2020-09-16, version 1.2.8*

After the update I can’t even get it to connect anymore

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Decent tool for its age

*2020-11-02, version 1.2.8*

It performs decently. I purchased this several years ago so newer units have more capability.

### 5/5 — Great device

*2020-07-15, version 1.2.8*

So many bad reviews, so it does get a bit annoying connecting at first but the trick is to force close uscan app if you have it open, then go to Bluetooth settings select uscan give it a minute or two after it connects then open up the app it should work fine , if not force close app and reopen, great for trouble codes abs and airbag lights customer service is terrible tho had to pay twice for add ons

### 5/5 — Works Great

*2018-10-04, version 1.2.8*

I had no trouble with the device the app or the upgrades. I guess I just know how to work it.

### 5/5 — Nice unit and good app

*2017-12-30, version 1.2.7*

Not sure what the fuss is about with this unit. I read the directions, maybe that is the difference. You do have to manually pair in blue tooth (not a huge deal) and update the unit (following on screen directions) once you have done this, you have a pretty cool unit! You can buy add ons, (I have not found a need yet). This works well with my 2017 Santa Fe. I will try with the rest of my cars and trucks and report back if I have an issue.

### 5/5 — As good as advertised - A Great Product

*2017-08-03, version 1.2.7*

I found the device and app very useful for my VW Touareg. I see a lot of bad reviews; it appears that people DO NOT KNOW what they are buying or how to use the device to enhance the data given by the app.

Strongly recommend... if you know what you are doing.

### 5/5 — High Quality Product - Very Confusing at First

*2016-08-20, version 1.2.5*

Vehicle1: 2009 Holden Commodore V6
Vehicle2: 2010 Hyundai Getz

I purchased this product on sale after a chronic problem with my and my partner's ABS - a variety of workshops had looked at them, and the problem re-presented after only a short amount of time.

After the initial setup of the device which included:
- Connecting via Blue Tooth
- Updating Firmware
- Adding the vehicle manually

The product worked as described. I had particular issues with my Holden Commodore, as it had to be entered as a Pontiac G8 - this is understandable, as they are the same GM product under different names - failing to read this in the small print initially left me dismayed at my purchase.

I experienced some issues with connectivity (intermittent dropouts) however remember that this is a bluetooth product and the same as any RF product, is susceptible to interference.

As I was experiencing an ABS issue, not an engine issue, I was required to purchase ABS Codes and CodeConnect(TM) at an additional cost of approximately AU$25.00. As an avid DIYer however, this investment in the additional components was considered by myself to be acceptable.

Straight out of the box, it does what it says it will - read engine codes, and it does that well. Have patience with this device and it pays off - for me, this was particularly applicable to the fact that I couldn't find my Australian Vehicle Variant in the list, but a small amount of googling later, I found the solutions quickly and was, overall, very impressed with the product.

I would reccommend this to a friend, but advise them to put aside an hour to figure it out first.

### 5/5 — Confusion

*2015-10-13, version 1.2.5*

Got this yesterday and like every one else was confused set a email and got a reply with a video for Australian cars works like a treat now

### 4/5 — 2023 Review - Firmware Update

*2023-10-22, version 1.2.8*

Review of U-Scan App version 1.2.8 (126). I have a red Mac Tools branded U-Scan device, from about 2019. Upon Bluetooth pairing to my iPhone 13 running iOS 17.0.3, there was a mandatory U-Scan firmware update. The update proceeded smoothly. As others have wrote, after the firmware update, I had trouble pairing with my iPhone. The U-Scan LED was blinking yellow. I unplugged the U-Scan to cycle its power. Although it was listed on my iPhone for pairing, it refused to connect. At some point in the firmware update process I was instructed to turn off the vehicle’s power. I eventually turned on the vehicle’s power and then the U-Scan quickly paired with my iPhone. Thus, the firmware update instructions failed to instruct to switch on the vehicle power. I had to figure that out myself. The vehicle is a 2020 Ford Transit 250 AWD. I recently had a check engine light. After three restarts the light was off. The U-Scan found and reported the error code and a brief description.

### 4/5 — UScan

*2018-09-20, version 1.2.8*

I purchased the U-Scan and I punched VIN in but it never worked. I let the U-Scan find car itself and it found it. I hav a 2013 VE SSV, so yes it does work on Holdens.

### 4/5 — Great but needs more support.

*2014-08-05, version 1.2.0*

Please add support for GM Holden as their engines and ECUs are Chevrolet-based. VVT information is not available on my 2008 ly7 v6.
