Good game, very competent survivor like. However sometimes doesn’t save progress. When you click settings it shows total kills(?) yet doesn’t tally up ( unsure). And sometimes xp disappears but otherwise very fun game. Works offline too

I’ve had this game since day 1. Now that you added “spire” mode and the side scrolling mode I still have no idea how to play them. The menus are so confusing. Please streamline the menu so it’s easier to choose which game type to play!

Ultra Blade is a blast and is a great addition to the bullet heaven genre. That said, I think this game could use a couple of QOL updates, such as landscape/controller support. I would love to enjoy this on my iPad in full screen but it’s going to have to stay on my phone instead.

I have been playing this game regularly for a couple years. Unfortunately after taking a break and restarting the game I have a bug where I can’t unlock any new zones. Everything else works perfectly but this keeps me from progressing and unlocking everything.

**Developer response:** Thanks for playing! Apologies for the bug, looking into a fix. In the meantime, if the issue is what I think it is, then you should be able to progress by making sure you don't have any cores equipped.

Played one round of this game and it the game got hang after my character died. I forced restarted the game and it couldn’t load, for the first time in all my life playing mobile games, an error message appear with a black screen.

Thought I’d give this game a chance, first impressions wasn’t great and due to the fact that it can’t continue, I wouldn’t know if this is actually a great game.

I have an iphone 13 pro and this app just stopped working everytime I open it I see a black screen. When it was working the game was fire!

**Developer response:** Is there a am error code on the black screen? If so, please take a screenshot and email it to me. Otherwise you may need to try reinstalling the app. Apologies for the hassle, ill look into a fix.

I like it but there are some bugs. I beat 1000 enemies in one run and through a combo but the specific character won’t unlock and I did defeat a Void serpent, but that character won’t unlock either. Hoping for a fix on this! Otherwise amazing game for passing the time!

the whole concept with not beeing able to run and instead need to dash isn't fun for me. i have less opportunites as beeing able to walk and shoot. also the game crashed after an hour with an error code saying it wasn able to load my playsave.

Two years later and nothing was fixed.
Here's my old review for context:
The game is unfortunately slightly messed up at the moment. Parts of the UI are cut off by the left & right edges of the screen. There's a button labeled "nper ". What does it do? Who knows. It's possible there's stuff completely hidden beyond the screen edges, too, but there's not really any way to know.

**Developer response:** Would you be able to email me your device info at foolishmortalstudios@gmail.com?  I haven't heard of this issue before- will look for a fix.

This game looks like it could be fun, but most characters use melee, but if you get close to enemies, you are guaranteed to take damage. 
You could try to use guns, but good luck aiming. You can have the enemy directly in front of you barrel, but somehow you miss.
Regularly I am no where near any enemy attack, but somehow still take damage. Either the game is cheating, or the graphics don’t match the hit boxes.

My game kept crashing. Noticed it wasn’t updated in 2 years, but thought to email the developer anyway. He responded and fixed the game within weeks. This is why I buy from indy devs, they care about the players.

**Developer response:** Please delete and reinstall the app with the latest update to fix the issue. Sorry for the bug! And thank you for reporting it.

Really love this game but the new update made it super zoomed in for me (iPhone 16 Pro Max) behind the Dynamic Island and the settings are hard to get to! Other than that I love it.

It’s good fun! Once you get going it is addicting and hard to stop playing as I just keep wanting to do better, try more play styles, and get more unlocks. Which very quickly you are able to unlock more characters, aka Blades.

I did notice something that could maybe be tweaked is that when first starting out I found the level select screen a little bit confusing at first. It took me a moment to figure out how to start the game. But as soon as you play your first match the next time you are on the level select it becomes clear as gems begin appearing on the blade that represent the various levels you can play.

I really like the character unlock/select screen that works as the main menu. It looks very sleek and the background imagery with the moving clouds are very cool! 

One bit of feedback for the dev I might mention for this and other works is that I love the bits of dialogue and lore backdrops within Immortal Rogue, and the little character bios and planetary backstories in Blast Waves. I am sure you try to limit the story elements both as an artistic choice and also so as not to overburden your workload, but you make great worlds and if possible I would love to see a little more of those elements in this and other games of yours! I hope that you will consider this.

To other potential players I would definitely recommend this game, and others by this dev. especially if you like rogue-likes.

Edit: I want to try Spire mode! How do you unlock it, or access it?

An amazing roguelike bullet heaven game with simple controls but good depth and progression. Attacks feel weighty and it takes more involvement and technical skill than some other games in the genre. Love the art style and backgrounds of the levels. Loads smoothly and quickly, making it easy to jump into the game. 

Only complaints are about some UI things:
- some buttons near the edge feel a bit too close to the edge, causing them to feel squished or even obscured by things like my iOS home handle
- wish there was a way to quit the round instead of just letting yourself die (which is pretty easy to do, haha)
- wish there was a way to go back to the main weapon/character selection screen after you reach the level selection

It’s day 4, and I don’t know where I am anymore. It doesn’t matter though. All that matters is how close I am to unlocking Guy With Even Bigger Sword. 

Then maybe I can rest. Then, maybe, I can cut a swathe through the unending hordes that will echo through their very DNA. My blade, a message that I am not to be messed with, because the sun is now coming up and I have to be up for work in 3 hours.

Seriously though “Developer Kyle Barrett”, you have a LOT of hours of lost sleep to answer for and the only way you can make it up to me is to please never stop making games I’m begging you please!

Loving the game overall. Only issue is I had a glitch after second time trying to open the game. When I pressed the app it went to a blank screen and I closed it multiple times and retried. No solution worked but to uninstall and reinstall. Not sure what the issue was. Otherwise enjoying the game so far and will update review as I go.

If you’ve played roguelites, Ultra Blade, should feel pretty familiar I would think. But, even if you haven’t I would say this is one of the best in the genre to start your rouguelite journey with. ——————————————————————————— I find it very fun and entertaining to keep playing, dying and then continually upgrading my characters and stats. There are a lot of characters and a seemingly endless amount of weapons and other items to unlock and mix and match for your play-throughs. As someone who has played other popular roguelites, such as Vampire Survivors and most especially, Dead Cells. Well, I personally would put this above Vampire Survivors and just a nano meter below, Dead Cells. But, for just pure fun to be had and the love of gaming. I have a hard time not awarding, Ultra Blade, the top spot over all of them. I keep telling myself, “Just one more level and then I’ll get back to real life.” Haha. It’s not easy to pull myself away from this game, though. I find it very entertaining and addictive. I don’t say the latter about too many video games that I own or have played. ——————————————————————————— Many thanks to the developer for all of the hard work, time and passion that you’ve no doubt put into this video game. I’m enjoying it immensely and I’m very excited to see that when I came to leave a review just now. That there is a huge new update that recently released. Freezes and then error code and can’t do anything.

UPDATE:
Shouldn’t have blamed the game, was probably something else but the constant deletes and redownloads eventually worked or it worked after I updated from iOS 17 to 17.1. I really appreciate the dev reaching out to help. Won’t hesitate to buy more from this dev. 

Game is also really fun now that I can play haha
