### 2/5 — Bad customer service

*2026-03-12*

The content is great, but they completely screwed up my subscription. I contacted them and literally all they did was send me a case number (automated, I assume). No further effort on their part.

### 4/5 — The link does not work well

*2024-11-13*

I like the idea of the paywall sending a link to my e-mail. I would like the link to work quickly and reliably!

### 2/5 — Useless App

*2024-11-03, version 2.0*

Bad app, won’t allow you to log in at all. Pointless.

### 4/5 — great content, thoughtful writers. The App itself needs to be sorted out though

*2024-09-17*

Great writers and insights. Please sort out the user experience though - hire a web developer for a few days to sort it out . otherwise brill.

### 4/5 — Good articles, flaws in the app

*2024-03-16*

The articles are good if somewhat repetitive but the app will treat you as reading the same article multiple times if you leave the app briefly. Which means that 5 articles a month is more like 2

### 4/5 — Houthi’s

*2024-01-14*

I appreciate the background information on the houthis. It seems like a very level description of the situation.

### 5/5 — Quality writing about things that matter

*2023-10-04*

It’s great to have articles with content rather than froth, that are rooted in context with a proper analysis of the issues.

### 1/5 — Log in issues

*2023-09-10, version 1.8*

Content is goood, bit unable to log in to the app.

### 1/5 — Content is good but impossible to log into the app

*2023-08-20, version 1.8*

All there in the title.

Subscribed recently and enjoying the content but have to read online as impossible to log into the app.

### 2/5 — Great writing; limited content; poor functionality

*2023-08-13*

Some great writing. Whether I agree or not with the commentators, I appreciate the quality of writing. However, there is limited content posted daily. I subscribed as I thought I’d be losing out just checking the limited articles I could read without subscribing. But really, there’s not much to lose out on. The app is awful. I have to keep signing in, even after signing in and going to my account, I have to sign in again to see anything. Interestingly, no facility to cancel the subscription, so will have to remember to contact them directly next year to cancel.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible App & Website even worse customer service

*2025-12-27*

The app, website, account management software is absolutely horrible….hard to believe how bad it is…..no one responds to support emails….account subscription services are pathetic…seriously ????

### 1/5 — Awful

*2025-01-14, version 2.2*

Why do I have to keep signing in and why have I been told I have reached my free limit when I am a subscriber?

### 1/5 — Crappy App

*2025-01-10*

I just subscribed and I can sign in on the web, but I can never sign in on the app. I have tried about 20 times. Also I search for things on the app but those articles aren’t available on the website. The hassle isn’t worth the trouble.

### 1/5 — Shut out

*2024-10-17*

Why does UnHerd have such a problem with my subscription and password. I’m so fed up with constantly being asked to log in and then having my password refused and am unable to read the articles I have already paid to read. This has been happening for months now in spite of contacting support. Why can’t the emails I get promoting articles send me as a paid up subscriber to the article instead of asking me to log in to read them. Really fed up

### 1/5 — Great article, let down by app

*2024-09-27, version 1.9*

Firstly, UnHerd is a great resource for reading diverse opinions on a range of issues. Its international coverage is particularly impressive and shames the likes of the BBC.
However, its app does the content little justice. Main problem WHY DO I KEEP HAVING TO LOG ON EVERY TIME I READ AN ARTICLE AND THEN EVERY TIME I READ THE COMMENTS. Rant over, sort it out devs.

### 1/5 — A terrible app

*2024-09-05, version 1.9*

Here I am rating the app. It is a waste of time. It is always asking me to sign in, remembers nothing. This is not a problem I encounter with any other app on my iPhone. A rich man owns UnHerd: he should invest some of his wealth in better app architecture. Otherwise, the content on UnHerd is pretty good.

### 1/5 — Annoying App

*2024-07-27*

I enjoy Unherd but the App dev team need sacking. It often fails to recognise me as a subscriber and the comments section makes it difficult to up and down vote comments. In the latest exciting new development it won’t let me comment at all because of some sort of Recaptcha issue. Other publications seem to manage these things perfectly well but it seems beyond the wit of whoever Unherd has given this job to. I don’t imagine that running an app such as this is rocket science in this day and age.

### 1/5 — New App / Design is horrendous

*2024-03-10, version 1.9*

Used to find the app easy to navigate. Not now. Mad.

### 1/5 — Two free articles not five!

*2023-11-02*

I read two article for free then I get a message stating I’ve used all my free five articles for the month already and I have to pay? Why would I buy this product if they can’t even count? the articles are all very interesting and well written when I do get to read them…

### 1/5 — The link does not work well

*2023-10-23*

I like the idea of the paywall sending a link to my e-mail. I would like the link to work quickly and reliably!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Greatly informative article and also superbly written.

*2026-01-20*

It pains me to confess that I knew next to nothing about the man John Quincy Adam’s. This article has done me a great service by expanding my knowledge of one of our nations most interesting and influential thinkers and leaders. I give my heartfelt thanks to the author for his good work.

### 5/5 — Got to be there

*2025-12-05*

The description of the tree becoming a "must see" after featuring in a movie is a little like a section of the UK populations need to go to Lords or to Australia for a cricket game. The game isn't important the being there is. It's so vacuous and there a numerous parallels

It's a phenomenon worthy of some academics analysis over the next 10 years at great cost to the taxpayer and little benefit!!

### 5/5 — Listening option

*2025-11-06*

Please add feature to listen to articles - Unherd is an evening slow reading for me and I try to reduce my screen time

### 5/5 — Great News

*2025-09-27, version 2.7*

Excellent app

### 5/5 — A diet of ideas

*2025-01-09*

Well written, well argued articles, with a guide to just how long they might take to read, are a delight. People, places and ideas and lots of politics, could there be a more compelling reason for reading UnHerd?

### 5/5 — Great journalism- bad app

*2024-10-19*

I like the journalism. Thought provoking and interesting. The app, however, is terrible. I paid for a subscription but the app refuses to recognise me so I can only read using the website. I don’t understand why the only way to log on is via an email link. What is wrong with a password ?

TBH I will probably not renew my subscription due to this hassle.

### 5/5 — App’s Great But Needs Dark Mode

*2024-07-25*

I have no complaints otherwise

### 5/5 — Great design and UX

*2024-03-04*

Articles are bold, informed, and independent

### 5/5 — Fine journalism

*2024-02-23*

No, I don’t agree with all the commentaries, but they are thought provoking and well written. Often they tackle issues ignored by the legacy media, or where only one view is allowed. Freddie Sayers is a great interviewer and everything a leading journalist should be. He restores faith in basic British virtues , not least in those of fair play and excellence. We are better off for UnHerd.

### 5/5 — There’s a lot of work to be done on this

*2023-12-12*

There’s much work to be done on this. The site charged my credit card three days ago yet it continues to limit my access to pieces on the app. I sign in with my email, then I’m directed to the email account where, after about a ten minute delay, I find a link to access the web site — not the mobile app. The password created when I first signed up appears to be totally irrelevant.

This is quite sad because the stable of writers whom they’ve corralled looks to be quite exciting. Please get this app working properly!
