## What is Ultra Baker?

Ultra Baker is a sourdough baker's percentage calculator built around how real baking works. Pick the loaf weight you want — it scales total flour, water, salt, and a two-stage starter in real time.

TWO MODES
• Beginner — pick how many loaves and bake. 1200g loaves, 67% hydration, two-stage starter. The numbers just appear.
• Pro — tune hydration (55–85%), salt, starter %, old-starter carry-over %, starter hydration with a "Link to dough" toggle, starter proof time, and a flour blend with as many flours as you want — sliders that always rebalance to 100%.

A BAKE-DAY TIMER THAT MAKES SENSE
Eight phases from "build starter" to "rest before cutting", each with the right time and oven temperature. Once you press start, the timer keeps running and pings you for each step transition — even with the app closed. Lock-screen Live Activity and Dynamic Island show the active phase and countdown without unlocking your phone. Manual prev/next phase navigation if you want to skip ahead or step back.

A STARTER GUIDE BUILT IN
Tap the book icon for a step-by-step starter guide — Beginner shows the recipe (1:1 by weight, 1/3 forward, 5–7 days to ready); Pro adds the science (yeast vs. lactic acid, fridge math, float test).

WHY A CALCULATOR?
Most sourdough recipes give you one fixed loaf at one fixed hydration. Real baking is percentages: change the loaf weight or push the hydration and everything else has to change with it. Ultra Baker does that math in one step so you can spend the time at the bench, not the spreadsheet.

• Made for iPad — a real two-column layout with your recipe library beside the calculator.
• Apple Watch — the countdown now ticks live on your wrist instead of waiting for the next sync.

Smoother lock-screen timer — the bake countdown on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island no longer freezes between phases. It now ticks continuously from the first step to the last, and the "Bake complete" banner clears itself instead of lingering.
