### 4/5 — Great puzzles - just add cloud syncing

*2026-08-14, version 1.2.1*

Short and sweet escape room style puzzles. If you have played other games from the developer, you’ll notice familiar characters in this one, which was a nice surprise. Puzzles were challenging but solvable, nothing seemed unfair or required me looking up any hints. Removing 1 start because there’s no cloud syncing between iPhone and iPad.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unsuitable for pilgrims of Jesus Christ

*2025-12-23, version 1.2.1*

1 Thessalonians 5:22 : “Abstain from every form of evil.” Celebrates cruelty and neglect of vulnerable people and animals. Unbelievable that this adult material is rated 12 yrs.

### 1/5 — Sad, to see a franchise worsen

*2025-04-02*

Rusty Lake’s early games, while lacking in budget, were some of the most unique games I played. The puzzles were clever and original, but they never required jumps in logic that made solving impossible. I used to think that the method of storytelling in the original cube escape games was ingenious - a series of vignettes, that, when put together, tell a nuanced story. Visually, the room settings were eccentric and fun, creating a distinct Rusty Lake feel. It was perfectly planned chaos, which provided an unmatched gameplay experience. Even now that I recognize the devs never had a gnostic cosmology or an established philosophy of time underlying the games (thanks Reddit), I can still appreciate how unique and wonderful they are. Underground Blossom, however, lacks all of these elements. The puzzles were short and boring, with most of them amounting to collecting an object and using it in its corresponding location. (e.g.: I found a bottle! Maybe I should give it to the baby?) The whole game took me about 75 minutes. Even the achievements were boring, because you basically had to click around to find them. And the story was obvious, because we knew all of the information the game was supposed to provide, except for Rose leaving. The game also failed in making me feel sympathy for Laura, so the faux-emotional ending fell flat. Most disappointing, the visuals were plain and uninteresting. The tiles made the scenes feel utilitarian, and it didn’t help that there would only be about five objects in any station. I would have thought that I higher budget would improve the gameplay, but it is obvious Rusty Lake is trying to entice younger players by having easier puzzles, more overtly creepy settings, and basic stories. But this game has a 4.9 star rating, so it is clearly working. Enjoy your success, Rusty Lake.

### 1/5 — Final malo

*2024-12-15*

Menuda basura de final

### 1/5 — Disappointing as their recent games

*2023-11-03*

I took this game only as a puzzle game. The puzzles are not really difficult. Give some tries and you should solve them all by yourselves.

I bought this game because I used to like their original games. I don’t care about the story. The game designers failed to tell the story clearly, probably because they didn’t even know the story and perhaps their minds are full of chaos. Honestly, they no longer have the creativity which they used to show in the original Rusty Lake games. Also check their website, which is full of teasers and other random stuff, but lack of serious development of their games. If players are treated less seriously in this way, I, a former loyal player, have lost the last interest in their works.

Anyway, those new to this series may find this game entertaining. But I will no longer buy any of their new games.

### 2/5 — Puzzles aspect not what it used to be

*2026-02-28, version 1.2.1*

Never really understood the story or cared too much, just liked the creepy aspect it adds. Compared to cube escape, samsara room and rusty lake I thought the story was somewhat less developed but the puzzle solving is WAY less developed. Would’ve enjoyed something similar to previous games where you go back and forth between stations to use objects and solve puzzles, or for each station/chapter to be more involved.

### 3/5 — Had fun

*2026-02-15*

Personally I enjoyed the game quite a lot. About 2 hours of gameplay. But was it worth the price to download the app? Maybe not. It’s a good game but because it wasn’t free I expected a bit more gameplay.

### 3/5 — Just ok

*2025-03-31, version 1.2.1*

Im halfway through. The game lacks heart and substance. Kind of a let down so far. Just ok.

### 3/5 — :)

*2025-03-14, version 1.2.1*

Lovely

### 3/5 — Waste of money

*2025-01-20, version 1.2.1*

I feel like i wouldn’t mind paying if they just had all the games together on one app. I finished that way to fast

### 3/5 — El mejor juego
