It has replaced the printed dictionary I always brought to Italy. The ability to conjugate verbs and get multiple definitions is very helpful. I keep the app open while reading Italian lessons. Love it for the last 5 years! Let's add a few years now. August 2015 ### 3/5 — Could be better *2014-02-11* It is a good dictionary that could be a lot better. It is for advanced users very comprehensive in its meanings and examples. But this strength is also it's weakness because of its poor layout in that it only uses one column and so you can pick a word and get numerous meaning and examples that go on for pages. It should use the normal layout for a dictionary and use two columns. The left column for the header word and the right column for meanings and examples allowing you to quickly move onto an adjacent word. It is not for beginners, there is no sound and the layout needs to improve as above, and yet it has a great feature for beginners in that it takes verb conjugations and tells you which verb it comes from. Eg type in parlo and be told it comes from parlare, this feature needs to go one step further and say which particular conjugation it comes from. A minor improvement, when the text size is increased please also increase the search text size. ### 3/5 — Disappointing *2013-07-07* I'm currently in my 3rd year of undergraduate Italian & downloaded this app before a weeklong trip to Venice. Since I have some background, I wasn't looking up super-basic words, but rather terms used on menus and museum displays. Almost nothing I looked up was listed in the dictionary. It was pretty good in verb conjugations, but incomplete in many respects: no English translation for essere (to be) in any of the subjunctive tenses?! Really? No indications that the are differences between "tu" ("you" informal) and "Lei" ("you" formal)? That can get you into serious trouble! ### 5/5 — Efficient and Simple *2013-05-31, version 2.3* Efficient and simple to use. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2013-05-07, version 1.5.4* I currently live in Italy and have found that most of the words I have looked up are not accurate. My native Italian speaking friends have all checked it out to try and help me and declared after a few minutes of various searches, that it is rubbish. ### 2/5 — Pretty bad for many basic words *2013-03-24* I have enjoyed the French version of this app, but on a trip to Italy I found that the Ultralingua Italian dictionary is rather poor. Mostly one-word definitions without any help in knowing any subtleties of meaning. And several times, when I asked out Italian friends, they said that the first dictionary entry was either very old-fashioned or just plain wrong.
