I wasted my money. *2025-04-03* Disappointing expenditure for an interpreter. Doesn’t include phrases. Ultralingua Bilingual free version does have some phrase usage, and Ultralingua Collins Spn-En is better, and is purchasable. I’ve always found it very useful. I had a way of hearing the word pronounced in Spanish—until now. When I tap “speak” now, the app completely crashes. I tried the one for French-which I also have-& same result-the app crashed. I would have given it a 5-star rating before today. I got this app after using several other apps. These were all useful in various ways, but this app is in a completely different league in terms of the range of ways it helps me. The definitions for each word give the full range of meanings of the word as well as several examples in Spanish of the use of the word. Also important for me is being able to conveniently hear the proper pronunciation of each word and phrase. The complete treatment of the conjugation of verbs is a great help in mastering both the grammar and irregular verbs. This app is relatively expensive as apps go, but I have found it to be worth every penny. It's been very helpful to me in learning Spanish. At times, the translations given are words or phrases not understood well by native speakers (Latin American immigrants in Southern California). I don't know if it's Spain Spanish or just very academic, though you should expect academic language from a good dictionary. Just an FYI. I had the Spanish-English and French-English dictionaries installed on my iPhone and iPads for a few years and used them often. And as you said, it stopped working after a recent update. So I deleted it (they were both in the same app) and went back in to reinstall both. It didn't say anything about getting them free because I had previously bought both, nor did it ask the confirmation question “Do you mean to buy this dictionary?” So since it didn't ask the confirmation to buy question, I figured it was reinstalling free. Nope. Just got the receipt for both. Pensé que se solucionaría el problema con la actualización, pero todo sigue igual. The verb conjugations are great ways to remember some tricky irregular forms. The favorites gesture dodo lets you make a list of words you might see sometimes but can’t quite retain.
