Unfortunately the experience is often ruined by aggressive, dark pattern ads when the app starts trying to make me sign up for extra “courses” features I neither need or want. I do not want and will never want courses thank you. I happily pay for the features I want. Last week the guys started playing an adhoc song that’s not on our usual list and the song was half finished by the time I got the tab open to join in ### 4/5 — Excellent….but *2026-08-25, version 4.2.2* Yep, UG is great for looking up tunes but it would be even better if (as a subscriber) I didn’t have to be pummelled with ads to upgrade. ### 2/5 — We will see *2026-08-07, version 4.2.2* Initially was frustrating, but we will see ### 3/5 — So much potential if sheet music functionality was improved *2026-08-01, version 4.2.2* As a pianist, the sheet music and in particular the pro versions have been very useful. But as someone trying to arrange various rock/pop songs for piano it's quite frustrating that there's a lack of customisation, namely: -Only being able to view one section at a time -Transposing results in difficult reading as it doesn't switch between to bass/treble clefs -Inability to take notes -Lyrics inconsistently showing up I understand a lot of the tabs/music are community-generated. But adding functionality to customise it to bring it up to a functional level of that of Sibelius (but simplified for tablets and performance-focus etc) would be amazing. It would even justify a more premium pricepoint (if it was regularly updated and improved on, without bloat and less annoying pop-ups to upgrade) ### 1/5 — Do not download *2026-07-22, version 4.2.2* I hate this godforsaken app. There are FAR too many ads. Good luck trying to find any chords or tabs. There is a 99.9% chance you will be tricked into clicking on an ad, and even if you aren’t, you have to constantly exit out of them. You cannot access any tabs without paying as well. You are better off watching YouTube tutorials and writing your own tabs. ### 1/5 — App *2026-07-18, version 4.2.2* I updated the app as required 2 days ago. Now the music / lyrics tabs won’t open online or offline. Endless surveys and prompts to pay for their pro service before I’ve even tried the app. Do you guys seriously expect anyone serious to pay before even trying your app? In the end I uninstalled. Here are just a few of the bad things… 1) I set it to play acoustic guitar but the sound comes out like an electric harpsichord, despite me changing the volumes of the various instrument options. 2) The music it plays is not what is shown on the tab. There are extra chords and different notes. 3) The music it plays for songs I know well is very different indeed from how the artist plays it. I often have several different recordings of a song and the ug version isn’t like any of them . 4) when it tries to “optimise “ the app to suit your needs, the choices are very limited e.g. it doesn’t even have blues as a style option. Needless to say, I have cancelled my 7 day free trial. ### 1/5 — Latest update no good *2026-07-08, version 4.2.2* As others have said the latest update has all sorts of issues. I’m a pro subscriber but have just cancelled my subscription as I’m sick of all of the spam and upselling as soon as you open the App ### 1/5 — Not for professional use *2026-07-08, version 4.2.2* Despite paying for the app, you’ll get spammed with ads you can’t skip trying to sell you more in-app purchases, when trying to use the app that you’ve already paid for. Insufferable when needing a quick chart, and shows contempt for their paid users ### 1/5 — Don’t bother if you’ve been playing for less than a few years *2026-07-06, version 4.2.2* This is a detailed app with so much content but it’s so technically complicated - I went from practicing every single day using Yousician to maybe once a month because I found it too complicated for my little brain- it’s not worth it. ### 2/5 — Okay, but for the free tier you could probably find better chord/tab online. *2026-07-05, version 4.2.2* Great variety, Most versions require an upgrade. The yearly subscription promo claims 90% off a $999 price, bringing it to $99. But the regular monthly price is only $20.99, so 12 months would be ~$251, not $999. This makes the ‘original’ price look artificially inflated to make the discount seem bigger than it is. The deal is still okay value, but the misleading advertised savings feels dishonest. ### 3/5 — Issues after update *2026-07-05, version 4.2.2* Changing the pitch to match standard tuning (Lower tunings bring up) on songs has to be readjusted every time I reenter a song. After I have used that up - won’t change in further. I have to delete app and restart it to fix problem. Hopefully someone see this review and fixes the problem. The 7 day “free” trials also demand payment straight away.
