The methods were working very well and I did feel like I was improving. Unfortunately, only the first chapter is free. After the first four lessons, you have to pay a subscription service to use. ### 2/5 — Can’t move forward without paying *2026-07-29, version 3.14.6* I am on the first lesson of unit two and I’m stuck behind a paywall and can’t advance at all. I thought I could at least learn a little bit free every day? But there seems to be no way or no instruction regarding how to advance except paying. I come back every day and click around trying to figure out how to learn. How do I get past this?? The word selection & ordering is questionable. The word “to investigate” is taught before “big”. I believe the point of the app is to help you learn in context, but wouldn’t it make sense to learn words I’d hear/use most often first? Also the practice sections get repetitive after a while (over a year in). The courses move fast, it doesn’t seem realistic to learn four new words everyday until you’re fluent while practicing older words. Has anyone actually completed the Japanese course without prior Japanese knowledge? ### 3/5 — DUDE WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH *2026-07-06, version 3.14.4* That app is good it's just locked behind a pay wall. I'm sorry but it is unimaginably annoying how I either pay 149.99 for a lifetime or I pay 50 bucks a year. That is so stupid especially because I want to learn Japanese but every single app is locked behind some sort of pay wall like literally. I did the first five lessons and they boom you need premium for all the rest like this is so stupid only get this app if you want to pay for more than five lessons ### 3/5 — Bad translation *2026-07-02, version 3.14.4* I signed in with Apple and in my account it said ‘Inscribido con Apple’. That is not correct Spanish and made me question the quality of the localization. I deleted the app right away. ### 5/5 — Amazing *2026-07-01, version 3.14.4* Honestly I used many MANY other apps to learn Japanese’s but this one is amazing if you memorize well the grammar and can pronounce well! I recommend this to a beginner level honestly!!! ### 3/5 — A bit sloppy *2026-06-18, version 3.14.4* The idea is great but the clips are too short, I’m assuming they get away with copyright like this, and there are English clips instead of French. It feels like it was made in a rush, not well thought through or quality controlled ### 3/5 — Good for Japanese, Ok for Korean *2026-06-14, version 3.14.4* I think the app worked well for learning Japanese. It has been frustrating for learning Korean though. You start a lesson by learning a word and then there are examples of the word during the lesson but they are often conjugated or modified versions of the word, none of which were explained. So not only are you trying to memorize the word, you have to deal with surprise conjugations that were never explained. Either use the exact word in the examples or explain the conjugations before showing them. This happens constantly when trying to learn Korean on the app and I have ended my subscription to go to an app which actually explains such concepts. This was not really an issue I encountered when learning Japanese through the app though. ### 2/5 — Needs Work *2026-06-04, version 3.14.4* Reaching the end of the 3 day trial - in two minds whether I try and continue. Cost in UK is around £44 per year, which is pretty standard - but the app is nowhere near as well put together as other apps looking for a similar amount. Words and relevant translations appear in the wrong order and so are incorrect, many of the clips are different to the sentence being shown and on the test section, many of the ‘what do you hear’ tests simply don’t work. This app from first glance seems to be pretty good, but I immediately saw the insane amount of AI art. Its free!' So for starters this app even though its free to download it is basically NOT FREE there are barely any sessions available to people who use the free subscription offer and i think you should change it even just a little to make it like so free subscription users can do all or half the sessions but have ads and the premium users have no ads. Sorry but this app is not good. It’s so fun an interactive being able to hear the language spoken natively in different clips from tv shows along with being encouraged to pronounce the sentences and see the breakdown of what each word means. I wish it focused more on learning more sentences rather than focusing on certain words as much but it’s still a great tool for revision and to be used alongside other learning materials.
