## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not free like the FAA says it should be

*2024-08-31*

According to the FAA all B4UFLY providers shall not charge recreational drone pilots and this app make you pay for it.

### 1/5 — Impossible to draw a flight area

*2024-02-08*

I don’t understand what’s going on with drawing flight areas on this app. I tap to define the points, then nothing. No errors and none of the buttons work. Frustrating!

### 1/5 — Don’t

*2022-09-27*

If you are a professional and using this program you are wrong!

### 1/5 — Wants personal info to try it out.

*2020-02-14*

I am a Part 107 pilot (also fixed wing). This app looked to be what I was looking for. But, in order to try it out, you have to give them your personal information. Why? There should be a way to try it for a few days as a guest. Only if you decide to purchase should you be required to give up your information.

I may have been a customer, but not under these terms.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review. We request certain information when you register which is required to allow minimal functionality of the software and to be able to file for LAANC authorizations. During registration we require Name, Email Address, Password Creation and Phone Number. We do allow the user to input their address, Airman Certificate Number and their Flight Services Account Email which the user does not have to fill out to be able to register. We continue to provide a trial period but the user will still need to provide the minimal information to register. To file a LAANC authorization with any software the user would need to provide this basic information whether it is in a trial or under a subscription. We will continue to look for ways to simplify the process and provide a better user experience. We provide information on our website www.uasidekick.com under the Privacy tab, regarding what we do with your information. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any further questions and concerns that you may have at info@uasidekick.com.

### 1/5 — Ineligible EVERYWHERE

*2019-08-02*

Im checking with this app and it seems like like everywhere is an ineligible flight plan. I have yet to find one that is ok to fly. I will keep trying to find spots. I would buy the subscription if I can atleast find a spot to fly recreationally.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and for downloading the app. UASidekick provides mapping which shows various controlled and restricted airspace and allows the user to file for LAANC authorization when required at participating airports. Our app provides the user the the "Ineligible" notice when they are either requesting flights at airports which are not LAANC ready, when the user request flights in class "G" airspace or when they are requesting flights that do not meet the FAA guidelines within the controlled airspace. Our app provides additional information along with the "Ineligible" notice so the user can make changes to the request if needed. We are working to provide even more information when a request is ineligible in the future. Thank you for your feedback.

### 1/5 — Not free!

*2019-04-25*

I had to change my review from a 5 star to 1 star because the app developers charge a $5 fee per month to flight plan

**Developer response:** Thank you for downloading the app. We do charge a fee for the app so that we don't have to look outside of our user base for revenue. We will use that revenue to continually update the app and provide features that we hope make your job easier. We have also made a strong effort to inform the user up front of the subscription model on the website and on the app description in the store. We will continue to look for ways to make sure that is even more clear. Thank you for the feedback which helps us provide a better product for the user and set the correct expectations from the first look.

### 3/5 — Subscription based app.... no thanks

*2021-05-02*

You get a free trial period, but then it is a SUBSCIPTION BASED app!If If paid subscriptions for every app that I use, I’d be broke. Yes, I know people make apps to make money, and thats fine. I have a few that I do subscribe to, just saying that I can’t afford to have them all. I would much rather pay a reasonable one-time charge.

### 4/5 — Works for LAANC

*2021-10-16*

Works well enough for submitting LAANC requests. I appreciate being able to do this for free with an AMA membership. Two features that would make this app better: integration with Siri Shortcuts (e.g. trigger a shortcut when starting and ending a flight) and automatically pulling up relevant NOTAMs when submitting a flight and making me assert that I’ve done so.

### 5/5 — Essential Tool for Commercial UAS

*2026-06-27*

This app has come a long way in the last few years since I first tried it. The Enterprise tools are affordable and a must for commercial operators with multiple pilots or a fleet of drones.

### 5/5 — sUAS Pilot? You need this app!

*2025-04-14*

I’ve been using the UASidekick app for a while now, and it’s easily one of the best tools out there for drone pilots. The interface is incredibly user-friendly—everything is laid out intuitively, making it simple to navigate whether you’re a seasoned pilot or just getting started.

One of the standout features for me is how fast and seamless it is to get LAANC authorization when flying in controlled airspace. What used to be a bit of a hassle with other tools is now a smooth, efficient process that takes just seconds. I’m always confident knowing I can get the clearance I need without any delays.

Overall, the app is extremely well put together—solid design, reliable performance, and features that actually make flying easier and safer. UASidekick has definitely become an essential part of my flight planning toolkit. Highly recommended!

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s got land

*2021-08-07*

I’ll pay for this. Super intuitive and easy to use. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Amazingly Easy

*2019-05-18*

I’ve been using this app very often this year for Survey flights and couldn’t be more pleased! Filing for approval only takes seconds- there is no other way that could better. Thank you for this awesome app!

**Developer response:** Thank you for downloading the app and for the review. We are continually working to improve the app and add features that we hope make your job easier.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2019-03-23*

This does all the work for you. The support from the developers is fantastic. Looking to use this for our whole Pd.

**Developer response:** Thank you for downloading the app. We are pleased that you like the app. We will continue to update the app and provide features that matter to the pilot. Thank you again for using UASidekick.

### 5/5 — Well designed and intuitive

*2017-09-14*

This is a thoughtfully designed app. File or review notices to airmen, see no-fly zones around airports, request privacy areas or request search and rescue right on the map. Click what you see on the map overlay to find out more about it. You can also click on an airport to get information or phone numbers for that airport. Everything is intuitive with relevant features embedded into the right places within the app. This app allows you to spend your time flying rather than tied up in the minutiae. It is quick, easy and functional with a sleek look and clean interface. It is a real pleasure to interact with this app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2017-09-12*

A quick concise tool to file NOTAMs and get on location situational awareness of the airspace around you. Must have tool

### 5/5 — Fantastic Situational Awareness Tool

*2017-09-12*

This is a great tool to help deconflict airspace! Integrating drones and manned aircraft in the NAS is a critical step necessary for the safety of everyone that flies. This app provides an easy way to let everyone up in our skies know where you are operating. Because it automatically uploads with FAA flight services, all pilots, manned and unmannned, are looking at the same system. It's not only highly inefficient to require viewing multiple platforms to understand who's flying where, but it's downright unsafe. This app solves that problem and makes it incredibly easy to file a flight plan. Takes me about 45 seconds! Thank you!
