So annoyed with the Google AI interface. Glad to have found this app to enable the bare bones Google search engine. I was at a point of changing my default search engine until I came across this. Easy to install as an extension.

This works great for me as long as I'm logged out of my Google account. It hides the AI search slop.

As soon as I log into my Google account everything returns and the extension is no longer effective.

I'm not sure if that's a Google limitation or a problem with the extension. It would be nice if the developer chimed in.

I followed the instructions. I downloaded the extension, I enabled it, I set Google to allow, and then I did a typical search. I usually type my searches in the search bar. I did this and immediately Google AI results popped up.

So, I tried this app for both of my phones (yes I have two phones), and at first it was working just well and did what it needed to do. However, specifically for my iPhone 11, when I updated to iOS 26, it just stopped working on altogether and wasn’t functioning properly. On the contrary, my other iPhone, it works perfectly fine with no problems. So, I don’t know if google has something to do with it, or if it’s not on par with the current iOS update, but I really don’t want to give it a very low rating. Until the matter is resolved, I’ll only give it 3/5 for now. Once the issue has been fixed, then I’ll change it to a perfect 5/5. That’s all.

If I make a search like “foo123” in quotes, the redirect crashes. I think having a quoted term with numbers is enough to trigger this bug.

I installed udm14 prior to the current iOS update and it was fantastic. A true marvel, it blocked 99.9% of all ai related garbage. It was nearly perfect. After the latest update, it’s completely broken. Websites load absurdly slowly, if at all. Buttons and clickables randomly stop functioning. Crashes to the homescreen are commonplace. One time the phone locked so badly I literally could not even turn it off by holding the volume+screen lock buttons! Trying to type a new search in the current tab will crash safari. For each new search I have to close safari, reopen it and type it in that way. The worst part is I couldn’t find a convenient way to contact anyone regarding these issues—I’m just a normal person and the udm page is full of what looks like computer code and crazy jargon to me. There’s no easy clickable link to get in contact with support, not that I could find. 

I sincerely hope the plethora of issues with udm14 get fixed with an update soon, because I dearly loved it before it stopped working. If and when it’s fixed I’ll be more than happy to give this the full 5 star rating, but for now it’s a nightmare.
