## What is undertext Bible?

sit with the language beneath the verse.

undertext Bible is a quiet place to read the Bible next to its original words: Hebrew in the Old Testament, Greek in the New, and the Aramaic Peshitta beside it. one word at a time, each with its transliteration, a short gloss, and its Strong's number. tap any word to see what the English is standing on.

every word can be heard, too. Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, each read aloud in a real recorded voice.

when You want to go deeper, Grace is an optional study companion grounded in the passage on the screen. when You choose send, undertext shares Your question, the passage in front of You with its original-language context, and from this sitting only, up to eleven recent messages and up to eleven of the verses You stopped at. the request goes to Claude from Anthropic, through Amazon Bedrock, and only after You give explicit permission. Your name, account, device identifier, and the rest of what You read are not part of the request.

when You choose the mic, Your spoken audio streams through Amazon Transcribe to make an editable draft. the draft does not go to Grace until You choose send.

keep what matters in a private journal and library. Your writing is kept in Your own private iCloud, or on this device when iCloud is not reachable, or held just until You close the app when neither is. the journal always tells You which of those is holding the page in front of You, and if a save does not go through, the words stay on the screen with a way to try again.

undertext is built for stillness, not speed. one verse fills the screen. nothing else asks for Your attention.

I’ve tried a lot of Bible study tools, and this app stands out because it’s incredibly user-friendly while still offering real depth. It makes it easy to explore the original language, understand the context and intent behind each passage, and compare different theological perspectives without feeling overwhelmed. What used to take me much longer across multiple resources can now be done in one place, making Bible study more efficient and engaging.

One thing I especially appreciate is that it respects user privacy. Unlike many apps today, it doesn’t track or collect your personal data, which makes using it feel much more trustworthy. If you’re looking for a Bible study tool that is both powerful and easy to use, I highly recommend giving this app a try.

The creator of this app, Matt Gennings, leaves hateful comments on black people’s instagram reels. His user name is matt_tv. Really ironic such a hateful person made a bible app and is a proud Christian. Hey Matt! WWJD buddy? Stop spreading and reenforcing hate! Stop putting people down and being mean. Jesus was an outspoken champion for the people that were different. He preached love and acceptance not belittling and publicly making fun of those who are different. There will be no place for you in the kingdom of heaven if you actually believe in Jesus and follow his teachings. I think you should be leaving comments asking people to be nice and to stop bullying for now on. Stop the hate. Be a real change in the world instead of making a virtue signaling app to look like a good person but in reality practicing hate and hurting actual humans. I’ve collected all of the comments you’ve left and am sending it to your supervisor at Apple. I will also make a public post about everything I’ve found and rally Twitter followers to pressure Apple to let you go. Have a good day and god bless

This came across my feed, I didn't know who she was, and I carelessly treated it like a comedy thread and piled on with a comment about her appearance. That was thoughtless and unkind, and dressing it up as "just a joke" doesn't change how it landed. I've taken it down and I'm sorry. For what it's worth, race genuinely wasn't on my mind; I can see why it read that way given the thread, and I'm not saying that to excuse the comment, because the comment was unkind regardless. I'll be more careful about being someone who adds kindness instead of the opposite.

This is unlike any Bible app I’ve ever used.

Being able to see the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic directly beneath the English text — word for word — completely changes the way I read Scripture. With a simple tap, I can see the meaning and pronunciation of the original language, which brings so much deeper understanding and context.

What I love most is the simplicity. No clutter. No distractions. No endless features getting in the way. Just the Word, beautifully presented in a thoughtful and contemplative way.

The app is fast, easy to use, works offline, and clearly built with incredible attention to detail.
