Unhatched is an absurdly peculiar mix of puzzle solving and role play, married together by a simple card swiping mechanic. It puts you into the role of a young dragon trainer. Swipe left or right through numerous puzzles and story events to reclaim your freedom. What starts innocently with opening a jar of pickles, will end up testing the limits of your wit and bond you create with your dragon! During your adventure you will collect cards and use them to duel mini-bosses controlled by the computer. It'll require mini deck building, carefull planning and a strategic approach. The game has no randomness so each time there is a solution. Each card in your deck can be swiped either left or right to have a different effect. It’s a weird and fairly limited ordering puzzle disguised as a card game that’s disguised as a.. honestly I’m not sure what it is, but if you’re a fan of CCGs like Hearthstone or card-based roguelikes like Slay the Spire - well, this doesn’t really seem to be any of those things and you’ll probably be disappointed. Each encounter gives you a new ‘deck’ which consists of 3 pairs of cards. Each card will be drawn in order, and each card has a left/right option. The ‘deck building’ consists of a puzzle where you choose how 3 pairs of cards will be drawn (1st and 4th, 2nd and 5th, or 3rd and 6th), and then whether you pick left or right each turn. Choose wrong, and you’ll draw in the wrong order and your deck won’t work. There’s no replay, and many of the puzzles are just about memorizing the scenario.
