### 4/5 — Great content but…

*2025-04-03, version 2.0*

The loop repeat did not replay when the screen is locked or unlocked. Thanks!

### 4/5 — Great content but…

*2023-06-14, version 1.6.4*

The loop repeat did not repeat when the screen is locked. I really hope the looping function works when the phone screen is locked. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Update Help

*2023-01-15, version 1.6*

Newest update doesn’t allow it to play on iPhone when screen is locked or when screen auto locks after a few minutes, ive tried deleting and redownloading it ! It makes it very hard to use for sleep, please fix this I use it daily !

### 4/5 — App stopped working when phone screen locks

*2023-01-14, version 1.6*

I love this app and often use the body scan meditation for sleep. I’ve been able to start the meditation and then run it during screen lock. That function suddenly stopped working. Disappointed.

### 5/5 — No rainbow woo or salesmanship, just solid mindfulness

*2022-12-04, version 1.5*

Been using this for years and I love it. Diana Winston brings an authenticity I don’t get from the kinda smarmy narrators of expensive subscription apps. The only thing I wish it had were a wider selection of her UCLA courses.

### 5/5 — Please add to list of mindful minute health apps

*2022-11-14, version 1.5*

I love this app, it’s kept me centered and connected but would be even better if apple would link it to the health app to track your time

### 5/5 — Meditation practices in many languages

*2022-07-26, version 1.4*

Have been looking for practices that are offered in different languages. So grateful for this app. Please add more practices for each of the languages offered!

### 5/5 — Free, useful, a must have

*2022-07-07, version 1.4*

I love the 5 minute meditations, and they’ve really improved my life.

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2022-05-11, version 1.3*

This is a great app for mindful exercises - easy to use and free

### 4/5 — Needs a good internet connection

*2022-05-03, version 1.3*

Good app, but doesn’t work well when you have poor internet connection. Seems to stream the meditations from the web rather than having them included in the app.

### 4/5 — Grateful for this App + More voice diversity please!

*2022-04-27, version 1.3*

I’m so incredibly grateful and thankful to UCLA for creating this app and providing these resources. The meditations are really helpful. I like that there is a variety in the types of meditations, lengths, and focus areas. It’s really easy to use and a wonderful resource. If there’s an opportunity in the future to record more meditations it would be amazing if they could add a variety of voices from people of diverse ethnicities and genders.

### 5/5 — Our Go To Meditation

*2022-03-23, version 1.3*

This has become the one app for simple meditations that we always go back to. Her voice is wonderfully soothing.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t Even Start

*2026-02-16, version 2.0*

I get error messages under each heading when I open the Get Started function. I guess UCLA is not what it once was.

### 1/5 — Half of the “Getting Started” videos don’t play

*2026-01-12, version 2.0*

Only 2 out of the 4 “Getting Started” videos work. If I can’t get started, then I’m not going to bother with the rest of it.

A shame too because I really wanted to try this because it’s from UCLA Health, which I have a lot of respect for.

### 1/5 — Version 1.6 issues on iPhone

*2023-01-18, version 1.6*

This is my daily app choice for meditation. The guided meditations are EXCEPTIONAL. Sadly the latest update (1.6) will only play on my iphone while the phone is awake now. This means I have to turn off my auto sleep setting to be able to meditate each morning. An unnecessary decision imho.

### 1/5 — Bug with update (not playing when screen off) otherwise 5 stars

*2023-01-18, version 1.6*

This app is great! I use it most nights to help me sleep, however a recent update caused the meditations to stop playing when the screen turns off and does not play in the background. Please fix!

### 1/5 — Problem with latest upgrade

*2023-01-14, version 1.6*

Low rating is for problem with upgrade. I use this app every day and love it. But now The 12 minute breath sound body meditation stops as soon as phone goes to sleep. This has never been an issue until this upgrade. Not sure if this happens with other meditations on the app as I always use the 12 minute one. Please fix!!

### 1/5 — Meditations don’t load

*2019-08-13, version 1.0.3*

The majority of the time when I open the app the meditations won’t load. They just say 0 for the time. Very disappointing. Also their website doesn’t work where the meditations used to be.

### 2/5 — Talks too much

*2024-01-26, version 1.6.4*

The presenter talks way too much during the mediations. Very unnecessary and disturbing. Please correct. Thank you.

### 2/5 — App no longer plays in iPhone Lock Screen

*2023-01-17, version 1.6*

Love this app but a bug in the update has made it nonfunctional on iPhone

### 2/5 — 1/13/23 update ruined the app

*2023-01-14, version 1.6*

I listen to the meditations every single night multiple times, it’s the only thing that helps me fall asleep. This new update has ruined my ability to. You must have the app open and keep your screen on for the meditation to play. If your screen goes dark or you exit the app it will stop. It never used to do this, and now I either have to change my settings with my screen being on always and be distracted by a bright screen at night, or find something else despite how much I love this app. Please fix this ASAP because it is a huge issue.

### 2/5 — The podcast worked much better for me.

*2020-09-20, version 1.2*

1) Their weekly sessions were available as a podcast until 2018. I have no idea why it ended. All the episodes are updated on the MARC website, publishing them as a podcast requires no extra effort.

2) This app does not allow sessions to be downloaded, they must be re-streamed each time.

3) This app is extraneous for my usage. I already have a podcast manager that I like, with better basic features for the way I listen.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — New update not working correctly!

*2026-05-30, version 3.1*

I’m having trouble with the new update, I click on the star and I can’t get favorites it only downloads it and I have no idea where it’s downloading to? Screen is not allowing me to move forward backwards unless I go to my home screen on my phone… Is anybody working with this app to see these problems? The meditations are fabulous, and I love all the features and availability to access all of them, but something is not the same as it used to be, please fix. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Wonderful and Free!

*2026-05-20, version 3.0*

Absolutely love this app. It helped me get into meditation - diana winston is also such a lovely, compassionate teacher. All of the content on here is free too! Great a la carte assortment of guided meditations you can pick from. Inspired me to take some UCLA mindful classes too. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Superb public service

*2026-05-17, version 3.0*

I’m so glad to see a public organization providing a near-top-of-the-line service without a silly yearly subscription. No paywall. Easy access to this wonderful knowledge base.

### 5/5 — Free and so useful

*2025-01-30, version 2.0*

This app is free! There’s no need to pay for Calm. This app has guided meditation and offers multiple languages. Download it, then use it for a few minutes when you feel overwhelmed. It helps!

### 5/5 — Thank You UCLA Mindful!

*2024-11-28, version 2.0*

I was prescribed daily guided meditations for my reoccurrence of treatment resistant depression - I do all the Health & Wellness guided meditations twice daily and has been a big help to me - I use them in conjunction with meds and daily walking routine. Thank you for making this free🙏

### 5/5 — Saved Me

*2024-11-12, version 2.0*

I started listening to UCLA’s Mindful app in Winter of 2017. I had just endured the longest, hardest year of my life. Grief. Guilt. Diana’s voice soothed me into heart and a peaceful mindset. Again, grief has hit us. We’ve lost six family members in two years. The most recent, my husbands’ mom, our son’s closest family member outside us. Sprinkle in selling and buying an expensive home, and I am back to panic. Of course I stopped meditating a few years ago. I’m back and will practice twice daily in hopes of lowering my crippling anxiety. I’ll couple this with CBT and socializing to encourage balance. Thank you so much for being here, being free, and sharing your calming gift with us!

### 5/5 — Diana Winston is so comforting

*2024-04-06, version 1.6.4*

I wish I’d known about this app sooner. Diana Winston has such a calm and balanced presence. I like having just one teacher or just a few people to rely on and hear each day. Some other meditation apps have way too many different people doing meditations. I prefer this style. Easy to navigate, simple to use and reliable.

### 5/5 — All you need

*2023-06-03, version 1.6.4*

No bells and whistles. Actually, one bell at the beginning an one at the end of session. The more easily recognized commercial apps are so bloated with pointless variants and celebrity voices and mind trinkets that it completely defeats the purpose. This has absolutely everything you need to develop a meditation routine and what you need is very little. Enough practice and even the app itself become superfluous.

### 5/5 — Great meditation app

*2023-01-22, version 1.6.2*

This app and the MARC instructors are great. They fixed the lock screen audio issue quickly too.

### 5/5 — Love this app. Meditations are great.

*2023-01-20, version 1.6.2*

Update: this bug was fixed and addressed immediately. Thanks! The new update causes the audio to stop on iPhone every time the screen lock comes on. It never used to do this before the latest update. It has made it unusable.
