### 4/5 — Needs to connect too Apple Music

*2020-10-28*

Great app. Needs to connect to Apple Music. Also needs to fix the orientation from upright to side

### 4/5 — Great app for workouts but developer appears to have stopped updating it

*2019-09-17, version 7.5*

I love this app. It's one of my top apps I use for my training and workouts. But it would seem the app is no longer receiving updates. It has some bugs in it now that I would love to see fixed but isn't getting done. Because of that, I can only give 4 star rating even though this is a 5 star app

### 3/5 — Crashes When You Record Yr Own Noises

*2018-02-04, version 7.4*

When I try to add new drills (eg “slip drill,” “footwork ladder,” and so forth) using the record function the app closes. This is terribly frustrating. Tried to email the app devs but emails bounced back. Please fix!

### 3/5 — Most recent update has some Voiceover issues

*2017-11-05, version 7.4*

Used to have great Voiceover support. Now however, there some unlabeled buttons in the timers. Please fix. Would be happy to give a 5 star rating otherwise.
IPhone SE iOS 11.1.

### 4/5 — Well done.

*2016-09-25, version 7.3.1*

Please add Apple Watch functionality. It would be very useful to have my watch vibrate/tap when it is time to change intervals.

### 4/5 — Issue

*2016-02-02*

There is an issue with the "action setup - minimum/maximum duration"
When changing the duration, it goes to 0 and cannot be changed back, this means that when actions are being called out, they then regularly overlay each other, this is especially annoying when you have custom recorded actions that are longer than a few words, i.e - a recorded combo,

I really want to give this app 5*,
Please fix this issue and i will give 5*

Other than that issue, absolute fantastic app, really well designed, very happy with this app, i don't think anything needs changing in the way the app is laid out,

Perfect for training on my own, can basically coach myself with the ability to record custom actions,

Thank you for giving us this app :)

### 2/5 — Unfortunately it is buggy and doesn't work described.

*2015-12-20*

The main reason I bought this app was for the promise of completely randomized intervals. Eg if I set an interval of say 1min high intensity with a rest of 30sec, then I want the app to randomize the workout intensity from anywhere from 10sec to 1min and similarly with the rest interval like 10sec rest up to 30sec. So that doesn't work.

Other issues are that if you open the app in landscape on the iPad, the app opens in portrait and you can't edit the workouts. You have to exit and reopen in portrait.

I won't write any more other than to say, it's buggy and in need of fixes. The developer should make every effort to address these since people pay for service and expect that service to work.

### 2/5 — Good idea but buggy

*2015-10-20, version 7.1*

Good idea but buggy. For example whenever I change the minimum or maximum duration of a workout (duration of "actions" under an "interval") the duration gets set to zero regardless of what I choose.

### 2/5 — Used to work. Good design. Now it ends badly

*2015-10-02, version 7.1*

Even the shipped sample routines don't end well on an iPhone. Using 7.1 version of the app. With the latest iOS. No final buzzer or alarm...just quietly ends, leaving
Me doing push-ups or whatever forever!

### 2/5 — Crashes immediately

*2015-02-27*

Contrary to what they say the latest update DOES NOT fix the problem mentioned in the reviews..

I upgraded the app on my old phone which I use as a gym timer and now not only can I not use it but I cannot access my stored routines. Will I ever get them back?

### 1/5 — No longer works with iOS 6

*2015-01-03, version 7.0*

This is a great app when it works. No longer works with iOS 6. Please fix to bring that rating back up.

### 2/5 — Problems with update

*2014-10-27, version 5.5.2*

Since most recent IOS update you can 't add new timers or pictures or change old timers that were in place prior to update. Sent email to support but no response. It's a bummer cause I use to use this app every day.

### 2/5 — Crashes

*2013-12-12, version 5.5.2*

I got this app to use for my cycling intervals on my indoor trainer. I'm giving it two stars because when it works it's nice and helpful, BUT........this app crashes a lot. I purchased the app because the new version said they fixed the crash. Hmmm, not really. So don't purchase until you see four to five stars. Hopefully another update will come out and it will be fixed. Oh well, my 2.99$ just bought a sitting app on my iPad.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2017-12-30, version 7.4*

Can’t get app to work. Crashes every time I try to record in action audio files. Haven’t gotten farther than that as that is something I need this to do for the results I want. Tried to email customer support and no response.

### 1/5 — Yep they screwed the pooch on the last update.

*2016-03-10, version 7.2*

Used to be a four star app. Only thing keeping it from being a five was the set up was a bit tedious. I set up twenty new actions and went to set the event time and the minute and second part go to zero regardless of what you set it to. Only the quarter second actually registers. With out this feature it is useless. Even on the preloaded program if you touch the intervals they set to zero. Can't adjust them so they are useless. Even imd tech support but nothing.

### 1/5 — Used to work... Not anymore!

*2016-02-29, version 7.2*

App is fantastic when it used to work. Now there is a bug that prevents you from setting up time for actions. As a result, it is now completely unusable. Too bad because it still has the best features for setting up randomized time during workouts.

### 1/5 — Bug

*2015-09-22*

Although there is places to write titles and descriptions of exercises, every time you try to write in them, the box goes blank and the screen pauses, you are unable to write in the box! Soo annoying as this is the ONLY reason I purchased this app. And it doesn't work!

### 1/5 — Crash-O-Matic

*2015-06-30, version 7.0*

When it works, this is a workable interval timer app; however it is poorly implemented and takes a LOOOONG time to program a new workout.

It crashes a lot. Also is glitchy with sound levels.

### 1/5 — I used it everyday now it's destroyed

*2015-05-02, version 7.0*

I had 4 different routines programmed into it. My only complaint was that I was not able to upload a picture like I did on previous versions .The timer worked perfectly . Now it crashes and has multiple glitches . I also had Ultimate Timer, it's messed up too. The latest positive review in March 2015 is a fake. Their apps are not working anymore.

### 1/5 — Update broke this

*2015-02-13, version 7.0*

This was a great app until the most recent update. It will no longer work on my iPod 4 (which I use for all my training apps) even though it claims to work on IOS 6. It looks like it is going to open and then it crashes.I hope they fix it, but until they do the app is useless. Can I have my money back? If they are not going to fix it, why don't they offer an older version to IOS 6 users?

### 1/5 — Updated version did NOT fix

*2015-02-09, version 7.0*

App continues to crash. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Which is especially frustrating because I trained clients using this app. Now I reccomed a different app for the to buy because this one is not reliable. Save your money, purchase a different app.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work with iPhone 6 or iPad Air

*2015-01-26, version 7.0*

I loved this app! Used it for all my training & teaching classes but now it won't work on my new devices. Please fix it!

### 1/5 — Another frustrated user

*2015-01-10, version 7.0*

Latest update is broken on my iPod Model MC544LL/A running iOS Version 6.1.6. I use this app everyday an I hope you fix it soon.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best out there

*2023-05-28, version 7.5*

15 years later, it is still the best interval trainer out there. Timer groups, Timers, intervals, and activities within them means this is the most versatile app of its kind. It needs Apple Watch support and text to speech (although the record voice works as a a great alternative). But this app should not have been abandoned. It’s the gold standard.

### 5/5 — Best timer on the market

*2020-04-02, version 7.5*

100% customizable, including with user recorded sounds. Has a random interval setting. Allows timer groups, timers, then sets, then actions with in sets, all of which can be customized. Nothing on the market is as flexible. Great for mma, boxing, grappling drills, or any type of interval trainer.

Just needs an Apple Watch app.

### 5/5 — Exceptionally useful

*2019-09-22, version 7.5*

I am a professional martial artist and have used Ultra Trainer for years. Yeah, there’s a bug or two but there is no other random interval timer in existence that I know of, and it’s invaluable for solo training with a heavy bag. You record whatever combos you want and then while you work the bag UT makes you do them at random times. This is a game changer for building reaction time and adaptability. Without the app, you do a combo when you’re ready on your time, but with it you are forced to react just like you would to changing circumstances in a fight. I wish there was a dedicated hardware unit that would do the same thing but as is, Ultra Trainer does it’s job admirably. If you are concerned with it’s integration with your music library, you aren’t training hard enough! Thanks devs. Superior product that fills a real need.

### 5/5 — Very Good

*2014-01-29*

No real faults although I only use the boxing rounds.

These can be varied in length to suit the individual.

I do 12x3 minute rounds with 45 second breaks in between and by the end I'm soaked in sweat.

Only suggestions would be round numbers at start of each round and also maybe the ability to specify attack rounds to up the intensity...

If you have access to a punch bag this is an excellent purchase.

### 5/5 — Best Interval Timer - I bought them all

*2014-01-05, version 5.5.2*

This is the best one on the market. We've used this for basic interval timing and complex multiphase fitness programs. Nothing comes close this app. They make it simple to setup complex sequences. We also like the easy way to share timers with other coaches - just select the timers you want to share, then email them for easy import. The only thing I'd like is to see an integrated heart beat monitor feature like one of the other products has. But as a flexible, well crafted interval timer, this one is the one we always use.

### 5/5 — Getting Better!

*2013-02-07, version 5.5.2*

I've had this app for some time now and I can honestly say they are making efforts to improve and make this app more user friendly and versatile. I am impressed!

### 5/5 — Much better than I expected

*2012-07-21, version 5.5.2*

I haven't tried any of the other timers out there but I was VERY impressed with this one's functionality. Entering in the exercises is a bit of a pain, but once they're in there customizing routines is easy. At $3 I felt I got a lot more than I paid for.

Update: being able to share programs across devices via wireless connection...very cool guys, thanks. Still using this app after well-over a year. I have about 30 different fitness programs.

### 5/5 — Awesome for crossfit

*2012-02-27, version 5.3*

Especially love the timer exchange which has every potential canned sequence I could ever want.

### 5/5 — does exactly what I need it to do

*2011-08-07*

it's not pretty, and it takes a bit of figuring out, but it's flexible and powerful and once you have a routine set up, it works great.

### 5/5 — Huge update from "rounds" timer, incredible value, one minor glitch.

*2011-08-02, version 5.3*

So I bought rounds and used it for a year. I believe it was made by the same company. it had it's problems like, you couldn't pause just the music and it took me a really long time to program excersize routines because you couldn't mix "timer groups" like you can here. Even so it was a great value at $4 instead of an expensive physical timer for a hundred dollars or so.
This app, Ultra Trainer, works way better! all other problems I had are pretty much gone. its wonderful to be able to save my own voice recordings for alarms. That way when in my work out it's time to move on to say, pushups, I hear my voice say to myself "pushups" or "you have five seconds left" or whatever I want. This is great because I listen to the evening news podcast from the previous night while I work out outside in the morning at the park.

  The glitch:
so there is this cool funtion where you can add actions inside of an interval that can be "random" or run in the order of "as listed."

this way I can program it to say "run hard" for a random amount of time and "run easy" for a random amount of time, and so on. what great is that it's within an interval!
The glitch is that the "as listed" option in these actions doesnt work properly. For whatever reason it mixes up the order. It does so consistantly, but it doesn't do it from the top action down to the bottom action, at least not when the interval is, lets say, the the third interval.

Minor glitch, but it took me 20minutes to figure out why my stretches were all mixed up.

Anyway, great app, and I'm looking forward to downloading and sharing some timer programs with others on the "timer exchange" community that you can access and upload/download to inside the app.

Pretty great for $4!
