### 4/5 — Some suggestions

*2026-05-12*

Great app. My suggestions:
- don’t show the paywall directly, even with the free trial many will not try
- it didn’t activate water mode in Watch Ultra when I select plunge (for reference, was untimed)
- if can sense water, after 5 seconds out of water suggest pause
- let use chose 3, 5 or 10 seconds countdown
- let use put goal (like 10 min) and mark time counting up and allow passing the allotted time
- when user defines temperature, it is not showing during the plunge

Great app, anyway. Some improvements only.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback, we will consider these for future updates.

### 4/5 — Decent but not Perfect-Updated

*2026-04-29, version 2.0.4*

What works well: The app loads and connects with Apple Watch fine. It records the session and uploads to Strava. It logs your sessions.
What doesn’t work well or at all:
It doesn’t seem to know my location even though it has location permission. It logs the session at the correct time but uploads it to Strava with a time 10 hours later. There is no online support, just a static website.
Update to my initial review (one month later): the developer has responded to every issue I had and the app is functioning much more consistently now.

### 4/5 — C you have to go via the watch

*2025-06-13*

an update to below I’ve finally found centigrade but it was only available via the watch and now suddenly it’s available in the app as well

so I can’t even use it I’m not converting from Celsius centigrade to Fahrenheit every time I use it so it was useless

**Developer response:** Hi, please contact our support so we can understand the issue you are facing and get it working for you. You can change to Celsius in the Watch App, which will also be reflected on the iOS app. If you are having difficulties with this, we are here to help, please reach out.

### 3/5 — Great

*2025-01-16, version 1.0.14*

The team at Ultra Plunge has been very accessible and enjoyable to work with over the time I’ve had the app.
They have added key features that for me take treatment to next level.
After 2 months of use i now can track where the benefits really are and adjust my training accordingly
This app also motivates me to keep my treatments and tools current in my training!
Good job team!

### 3/5 — Great but

*2024-12-06*

There is so much more this app could do. Easily add hyperbaric chamber in as another item to track.
Seems like there could be way for data based on the accumulated sessions you do and the medical benefits. I.e long term sauna sessions over several months

To me this is merely a timer, with a colored graph that shows you what you already know… how long you plunged or sauna or swam for and several of your colors are closely aligned sauna and float tank are merely same color

I’d like to see a bit more effort in data, benefit, accumulated benefit, more treatments.

Also it doesn’t relay the information to the health app accurately. Huge negative.

An app should talk to all other fitness apps and relay data accurately.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We have added hyperbaric chamber to the latest update, and have verified that the app does relay the info to the health and fitness app accurately. We are working on many more features as well.

### 3/5 — Promising App with Frustrating Usability Issues

*2024-11-29*

The Ultra Plunge app has great potential, but it still falls short in a few key areas. While the interface is sleek and the features are helpful for managing cold plunge sessions, the user experience is hampered by some persistent issues.

One of the most frustrating problems is the repeated write/read permissions prompt. Every time I open the app on my watch, I’m forced to allow permissions again, which disrupts the experience and feels unnecessary.

Additionally, I wish the app would save sessions automatically. There have been several occasions when I accidentally didn’t save a session, and there’s no way to recover that data. Automatic saving would be a simple but impactful improvement.

Overall, the app shows promise, but these usability issues hold it back. Once these problems are resolved, I’d be happy to revisit my rating. For now, 3 stars.

### 3/5 — Not impressed

*2024-11-21*

It has all the features to be amazing but is not quite there.
For some reason it doesn’t save a plunge automatically after ending it. When you get out of cold water you are usually trying to get dry and warm , not mess with your watch.
Today I also discovered that if you’re not connected to the internet (e.g: out in the woods with no data) the app won’t load “the products” meaning you can’t start any of the activities…. For the price you’d think this was better developed, so yea kinda disappointed and hoping these issues can be solved so I can fully appreciate the features and improve my rating of the app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-10-14*

This app makes tracking my cold plunges effortless. I love seeing the water temperature and guided breathing right on my watch and being notified when my time is up

### 5/5 — Ridiculously well designed

*2024-10-02*

Love using this app to track my cold plunges. My session starts as soon as I dunk my wrist in the water and shows me instantly how cold it is. Even has guided breathing on the watch app.

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2024-09-29*

Since starting my polar plunge journey I’ve been looking for an app that will track water temperature, time, and heart rate on my watch and this app does it all and a lot more. Also works great in my sauna. Highly recommended

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No trial

*2025-10-24*

Can’t even open the app without paying

**Developer response:** You do not have to sign up for a paid subscription to try the app, there is a free 7 day trial

### 1/5 — Forced subscription

*2025-08-21, version 1.0.19*

You can’t even see the app without submitting to the subscription. Terrible.

### 1/5 — Will no longer SYNC to Watch

*2025-04-06, version 1.0.17*

Loved it at first. Now it won’t measure heart rate anymore or sync to watch. My other apps are still synced. Disappointed that it stop working so quickly.

### 1/5 — Heavy subscribe price!

*2024-10-30*

Some what nice app, like it use the watch temperature sensor. I’m never going to pay that much in subscription to log water temperature.

**Developer response:** Sorry you do not like the price, but it is not fair to leave a 1 star review for that reason. We appreciate your feedback but if the price is not to your liking you do not have to buy it. Users get a free trial to evaluate it before deciding whether to subscribe. Please consider retracting this review, as it does not provide useful feedback on the actual app. Thanks

### 1/5 — Not Good

*2024-10-25*

First time use. Not good at all. Wrong temp, no minutes displayed, lots of incomplete data, did not link with Health app. Zero help from text customer service

### 2/5 — Works good for a few days

*2026-05-11, version 2.0.4*

Works good for the first few days - then very inconsistent. I have ultra 3 for reference. It seems like every other day the app believes I’m getting into a 44° sauna and then the other half the time the app just continually loads for a minute at a time. Not auto ending the cold plunge session when you leave the plunge also is very frustrating. It seems like it’s better just to use the free dive app that comes with the watch.

### 2/5 — App crashes

*2026-01-17, version 1.0.24*

Great app and design , but it crashes often

### 3/5 — Decent but not Perfect

*2026-04-01*

What works well: The app loads and connects with Apple Watch fine. It records the session and uploads to Strava. It logs your sessions.
What doesn’t work well or at all:
It doesn’t seem to know my location even though it has location permission. It logs the session at the correct time but uploads it to Strava with a time 10 hours later. There is no online support, just a static website.

### 3/5 — So-so

*2025-11-27, version 1.0.22*

Has a lot of potential, but finicky and inconsistent. After using it for over a year, things I’ve observed: Sometimes the timer goes away mid-cold plunge or sauna, sometimes it remains visible. Sometimes the timer continues to run after the allocated time runs out, other times it stops on its own. Sometimes the timer vibrates to notify me, sometimes it doesn’t. There are no settings to fix these issues nor rhyme or reason. Very frustrating.

### 3/5 — So close!

*2025-01-17, version 1.0.14*

Love the basis of the app. However, it is not recording my heart rate while in the sauna or cold plunge. Using the ultra 2 watch. All permissions have been given. But still not working. Would give five stars if I got that going!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best cold plunge app

*2026-03-26, version 2.0.2*

After cold plunging for over 5 years and trying every app out there I find this is best. All the information is simple and straightforward while in the water. Also, I found the water temp is very accurate. The AI is very interesting. As someone who started 5 years ago this is a savior. No more having to log in to my calendar app after taking pictures of my info outside. I highly recommend this app. Everyone that I have recommended it to feels the same way.

### 5/5 — Great app, great support

*2026-03-04, version 2.0.0*

When I first started using the app it was ok, it worked and did what I needed. But I had some issues. I reached out to support and to my surprise, all of my issues were already on track to be resolved in the next release and lo and behold they were! The latest release is exactly what I envisioned the Apple Watch app should be like. It works flawlessly and their support was kind enough to not only let me know the release was coming but also to let me know when it was available.

I get a response same day and many of my suggestions have been added in updates
