Mobile deposit have never been stellar but with this latest version, no matter what I try, dark surface, manual picture, flat as flat can be, it will either not recognize the front numbers, says the sizes don’t match when taking a pic of the back of the check, and clearly the same AI that rejected it the first time is also doing the review, thus again rejecting. So now I have to drive an hour to the local coop branch to deposit in person. And don’t do an auto response about how sorry the developer is and to call UFCU. Thanks! ### 4/5 — Please go back to the old app!! *2023-07-05* Update: This app is easy to use now and I like the new login feature of using face ID. They have also gotten the online deposit back to where it works…but I still miss not having canned reports showing what was spent by category and what was deposited by category. Old review from when they first changed: This new app is terrible! It is harder to use, the mobile deposit is SO VERY DIFFICULT, and it is not esthetically pleasing at all. Just last night and today I tried to use the mobile deposit. Last night it gave me an error saying it wasn’t able to take a deposit. Today it was ready but golly what a hassle! I tried it with the default manual setting and couldn’t get it to work so I went to auto. It took pictures that were blurry and gave error messages I didn’t understand. It also kept taking pictures after it took the picture of the check with the countdown. The old app is SO FAR SUPERIOR FOR THE USER!!! One day, the app randomly booted my log in information and face ID. I went to reset my password since I had forgotten it and relied on the app’s auto saving/face id function to access my account. What followed was not being able to continue using the app despite numerous attempts to delete and reinstall it, the same error message displaying every time I entered the correct log in data to try to accessing mobile banking. Upon changing over to another iPhone and redownloading this app, I was still unable to log in. Logged in twice every month to pay my 2 loans with ufcu via safari on ufcu’s website because of the app’s improper function. Very inconvenient. When the app worked for me, it was just fine, no complaints; I haven’t been able to login for A YEAR and the same message displays to this day despite entering the proper login info…. Please reach out to our customer support team at 512-467-8080. ### 1/5 — Get a real developer. *2023-02-12, version 2019.1.323* This thing essentially wasn’t tested. That’s the big thing you need to know, if nothing else. The UI looks like something from 1998, except without the robustness of information you got in tools of that era. It’s unintuitive and merely ugly. It’s prone to bugs that would have come out in even casual testing. For instance, right now when I open the app a dialog box shows up saying “Error not found in listing”. Well that’s useless. Why even tell me that? Each time I try to write my password the box shows up again, interrupting me, and blocking me from writing. Best yet, it resets what I’ve written so when I try to write the password it starts over. In other words, some unexplained error is allowed to shut down your use of the app. You get no explanations. You get nothing. Whatever bottom dollar, no name company you farmed this out to, find someone else. There are CS students who do better work. Pitiful. One star is too high a rating. ### 1/5 — Still doesn’t work *2023-02-04, version 2019.1.323* I’m writing a follow up review to one I wrote a few weeks ago which UFCU actually responded to claiming that the mobile deposit feature had been fixed with the new update. It has absolutely not been fixed, as a matter of fact it has gotten even worse. The app will allow me to take a front picture of the check, revert from landscape to portrait and then freeze: not allowing me to photograph the back of the check. If it does revert back to landscape, half the screen is black! So even if I am able to take a photo I get error message after error message over and over and over. I have been trying to deposit my check for over a week now!! I have tried changing the settings on my phone and I have tried multiple times. It’s 2023!! This is a horrible glitch to have happen repeatedly and is affecting my already sad financial situation so negatively. I don’t live in Texas anymore so I NEED mobile deposit and I love(d) UFCU but this is dealbreaking. We look forward to speaking with you soon! ### 1/5 — Deposit feature doesn’t work!!! *2023-01-31, version 2019.1.323* I have complained in person at the bank, and now I’m complaining here. The feature for mobile deposit will only photograph the front of the check. When I try to photograph the back, the orientation of the frame changes and blacks out half of the image, and will not allow me to photograph the whole check. Half of the frame is blacked out! I’m sure I’m not the only one with this experience. Please fix your app, because it’s basically useless to me now without that feature. ### 1/5 — Can’t Deposit Check *2023-01-01, version 2019.1.323* This has been going on for weeks and weeks, but I cannot deposit checks anymore. I can scan the front of the check, but then, when the program switches to scan the back of the check, it glitches out and half of the screen is black, and it does not detect the check. I’ve been a member for almost 20 years, and in this day and age, not being able to deposit a check with the app is unacceptable. Especially when I am told every time I go into the branch to “just use the app” 😡 ### 1/5 — Can’t scan the back of a check *2022-12-12, version 2019.1.323* I’ll say what many others have said: I love UFCU and the people there are just wonderful but this app really stinks. My current difficulties are: (1) The app can’t take a photo of the back of a check for mobile deposit on an iPhone because the camera gets all weird. (2) The app basically never can read the information from the front of a check so nearly all mobile deposits have to be reviewed. (3) I cannot switch between my personal and business accounts. I ended up using my iPhone for the business account and my iPad for my personal account. Not a workaround that I enjoy. ### 1/5 — Epic fail *2022-11-08, version 2019.1.323* I don’t know what happened with this app. I have been a UFCU client for more than a decade and their app has never been so buggy. It recently started showing an error “We’re sorry but the Mobile application is currently unavailable”. On top of that, their app cannot communicate properly with my phone camera when I try to deposit checks. Taking a pic of the check front works fine but when I am supposed to take a picture of the back of my check, half the screen (as seen through my camera) all of a sudden becomes black. It’s impossible to take a picture of the check that way. What happened??? ### 1/5 — Mobile deposit just stopped working *2022-10-26, version 2019.1.323* I have a relatively new iPhone 13. It’s great, every app and function works. Except…wait for it…UFCU’s horrible app. Out of nowhere the single feature I use the most, mobile check deposit, stopped working. Glitches on the screen where you take a photo of the back of the check. And no, it’s NOT my phone. UFCU customer service is no help either. I sent three messages, got generic replies. I even went to the trouble of doing a screen recording to show the exact issue, shared that with them. Crickets. I actually like UFCU as a bank but the app is a deal killer.
