You know, as you do IRL, which they would have us believe they are mimicking. Instead, 90% of the time I’ll finish reading and the next time I come back, I have to start all over again. Select Archive (again), select the issue (again) and then scroll back to where I stopped reading previously. It’s one of the few things for which the digital process is actually >much< slower than the analog. Appreciate the magazine itself. Wish it wasn’t harder to enjoy in 2026 than it was in 2016 (or 2006, or 1996…) ### 2/5 — Great magazine. Mediocre app *2021-05-01, version 6.4.0* It used to be easy to access past purchases and but new issues. Now, however, it won’t allow for new purchases. Irritating and frustrating. ### 3/5 — Buggy *2021-01-16, version 6.4.0* Shuts down, freezes randomly. Very touchy, creates bookmarks as you navigate the page. Needs a lot of work. ### 3/5 — New App *2020-05-05, version 6.0.6* You will see from below the dangers of updating this App. However, Pocketmags have helped me to get all my past purchases back. I cannot praise this team enough. Difficult situation because of App Store policy, but they made it work. Thanks guys. I would rate 5* for the service, but clearly 1* for the problem. Therefore I am amending my review to 3*. Do not under any circumstance update. Spent hundreds of pounds over years (at least) and all under threat. Cannot find word to express anger and disgust (I can, but can’t print it). I echo what everyone else has said. Even if you don’t care about ripping off customers. At least realise that this is the end if not resolved. Nobody is foolish enough to fall for this twice. ### 2/5 — App crashes the App Store until reboot *2019-11-21, version 6.0.6* After installing I was unable to update any apps on my IPad and the App Store says this app isn’t installed. The only way to resolve is to reboot my IPad. The App Store will then work again until the app is opened. With this App I cannot read previous editions. App does not restore. Have followed advice received from help desk and still not restoring. I have just tried again and the editions will still not restore..... ### 1/5 — Update of update *2019-11-16, version 6.0.6* New November 2019 update wipes out your issues and problems remain after deleting and reinstalling the App. Don’t bother contacting help email. I have not received any replies after numerous emails. ### 1/5 — New Update Wiped Out My iTunes Subscription Copies *2019-11-14, version 6.0.6* The November 2019 update completely wiped out my subscription with iTunes. None of those issues are available anymore. I’ve tried restoring 20 times to no avail. It only restores the Special issues that I previously purchased through the app. A complete disaster of an update. So mad!!! ### 1/5 — Lost all purchases after update *2019-11-14, version 6.0.6* After the latest update, I can no longer access my previously purchased iTunes subscription issues. I have gone through the Restore Purchases process multiple times with no errors reported and deleted and reinstalled the app, but still have no access to any issues. ### 2/5 — Back Issues *2019-11-13, version 6.0.6* With the new update I’ve lost all my back issues and there’s no help or support. ### 1/5 — New app won’t allow access to subscription issues *2019-11-13, version 6.0.6* Old app worked great. New app not so much. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Love Uncut but this app is useless *2022-02-10, version 7.0.14* I’ve subscribed to Uncut magazine for over 2 decades now. It has pretty much defined my taste in music and helped me to discover so many artists. The previous app allowed me to read through back issues of Uncut, that I had bought physical copies of, on my iOS devices. All this new app does is send you to a sign in page for Pocketmags. Opening a Pocketmags account does nothing but get you put on a spam mailing list. My library of Uncut back issues has now vanished, and there appears to be no way of re-adding them. I don’t know why they couldn’t just keep the old app going, this new one is useless. ### 1/5 — Still a shame. *2021-05-23* Wonderful magazine. But the app hasn't improved at all. Today it demands to be read with my ipad turned upside down, can’t reach the store (for the tempting new Prince-themed issue) and need I tell you still doesn’t restore my old buys. That’s a shame! ### 1/5 — Image quality too poor to read on iPhone 11 Pro Max *2020-04-23, version 6.0.6* At time of writing, I have the biggest, highest-res iPhone screen there is, and when I make the text big enough to read, it’s so soft and blurry it gives me a headache. Went right back to Apple News+ to check I wasn’t going blind, and even the content where you blow up print layouts is crystal clear. The mag’s content is good, but this app fails in its only task, I’m afraid. (Tested with June 2020 issue with Prince on the cover.) ### 1/5 — Shockingly Bad *2019-12-30, version 6.0.6* I can’t access the issues I’ve paid for as the app asks me to sign into my Apple account but provides no way of doing so. Needless to say that my emails to Pocketmags have gone unanswered so I’ve cancelled my subscription. ### 1/5 — In need of help *2019-12-30, version 6.0.6* Has anyone yet had any joy in downloading this new app without totally losing all their old copies? There used to be many options for this type of journalism. Uncut is one of the few left. This along with Mojo are the only ones to get it fight anymore. 100% music coverage, great record reviews, great artist profiles, great pictures both new and archived. Subscribe to this thing. My only beef….why not include a digital download of the months music sampler? You'll stay in touch with the latest musical trends plus great articles from historic moments in music. Also there is, in every issue, like 15+ pages of reviews. Including new and reissue albums. There is also space for the latest great movies and books. If you are musically open minded this is your music mag. There are other mags that care more about image (posers). Not this one! Classic and classy.
