### 4/5 — It keeps getting better

*2026-08-05, version 1.13.1*

The more I use it, the more I like it.

### 4/5 — Great Program

*2026-07-13, version 1.13.1*

Thanks for keeping this app running strong. All of our belongings are added here. I would just like to know the way to add or delete a picture or note.

### 5/5 — Great Organizer

*2026-03-20, version 1.13*

I am very happy with the app Under My Roof, this app has helped me understand what I have in my home and confirm I have appropriate insurance coverage.

### 4/5 — Good place to store things. Tricky to navigate

*2026-03-13, version 1.13*

I like this app and use it when I remember :) but it needs a little work on searching and coordinating things. For instance when I get a reminder for some item I can’t see what item, it’s for smoke detectors and I have several of course. There’s no way to go from reminder to see the
Item and room. So I have no idea which one to change batteries on.

### 5/5 — Essential home management app with outstanding support

*2026-03-10, version 1.13*

Under My Roof is a brilliant app — beautifully designed, intuitive, and packed with genuinely useful functionality. We use it to store everything related to our home: insurance policies, vehicle documentation, warranty details, purchase invoices and more. It keeps all of our important information organised and easy to find.
What really sets this app apart is the customer support. The team is responsive, thoughtful, and clearly committed to improving the user experience. They take suggestions on board, follow up, and provide help whenever needed. It’s rare to find developers this engaged and supportive.
A fantastic app that has become an essential part of how we manage our household. Can’t speak highly enough of it.

### 3/5 — Useful, but subscription based.

*2026-02-20, version 1.12.1*

I like this app, I really do. I’ve paid the subscription for about 3 or 4 years, but I’m stopping now. I think subscription software is ridiculous. If you were a newspaper, with reporters going out everyday to gather the news, I might consider it, but you’re a piece of software, and bug fixes and small incremental upgrades just aren’t worth it. It should just be a one time charge of some sort, I’m perfectly willing to pay for software, but not indefinitely..

### 5/5 — Great Inventory, Kludgy Reports

*2026-02-03, version 1.12.1*

The app is great for capturing the details - so many default and optional fields. But with all this data, creating custom report is very frustrating. I should just be able to pick and choose the fields I want, and not be forced to use pre-defined reports with limited parameters.

### 5/5 — The Best!

*2026-01-19, version 1.12.1*

If you don’t have this, you’re missing out. There’s nothing else like it. So easy to use, update and maintain your home’s inventory. And, they keep updating it to make it even better! Been using it for years!

### 5/5 — Great Program

*2026-01-17, version 1.12.1*

I’ve had this app for quite a while and it just gets better and better. It takes a bit of time to get started but after that it’s so easy. I love the fact that I can track warranty and I can attach manuals. They are great people that build this app and highly recommended! Subscription is minimal to keep the developers in business. I don’t like subscriptions but this one is reasonable. It takes a bit to set up but once you put everything in,it’s easy to find the information you need. Great for keeping track of warranties and such. It just works.

### 5/5 — Finally, a place to put everything	!

*2026-01-16, version 1.12.1*

After losing a small cabin to wildfire, my insurance company wanted a detailed inventory list before paying out on the contents portion of the policy. Needless to say, that task was difficult since I had to rely on memory and some photos. Since then, I’ve become focused on capturing the inventory in my primary home. I now have a place to store everything and to eliminate paper. Those 2-page assembly instructions? They are now scanned documents in the app and the paper is recycled. I’m a long time PC/Windows user but this is the only meaningful full-featured app for home contents. I ended up buying a MacBook Air just so I could streamline data entry. The barcode scanner is my favorite data entry method. And, when the info is in the app, I can lookup details about inventory when I’m buying extra parts (was that a 10” or 12” chainsaw chain I need to buy?) Trust me when I say the annual renewal fee is nothing compared to having a comprehensive list of contents in case of fire, theft or ensuring you do have adequate coverage.

### 5/5 — cool

*2026-01-13, version 1.12*

cool

### 5/5 — The Best!

*2025-12-28, version 1.12*

Have used several a couple of inventory apps/software over the years and settled on Under My Roof Home Inventory some 15+ years ago…when it was a stand alone on the computer and now the current version. Just outstanding! And…questions/comments are replied to very quickly…meaning within a day or so. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Parfait pour gérer ses biens !

*2025-12-25*

Excellente application, très complète tout en restant simple.
Permet de gérer l’inventaire de ses biens et d’en suivre l’évolution (garantie, réparations, évolutions).
Et une vraie version française, ce qui ne gâche rien !

### 5/5 — Absolutely Love this Inventory Software

*2025-12-13, version 1.11.3*

Love, Love, Love it. And I Love how they continue to support and improve the product. Once of the best Apps I’ve ever purchased.

### 5/5 — Continually impressive

*2025-12-04, version 1.11.2*

These folks are always adding something new and impressive-additionally they are open and responsive to questions and suggestions! I log everything associated with or in the house - love that it is accessible on my computer, my phone and my iPad. All this information is portable and accessible! Simply brilliant and extremely well priced- big thanks

### 5/5 — Under my roof home inventory app iPad

*2025-11-23, version 1.11.2*

Been using this now for two years, I think it’s brilliant how many times have you wanted to take an item back under warranty and can’t find the receipt? This is your answer. The app is more than that dive in have a look.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Requires Subscription

*2026-08-12, version 1.13.1*

This app only allows you to list a total of #10 items on/in your inventory for free. Anything more than #10 items requires a subscription. They do allow you to have a ten day free trial, but that’s it. An app with such a simplistic use should be free to use because this is nothing that you can’t do on your cell phone for free in the ‘Notes’ section, etc.

### 1/5 — Definitely not a free app. Free for 10 items is a joke

*2026-06-26, version 1.13*

If your app is paid, list it as paid. The subscription service for apps like this which should be a one time purchases is garbage. Do not support this garbage business model.

### 1/5 — No better program made!!!!

*2026-03-31, version 1.13*

No better program made!!!!

### 1/5 — Say “No” to Subscriptions

*2025-12-08, version 1.11.3*

I honestly cannot fathom why this requires a subscription instead of a one-time purchase. This is not normal. I don’t want to wonder why I’m getting charged a year or two from now for something I haven’t used very much. That’s essentially what apps that require subscriptions are counting on.

### 1/5 — Import issue

*2025-08-02, version 1.10.1*

The ability to import from a CSV file seems corrupted, with the option sometimes being there and sometimes not. AI says this is a known issue and offered several reasonable solutions, but none of them worked. I'm not going to subscribe to an app that is glitchy right out the gate.

### 1/5 — Sleazy

*2025-04-03, version 1.9.2*

As soon as I saw no payment info, upfront, I just waited to see how long it took, and how much it costs. I won’t know if it’s worth it because I deleted it based on the nature of there company that conceals the price in this fashion, until you waste time and get nothing but an Inevitable paywall - before you know what you’re paying for.Their choice but many people don’t appreciate the lack of honesty up front. They want personal financial data to proceed and evaluate the quality of their product. Some people are reckless and irresponsible and don’t care who they give it to. A negative review is the only way to send a message.

### 1/5 — Repairs and Changes need work

*2024-12-23, version 1.9.1*

I’ve spent a lot of time adding Repairs and Changes in the Mac app for various locations. When I look in the iOS app, they are nowhere to be found. The ones added under the Home show up, but not under Locations. All I see in the app is the Inventory list. I looked at their help documentation and videos thinking I must be looking in the wrong place, but all of that is outdated and does not represent the current UI. Another feature that would be really appreciated is the ability to move an entry after it’s been added. For example, adjust a Change to a Repair or move it to a different Location. Also, the ability to pull up all Changes across all Locations into one list. One use case I have for the app is to easily pull up adjustments to my house cost basis, but that requires me to go to each location and tally up the total by hand. Unfortunately, the app seems very Inventory focused, which is not what I care that much about.

### 1/5 — Abonnement !

*2024-12-11*

Y en a vraiment marre d’avoir un abonnement pour la moindre application 😡

### 1/5 — Not yet worthy successor to Home Inventory

*2024-11-21, version 1.9*

I agree with the other reviewer that updates have come too infrequently for such an expensive subscription. Look in Version History for recent intervals of several months between updates.

The worst part of Under My Roof continues to be the poor experience of the pills for Categories, Collections, All Items, etc. For example, click All Items, and watch the animation; it briefly shows you the previous view, and then weirdly wipes into a sub-view of items.

The pill is bizarrely not a drop-down menu; it’s a button that takes you to another view of additional pills but where you always have to move your mouse down substantially even to choose the first option, All Items.

Moreover, why is the All Items view (which is my most-used Home Inventory view) so clumsily nested? You have to click confusingly a Back-button out of it to the previous principle view. Same goes for Disposed Items.

Why is the animation to switch pills so maddeningly sluggish? Compare to Home Inventory where you were quickly in the new view.

Why is the pill button — which I'm sure you'll use most often — quite a way down in the UI; but the hamburger button, which you'll rarely use, so conveniently placed at top-left. I kept hitting the hamburger button wanting to change mode.

Previously you saw the purchase date for All Items, but that’s gone. Despite the sorting being more flexible in Under My Roof, the app does not show you the sort value (when it’s not Name) which is a huge drawback.

Reading the reports of slower syncing the more data you enter makes me wonder: does this app still clumsily store images in the sqlite file?

### 1/5 — Requires a subscription.

*2024-10-31, version 1.9*

Wish it was a one time fee. It’s too tricky to get out of subscriptions these days so I avoid them like a plague! I’ll just buy a paper ledger . $20 for 10 years vs $300 for 10 years. Sometimes you just can’t beat the good old days ;-).

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Underrated

*2026-08-18, version 1.13.1*

Honestly, this is the best inventory management app out there. It should be the first result on a search.
Excellent product, simple to use, keeps getting updates, fantastic user support, and I know they to move to a subscription model, but they don't screw you over.
As long as I've done my job recording stuff, this is fantastic and saved from being in a pickle several times, whether that's finding the manual, or the receipt for a warranty claim, even when the filter was last replaced, or the colour of the walls 🤣🤣
This is the one app you won't regret!

Update Aug 26

Still an Excellent app — incredibly useful and much more versatile than I expected. It’s really well thought out, easy to use and has plenty of flexibility for organising and managing different inventories.

I also contacted support with a slightly unusual question about sharing separate inventories, and the response was fantastic — quick, friendly and with a clever solution that worked perfectly.

A great product backed up by genuinely excellent customer service. Highly recommended, and very happy to support a small independent developer!

### 5/5 — Outstanding app

*2026-08-12, version 1.13.1*

Absolutely brilliant app for both knowing what you have and invaluable when moving houses. Thank you to the developers.

### 5/5 — Software Problem

*2026-08-02, version 1.13.1*

I've used Under My Roof for a number of years. Recently I tried to enter a new item in inventory, but I was unable to open a blank item template. The issue lasted for several hours, but disappeared late in the day. I sent an email to Binary Formations support and received a quick reply. They asked for and gave me instructions on how to send them the Under My Roof logs, which I did. The support team found the issue in my logs and identified it as unsual and something not seen before. They are working on it and anticipate including a fix in a future software release. I was impressed with the support team's responsiveness, care and follow through, and look forward to more years of using and enjoying this great program!

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-08-01, version 1.13.1*

Highly recommend UMR Home Inventory App. If the unthinkable happens to your home you will at least have everything you need at your fingertips to make claims etc. It is also a great app for managing your home on a day to day basis as well.

### 5/5 — Great, great app, Couldn’t do without!

*2026-06-11, version 1.13*

I’ve tried several home inventory apps, but Home Inventory is by far the best one I’ve used!
This app is incredibly detail-oriented. You can add photos, receipts, purchase dates, warranties, serial numbers, estimated values, and tons of custom details for every item in your home. It makes creating a thorough home inventory super easy and organized.
The app is also very fast — adding new items with pictures and receipts takes just seconds, and everything syncs smoothly. I love being able to snap a quick photo and attach the receipt right in the app. It’s perfect for insurance purposes, moving, or just keeping track of your valuables.
Whether you’re inventorying your entire house or just a few rooms, this app handles it effortlessly. Clean interface, powerful features, and it actually makes the process enjoyable.
Highly recommend Home Inventory to everyone! It’s a must-have app for homeowners. 🏠✅

### 5/5 — It just works (and beautifully)

*2026-06-09, version 1.13*

This app gladdens my heart. It knows the job of documenting your possessions, maintenance tasks, moving-crate contents etc etc is always going to be tedious. So it goes out of its way to make the tasks as simple and straightforward as possible. Do you prefer photographing your items before or after documenting them? Do you need to switch locations of certain items? Do you need to edit any detail, anywhere at any time?
With this app you have the freedom to do things your own way. It just works, no fuss, no bother. And it’s quite the sense of achievement and satisfaction you’re left with - organising your life for the better doesn’t get much easier.

### 5/5 — THANK YOU, THANK YOU Amazing Inventory program

*2026-06-05, version 1.13*

FINALLY an inventory program that does the job and does it RIGHT! Adding descriptions, locations, pictures, receipts and the list goes on. All easily inputted. Great work and worth every penny.

### 5/5 — Best-in-class

*2026-05-24, version 1.13*

I’ve been a user of UMR (and Home Inventory before it) for more years than I can count. It’s been an amazing app that only gets better with time. The developer is always there to help when it is needed. As the world gets inundated with more and more AI slop, the more grateful I am for apps like this that are crafted by humans who actually care.

### 5/5 — Useful if you use it

*2026-04-27, version 1.13*

To the extent I use the app, it’s helpful to organize receipts, warranties, manuals, etc. I could definitely get more from if it if I remember to add new items to it more regularly. It could be a little more user friendly to add documents - you can’t easily drag and drop how you might expect. They’re always coming out with new features to make it better, it’s way better than a filing cabinet, and it has saved me from hunting through my file system to find information.

### 5/5 — No better program made!!!!

*2026-04-25, version 1.13*

No better program made!!!!
