### 3/5 — 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

*2021-10-07*

This is the best analyzer on the App Store but please Update it

### 4/5 — Great app

*2020-04-19*

Love this app for analyzing bird calls. Can’t seem to play through Air Pods though.

### 2/5 — May be good, but where is support if anything goes wrong?

*2019-10-12*

It is laudable to write good software. But this type of software needs some support. Not all clients are PhD in audiology and there are countless options where even normal engineers go wrong. It’s a new language. A short phone call would clarify most likely. The supplier doesn’t exist. If so, where? Not even a support group where colleagues could interact. For me, this software is a useless waste of good money. Sorry. I gladly take it all back if I find support. But not for now!

### 5/5 — Jason Garrett - Reliability Leader for Honda of America

*2017-12-02*

This tool is great! I’ve only tested it in my lab so far. Very excited to try it on the manufacturing floor to test for compressed air leaks.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2016-01-21*

Great look, works exceptionally well and in my opinion- good value.
Love it.

### 4/5 — At Least it's blind accessible

*2015-08-16*

This app is as blind accessible as an app like this can be. I'm so glad about that, but I only give you four stars because you didn't say that this won't work with the iPhone all by itself for frequencies above 192K: Shame on you for that, but for everything else it's a job well-done.

### 5/5 — Very Cool!

*2015-06-03*

I use FFT programs to find peak RPM of JetSki engines during racing. This one is a generation ahead of the ones I used last year. Very Cool! Much better data.

### 5/5 — Tom Hoenig

*2014-07-31*

This app is very well written and very stable. It,s main design was for recognizing animal sounds, but we have found many other uses. It is very effective finding air or gas leaks in pipes as well as trending bearings for proper lubrication intervals. The ability of recording and storing this data makes for very easy post processing of collected data.
I would highly recommend this to anyone needing audio analysis for multiple purposes.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — $20 for *this*?

*2025-01-02*

This app is pretty amateurish, not even supporting Bluetooth headphones on iPhone. It's 2025. When was the last time you saw an app that could only output over wired headphones? I didn't realize that was even a possibility. It's like the developer stopped trying back around 2018, and never updated it further.

The app's readouts also mix dB (SPL) and dBFS freely, even though there is no way to get SPL without first calibrating the system. What's up with that?

The whole thing just feels very "beta version written by a student in their dorm room." This is the single most expensive single-purchase app I have ever encountered. I probably wouldn't bother to keep it even if it were free.

**Developer response:** The latest version now includes support for Bluetooth headphones. I hope this enhances your experience with the app.

### 1/5 — No headphone monitoring support

*2023-11-07*

I was keen to use this app with my Ultramic 384 USB mic and AirPods Pro for real-time repitched monitoring of bat calls, as described in the docs. However, the headphone monitoring crashes after less than a minute, and requires a reboot to resolve. The app author stated that Bluetooth headphones are not supported, blaming the issue on Apple having retired support for wired headphones. However, this was 7 years ago, which should give ample time to update the app. This means that real-time monitoring of USB mics is effectively not supported on present-day iOS devices.

**Developer response:** The latest version now includes support for Bluetooth headphones. I hope this enhances your experience with the app.

### 1/5 — No ultrasound

*2022-03-26*

Great app, one problem, Apple audio doesn’t go above 22kc. Have a solution let me know.

**Developer response:** For real-time ultrasonic analysis, use an external microphone with ultrasonic capabilities through a USB camera adapter or through the iPhone/iPad dock connector.

### 1/5 — Cannot export audio files

*2019-12-11*

Cannot export audio files
Cannot save audio files
Play button does not work
No presets for quick investigating.

**Developer response:** Please use the share button, then choose “Audio file”, and then tap the “+” button to create a new file.

### 1/5 — Not stable

*2019-06-08*

Unfortunately Ultrasonic permanently fails to Play a recorded or Imported Audio file and is always closed in my iPad and iPhone...

### 1/5 — Buggy, Unreliable, Poor Interface

*2019-04-24*

We were told to install this device for work. It is a very average app for a premium price. It crashes all the time and does not recover the previous audio file. The tool itself is fine, but that doesn't matter when the risk of data loss is so high. Interface is mediocre. I’d recommend the developers go back to the drawing board on this one.

### 1/5 — Does not detect any ultra sound!!

*2018-02-05*

This won't work with the iPhone all by itself for frequencies above even 48kHz, let alone 192kHz as one of the other reviews says. Now I can't even return it.

**Developer response:** For real-time ultrasonic analysis use an external microphone with ultrasonic capabilities through a USB camera adapter or through the iPhone/iPad dock connector.

### 1/5 — No audiobus

*2014-09-27*

No audiobus = worthless

### 1/5 — Fail

*2014-05-07*

It simply does not work. Once you open the settings panel and try to close it, the app just dims and the setting panel fails to close. You have to quit the app in the multitasker to get back to the main screen. It's refund time!

### 2/5 — No Instructions

*2023-03-20*

Trying to capture my neighbor blasting us with ultrasonic sound but there are no instructions with this app on how to utilize this.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Bat-Detection

*2025-04-25*

Good App in combination with audio moth ultrasonic microphone. Makes the bat calls perfectly visible and gives the possibility to save the records for later analysis.

### 5/5 — OUTSTANDING!! Laboratory quality spectrum analysis!

*2025-02-02*

I am an Electronics and Optical Technologist and have used professional laboratory instrumentation for over 30 years and
this app brings true realtime audio spectral analysis with an optional embedded realtime spectral display in a picture-in-picture window on the main display. The quality and accuracy comes from very high-speed signal recording and analysis, and includes an ultrasonic audio transposing mode to make this app function like a professional instrument ( nevermind the convenience and portability of being able to carry a spectrum analyser in your shirt pocket or on your ipad! ) THANKYOU for the Bluetooth update!! (i’m using my new TinySA Ultra to scan RF today!!)

Outstanding app! KUDOS to Pawel!!

### 5/5 — Counter surveillance uses

*2024-09-05*

Anybody who’s the victim of any kind of surveillance abuse or voyeuristic abuse in general, can use this app to pick up on a nearly imperceptible frequency around 14,000 kHz. The untrained ear you wouldn’t be able to hear this frequency but it is the result of using wave generated surveillance systems such as the CTX 4000 or the national security agencies tempest program that uses subtle amounts of non-ionizing radiation directed at the building that the target is in to pick up on all the electronic and more importantly biometric information similar to what you get from the xavor1000 system.
Simply run the recording through a program like audacity or adobe audition and increase the decibel rate what’s you hone in on it with the apps spectrum analyzer.

### 5/5 — App idea

*2023-10-19*

Great app. It would be really cool if it were updated to give us visuals of infrasound like some other apps can in the App Store. The technology is available now so it shouldn’t be hard for the developer to update the app for that. There’s another app that can detect and give you visuals for all the way down to 1hz.

### 5/5 — Works well, great UI, helped me eliminate a cause of a problem

*2021-07-27*

How can the microphone on an iphone sample at such absurdly high rates? I don't know, but it seems to work, and this app has helped me eliminate ultrasound pollution as a cause of headaches that my wife's Macbook air m1 is causing us. The UI is FANTASTIC. The author clearly knows a thing or two about UI design!

### 5/5 — OUTSTANDING!! Laboratory quality spectrum analysis!

*2020-11-14*

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2020-09-03*

I’m using an iPad Pro with a USB to lightning adapter to interface with a Dodotronic Ultramic 384BLE. I saved for a long time to purchase the Ultramic so I could listen to the bats that fly around my house. I love this setup!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2020-04-28*

This is absolutely amazing. A professional grade tool that does the job better than some desktop solutions (using with Dodotronic USB Ultramic) My only wish: being able to use bluetooth headsets for playthrough while recording.

### 5/5 — Top quality app for all ultrasound analysis purposes

*2018-06-08*

Highly recommended

### 5/5 — Works well with appropriate Mic

*2018-05-22*

I use the program on my IPad with the dodotronic ultrasonic mic and adapter, and it works great 😀
