### 1/5 — Broken and missing functionality

*2026-04-23*

You cannot use this software to update controller firmware, nor does rebinding the extra buttons work at all. After binding the back buttons and extra shoulder buttons, they don’t actually do anything when attempting to use the controller on my Switch 2. The software also can not be used to create macros.

### 1/5 — You can’t save button changes

*2026-04-15, version 1.0.5*

What’s the point of this app if there is mo ability to save button configurations. Did you even use the app once you created it?

### 1/5 — Missing inputs

*2026-04-11*

Why does my “Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller” have back paddle buttons yet this app doesn’t let you send M1 and M2 signals to iOS that are clearly defined in the controller SDK? And they are so obviously visible in iOS controller settings. 8BitDo just says “nah, best I can do is let the back paddles copy another input”. This is made even worse by the fact that that iOS hijacks the “back/select/view” button. You know, the one that’s used by 90% of games for stuff like inventory, maps, settings. Not possible. Thanks for nothing.

### 1/5 — It won’t even pick up my Ultimate 2 wireless controller.

*2026-04-11*

Disappointed.

The V1 or V2 app does not detect the Ultimate 2 wireless controller even when it’s already paired to the iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. I was hoping to be able to remap buttons on the fly when traveling and don’t have access to a computer.

### 1/5 — Why does it only support a limited number of 8bitdo controllers?

*2026-04-11*

Why are the ios options so limited? My SN30 connects to my ipad just fine, but I’m not allowed to remap it unless I own a desktop computer? What the heck?? Why isn’t there a “nintendo” style control scheme in the base controller options like every other controller out there. Seriously this makes zero sense. Will never buy 8bitdo again.

### 1/5 — No macro?

*2026-03-30, version 1.0.5*

Come on

### 1/5 — Trash app

*2026-03-20, version 1.0.5*

Not compatible for sn30pro mapping for iOS

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-03-07, version 1.0.3*

Would be better if I can use this to program macros and jump back
Into my game. Otherwise, no point and I’d have to plug in to the computer every time

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-02-28, version 1.0.3*

Doesn’t load or even let me add my sn30 pro. Says “connect to 8bitdo” while I’m literally connected and it doesn’t let me do anything

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2026-02-11, version 1.0.3*

Doesn’t connect.

### 1/5 — Very bad app TRUST ME NEVER BUY THE 8bitdo you will regret it

*2026-02-08, version 1.0.3*

Very hard to work and crashes
All the time! The controller is good but the app is just embarrassing. can’t navigate properly, crashes almost straight away and doesn’t actually do anything other than crash awful app pls change it, and fix it

### 1/5 — A pointless exercise in frustration…

*2026-01-18, version 1.0.3*

It honestly feels like 8bitdo has a deliberate contempt for its Mac/iOS customers. It’s impossible to connect and update my Retro NES keyboard to this app or update it properly in their Mac OS app either. Same with their Ultimate 2 gamepad.

### 2/5 — It doesn’t pair with ultimate 2

*2026-01-09*

I have the ultimate 2 controller and although it is supported, the app won’t go beyond the pair screen. it provides an indication that is no longer used, for real customatization you gotta download the desktop version.

### 1/5 — Can’t recognize any controller.

*2026-01-02, version 1.0.3*

Don’t waste your time, trust me. Instead of downloading this useless app, watch this video to remap your controller in 3 easy steps. JUST DO NOT BUY THIS APP BECAUSE IT IS A WASTE OF STORAGE

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Completely useless

*2026-07-12*

This app is simply awful. The whole point of using this app is to map the buttons freely and create macros. These are all functions available in version 1. You thought this app would be better, but nope! None of these functions is available. It makes no sense to use those controllers and this app now.

### 1/5 — Trash doesn’t work

*2026-07-08, version 1.0.7*

Won’t detect ultimate controller

### 1/5 — Just crashes

*2026-07-02*

This app is kinda horrible. You can’t map any buttons which is the main perk of this controller. Also whenever I open vibration settings it just full on crashes.

### 1/5 — Simply does not work on the Ultimate 2 controller

*2026-06-26, version 1.0.7*

It connects but never updates the changes. The PC app works fine.

### 1/5 — Ultimate 2 bluetooth isnt pairing

*2026-06-22, version 1.0.7*

When I use the controller regularly its great but when I try to access the software, it doesn’t get recognized pr paired.

### 1/5 — 64 2.4

*2026-05-29, version 1.0.5*

Won’t update dongle on the 64 2.4 controller. 8bitdo support website says version 1.77 is available but it doesn’t show on app.

### 1/5 — exetremly buggy!

*2026-05-22, version 1.0.5*

Always crashes when switched to vibration tab.
Unable to edit macros.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t support ultimate 2 wireless controller

*2026-05-14*

Doesn’t support ultimate 2 wireless controller, supports the bluetooth version which I opted not to get due to compatibility issues with my other devices. Can’t rebind as I don’t have a windows computer and this app is missing major devices in their product line.

### 1/5 — Crashes on startup

*2026-05-06, version 1.0.5*

Crashes on startup, reinstall does nothing

### 1/5 — Don’t just DONT

*2026-05-02*

It will brick your device , I thought I could use this app for updates and when try and connect it to my switch it doesn’t let me. It was working fine before I connected to my phone.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Remember to update firmware, lets you use the controller to its fullest

*2026-06-27, version 1.0.7*

I was worried when I saw other reviews of the app, I thought I would have to plug my 8bitdo pro 3 into my pc when ever I wanted to make changes to the button config, so this app works fully as intended. Didn’t experience crashes or any issues at all, not saying they don’t exist. I have a feeling some people come to this app before installing the software to update the controllers firmware, which has led to issues. But as a customer who follows instructions it has worked perfectly! Can’t recommend enough.

### 5/5 — A step back

*2026-01-24*

Opening the software, what is immediate is the step back in customizable buttons. You cannot remap the home button, which was one of the reasons I got this.

### 5/5 — Nice controllers.

*2025-12-26, version 1.0.3*

I have 5 of them :)

### 5/5 — 比之前的好用

*2025-09-10, version 1.0.1*

支持手柄控制这很棒，而且新固件可以手动控制蓝牙连 App，不会再有其他人扫描到我的手柄导致配置灯无故闪烁了😂

### 4/5 — Great but crashes

*2026-01-15, version 1.0.3*

The app is great and i love it but whenever i use touchscreen it crashes and i have to re-pair my controller

### 4/5 — No macros?

*2025-10-27*

I don’t have an apron to set up macros everything else works I believe

### 3/5 — Broken Vibration Tab

*2026-01-19*

Whenever I try to access the vibration tab, the app crashes. It’s only that tab.

### 3/5 — Missing Essential Feature

*2025-12-29*

I greatly appreciate this app’s inclusion in the App Store, which is more convenient than navigating through the long list of controllers on the 8bitdo website to locate their flagship product. However, I have not located a method of determining the controller’s current firmware version within the app, and subsequently any way to determine if the firmware needs to be updated. Once corrected, I will raise my score.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t support 8BitDo ultimate 2 despite the website says it does it works only on PC

*2025-10-03*

I was insanely disappointed seeing I had to purchase a device using google play or the App Store and my only options to me were a Chromebook and Mac book considering you can only remap it on PC

### 2/5 — Very Buggy

*2026-03-15*

I see what they were trying to do here, but There are a LOT of bugs when trying to customize my Ultimate 2 Bluetooth controller. Sliders don’t work and glitch out (I had a trigger zone stuck on “2” and had to fiddle with it for 15 minutes to reset it to 0 because it wouldn’t move to the right) I also couldn’t customize the RGB lighting, even though I finally got it where I like (with the wonky sliders) it never saved to the controller. Needs a lot of work.
