## What is Ukilu?

Ukilu runs the front desk of a salon: the calendar, the till, the customer book and the waiting queue — on the iPad at your counter and the iPhone in your pocket. It is a tool for the people who work in the shop, not an app for booking one.

ASK KILU
Kilu is the assistant built into your shop. Ask a question in your own words — "revenue this week", "who's booked today", "which customers haven't been in for three months" — and get the answer straight from your own live data. Bookings, takings, tips, gift cards, loyalty points, reviews, deposits, discounts, your busiest hour, who is rostered on. Kilu only reports what is actually in your shop; it never estimates a number it cannot see. Ask by typing or by voice, or paste a phone number to find out whose it is.

THE DAY, ON ONE SCREEN
A calendar built for a busy day: a column per staff member, drag a booking to move it, and a full day scrolls as smoothly as an empty one. Book in four short steps and read the whole thing back before you commit. Block out time, hold slots with a deposit, and rebook a client in a couple of taps.

THE TILL
Take a sale on the iPhone or the iPad. Split one sale across several cash and card tenders. Tips added on the payment terminal are captured against the sale and returned on a refund. Charge a paired Tyro, Square or Linkly terminal straight from the till, print to a thermal printer, and show the total on a customer-facing display over USB-C or HDMI.

THE QUEUE
Walk-ins get a ticket and a place in line. The waiting list shows who is next, how long each person has been waiting and when the room is likely to clear — and it stays in step across every device in the shop.

YOUR CUSTOMERS
A proper contact list with search, tags, service notes and photos. See what someone had last time, what they have spent, and when they were last in. Run a loyalty scheme with your own points-to-discount rules, redeemed at check-in. Sell and redeem gift cards.

REMINDERS THAT ACTUALLY ARRIVE
Send booking confirmations and appointment reminders as SMS, delivered to your customer's phone by a mobile carrier from your shop's message allowance. Staff get a push notification the moment a booking lands.

KNOW WHERE YOU STAND
Revenue, transactions and average sale on the home screen, updating the moment a checkout finishes. Reports on services, staff, payment methods and busiest days. In-app reviews and Google Business reviews in one place. A Home Screen widget for today's takings.

WORKS THE WAY A SHOP WORKS
Roles and permissions per staff member, so a technician sees the calendar and an owner sees the money. English and Vietnamese throughout. iPhone and iPad, with the layout each one deserves.

ACCOUNT REQUIRED
Ukilu is a business tool sold to salon owners as part of a Ukilu subscription. You need a shop account from us to sign in; there is no public sign-up in the app, and it is not used by salon customers.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-30

Group bookings, done properly.

When a customer books for their friends, the whole party now arrives as one booking instead of several unrelated ones.

• One alert, not four. A party of four used to set off four notifications in a row. Now it's a single alert that tells you how many people are coming.
• The calendar shows the party. A bracket links their appointments across your staff columns, and each block carries a badge with the group size - so you can see at a glance that 11AM needs four pairs of hands, not one. On iPhone and iPad.
• Everyone in one tap. Open any booking in the group to see all of them - name, service, staff member and price - and switch between people without going back.
• One bill. Check the whole party out together, and each person's takings still land with the staff member who did the work, so your revenue-by-staff and daily income sheet stay right.
• Cancel the whole group in one action, freeing every chair at once instead of one at a time.

Also in this version:
• A guest booked without their own phone number now shows their real name on the calendar instead of "Walk-in".

Group booking is switched on per shop - contact us if you'd like it enabled. Once it's on, your booking page only offers customers the times you genuinely have enough staff free, so a party never books seats you can't cover.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-20

Meet Kilu, your shop assistant:
• Ask in your own words — "revenue this week", "who's booked today", "customers we haven't seen in 3 months" — and get the answer from your own live data. Kilu only reports what is actually in your shop; it never estimates a number it cannot see.
• More than twenty things it can pull up: bookings and cancellations, revenue and tips, gift cards and loyalty points, reviews, deposits, discounts, busiest hours, who is rostered on, messages sent, and how today is tracking against a normal one.
• Ask by voice, or paste a phone number to find out whose it is.
• It follows the conversation: ask "revenue last week", then just "and bookings?".

Booking, step by step:
• Creating a booking on iPhone is four short screens — customer, services, schedule — then a review of the whole thing before you commit.
• Set a length instead of an end time. It fills in from the services you picked.
• Services are grouped by category, and what you have chosen stays readable as you add to it.

Waiting list, now on iPhone:
• The queue is the screen: positions, how long each person has waited, and an estimate of when the room clears.
• Only the person about to sit down gets the big button, so a busy queue still reads at a glance.
• It refreshes itself, so the front-desk iPad and a phone stay in step.

POS, rebuilt for iPhone:
• Taking a sale is one screen: an entry surface with a cart bar that always shows your running total and the Charge button.
• Split payments: settle one sale across several cash and card tenders, with each card leg sent to the terminal for exactly that amount. A refund gives each leg back the same way.
• Tips added on the terminal are captured against the sale, shown as their own line on the invoice, and returned on a refund.
• Square Terminal: charge a paired terminal straight from the till.
• Receipts: the customer copy no longer prints twice.

New: Loyalty tab (opt-in):
• For shops running the check-in kiosk without POS. See who checked in today and can already afford a reward, and hand it over on the spot.
• Shops set their own points-to-discount options, and the buttons spell out what a redemption is worth ("5 points → $5 off").
• A reward is claimed by the first iPad to handle it, so the same points can never be deducted twice.

A much faster calendar:
• A full day of bookings scrolls as smoothly as an empty one.
• Typing in checkout no longer re-renders the calendar behind it.

Customers and Home:
• The customer directory reads as a proper contact list — around nine per screen instead of three — with search in the navigation bar.
• The tab strip on a customer's detail screen stays pinned when you switch tabs.
• Revenue, Transactions and Average Sale update the moment you finish a checkout, and each section appears as it arrives instead of waiting on the slowest one. Pull to refresh.

Also in this release:
• Google Business reviews now sit alongside your booking-link reviews, in one place.
• A More tab with its own screens, including a place to refer another shop.
• The app opens on a screen that shows it is working, instead of a still logo.
• Barcode and QR scan sheets fill the screen on iPhone, with a full-bleed camera and an aiming frame.
• Check-in and waiting-list times read in the shop's own timezone.
• Stability fixes across Settings and Integrations.

### 1.0.25 — 2026-08-10

Square Terminal payments:
Enter a total on the iPad, tap Card, and the amount appears on your paired Square Terminal for the customer to tap. What you send is what's charged - surcharge is already applied, and tipping is switched off on the reader. Pair a reader under Settings › Square Terminal. Get in touch, and we'll enable it for your shop.

Drag a booking to a new time - now on iPad:
Press and hold a booking, then drag it. A guideline follows you with the target time spelled out, so even a 15-minute booking lands exactly where you meant. Dragging on iPad previously did nothing at all; it works now, across staff columns as well as times.

A calmer calendar:
The calendar no longer redraws every time you touch the checkout keypad, so the keypad stays smooth mid-sale. Opening a day's appointments is quicker too.

Also in this release:
- Features switched off for your shop now stay off everywhere they could be reached, not just on the obvious button
- The check-in redeem queue shows the people at your counter now, rather than everyone since opening

### 1.0.24 — 2026-08-06

Loyalty program, without opening the register
• Turn on the new Loyalty tab and every customer who checks in with enough points shows up in a live queue at the counter.
• One tap deducts the points and spells out what to hand over: "5 points → $5 off" — with a confirmation before anything is taken.
• "Other amount…" lets you type any number of points and shows what it's worth, for rewards that don't fit your preset options.
• Set your own "spend N points → this much off" options in Settings › Loyalty. They now appear at checkout too.

Reviews, at the counter
• A new Reviews screen brings customer feedback into the app: total reviews, average rating, ratings per staff member, and who still needs a follow-up.
• Mark a customer as contacted and leave an internal note that only your team can see.
• Connected your Google Business Profile? A second tab shows your Google reviews and lets you post or edit a public reply without leaving the app.

SMS credits
• A warning card on the More screen tells you credits are running low while there's still time to top up — not after messages start failing.
• SMS history now shows send times in your device's own timezone.

Fixes and polish
• Fixed a freeze some iPhones hit when opening the More screen.
• Switching between English and Vietnamese is noticeably faster.
• The features on screen now match your plan consistently across iPhone and iPad.

### 1.0.23 — 2026-08-04

Booking deposits - now on iPhone and iPad

• Every booking shows its deposit: how much, whether it came in through Stripe or was taken by hand, and when an unpaid hold is released.
• Mark a deposit as received when someone pays at the counter, or refund it. If there was no online charge to reverse, the app tells you plainly instead of letting you believe the customer was paid back.
• Bookings still waiting on a deposit are amber on the calendar and in the day list, so a held slot is never mistaken for a confirmed one.
• Checkout collects only what is left. A deposit already paid is taken off before the card terminal, the customer-facing display and the printed receipt — while the sale still records the full amount, so your revenue reports do not change.
• Owners can set the deposit rules in Settings: percentage, minimum and maximum, how many visits make someone a regular, and how long a slot is held.

Also in this version

• SMS history showed send times in the server's timezone, which could be hours out. It now shows them in your device's own time.
