### 3/5 — Orphaned: no reply from tech support; wouldn’t launch until I uninstalled/reinstalled

*2026-01-27, version 1.7*

UPDATE: Deleting the app and all of its local data, then reinstalling fixed the problem on both iOS and iPadOS.

The iPad version doesn’t know the keyboard key locations in landscape mode any more, but still does in Portrait.

This has been such a great app since I bought it for all my platforms years ago. Unfortunately, the iPad/iPhone versions stick on the splash screen then timeout and exit after 5 seconds now. The macOS version continues to work like a champ. Hoping the developer reads this and fixes whatever is preventing the iOS version from launching—they haven’t responded to any emails to their tech support. Perhaps it calls home to a server which is no longer online?

### 4/5 — I wish they continue updating this app

*2025-11-09, version 1.7*

Excellent app, unfortunately not updated for years.

### 2/5 — A sad day

*2025-05-15, version 1.7*

This app was great on release I could control mail clutter and read very easily.now this app no longer works..All the good apps are dis’s appearing 😢I miss the app😢😢

### 3/5 — App stopped syncing with Gmail

*2025-01-13, version 1.7*

Hello, it is a great application, I used to rely on for my Gmail account. However, lately it stopped syncing with Gmail. Will there be any solution to this problem?

### 3/5 — Needs an update

*2024-01-22, version 1.7*

It stopped working for my mail provider more than a year ago. Nice app if it works for you. A bit basic though and it could use some extra features.

### 3/5 — Good, but I worry about it being orphaned.

*2023-09-21, version 1.7*

I had to reinstall to get it to start syncing again and I like being able to see all of the messages I have from a sender and handle them all at once. I’m a little worried that the app looks orphaned, though (2yrs since last update).

### 3/5 — Nice features.

*2023-04-14, version 1.7*

It won’t check for my email unless it’s open in the foreground of my iPhone. I like some of the features, though.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-02-04, version 1.7*

Cool concept but can’t add my gmail
Doesn’t seem to be actively developed

### 3/5 — Wonderful Concept. Very Promising, but buggy scrolling

*2022-07-14, version 1.7*

Very Promising and a wonderful concept, but there is such buggy scrolling that makes it impossible to read many emails. If all you want to do is archive mail, this is a great app for it, but it is not stable enough for full-time use.

### 3/5 — Good, but doesn’t support Advanced Protection

*2022-07-09, version 1.7*

Excellent app, however they don’t currently support Gmail accounts that have Advanced Protection enabled.
Please take the steps to get the app approved with Google for Advanced Protection users.

### 1/5 — Please fix swipe

*2022-01-28, version 1.7*

I like the app but I can’t get my swipe preferences to save

### 4/5 — Best email client you will ever need

*2022-01-05, version 1.7*

I’m a type of a gadget freak, and like to test out new things… so I’ve tried almost every email client there is.

This is by far the most beautifully organized email client you could wish for. It collects all the emails of one person at one place and segregates them by subject. So you’d have a roll of all correspondence no matter through which account it happened, and yet you can expand a whole separate thread you were discussing.

Still you keep traditional mail look, not some chat form. And you have all the attachments in one place. It’s a dream to work with, I can not ever use another client after being so spoiled with this one.

One remark for a lower score is inconsistency in fetching email, as they don’t keep passwords on their server for the point of security, thus it’s not push, but fetch. And they seem to be very irregular.

Other than that, it’s incredible that I don’t even mind paying for two separate subscription both for mac and iOS.

Wish they will come to senses and continue supporting this app with a bit better advertisement, I’m sure they’d make it essential!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Great app but no longer works

*2025-02-11, version 1.7*

Loved the app but it stopped working. Reached out to developer or support but no response.

### 1/5 — Gmail does not work

*2025-01-31, version 1.7*

Seems to be not updated to the latest gmail. Says “this app is blocked” when trying to login to google

### 1/5 — Used to be great but it’s abandoned

*2024-12-15, version 1.7*

Unfortunately this app seems to be abandonware. It does not support 2FA which makes it pretty useless for Gmail now (the desktop version still works).

### 1/5 — A sad day

*2024-11-26, version 1.7*

This app was great on release I could control mail clutter and read very easily.now this app no longer works..All the good apps are dis’s appearing 😢

### 1/5 — Abandoned App?

*2024-04-22, version 1.7*

App has stopped sending - last update was 3 years ago - is it still supported by its developers?

### 1/5 — Broken!

*2024-01-06, version 1.7*

I tried it several years ago and just now--it's useless! Needs update for iOS17! I delete and delete and everything comes back again and again. Impossible and frustrating! It's a shame, because prior to 4 years ago, Unibox was an excellent app and such a great way to clean up my Inbox.

### 1/5 — Wanted to like it but doesn’t work with Office 365 email

*2023-12-23, version 1.7*

Getting error when setting up account.
I disabled 2 step verification and still errors.
Reached out for tech support. No response yet.
Tried manual set up doesn’t work either.

### 1/5 — Can’t setup and email account

*2023-02-05, version 1.7*

I am unable to set up any email account. I keep getting mail server settings error the data cannot be read because it isn’t in the correct format. I have tried automatic, set up manual set up an even the Gmail set up. I have found no way of reaching support or emailing developer to see if they still support the app. Their Twitter account has not been updated in a few years.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with Yahoo Mail

*2023-01-18, version 1.7*

Tried multiple times. Logged out and in manually on PC to confirm I had my credentials right. Tried manually configuring the account, nothing. It simply will not allow you to use a Yahoo account. Tried my Gmail and that worked. Don’t want the app for that though.

Downloaded Chuck email. Looks great and worked immediately.

### 1/5 — Pop3 support.

*2022-09-15, version 1.7*

I host my own server on my intranet and I use a pop3 server and I’ve been using your app for years.
Every so often I have to delete your app to free up over 7 GB of temporary data that never clears even when you reset the app.
Today I uninstall the app and reinstalled it and I can’t seem to create a pop3 account, I remember I had trouble before but eventually it worked but now I can’t seem to get it to work, what am I doing wrong there’s no support email contact.

### 5/5 — PLEASE DONT ABANDON — I’m still loving it

*2025-01-08, version 1.7*

I’ve been using Unibox for years, it’s still my one and only email client for all of my accounts. It’s simple and powerful. The person centric email threading modernizes emailing to be more like standard messaging. Under the hood the view option, to select a person, and just see all the attachments is an incredible tool.

My favorite tip to anyone:
Buy Unibox even to use for this one trick. Rapidly delete hundreds of spam emails or junk by trashing or junking all the messages from one sender in one step. Or select multiple senders and delete thousands at a time.

Whatever it lacks (in support of specialized features or a given email provider) can be accessed visiting the providers site, such as gmail. So I don’t take a star off for the simple interface or any lack of features.

Plain and simple, Unibox has every feature you’ll absolutely need, and nothing at all that is less necessary which is why I love it. I also love that it’s footprint on my Mac Application support folder is much smaller than Mac’s mail.

### 5/5 — very good email

*2023-11-27, version 1.7*

very happy with this email. System works very well.

### 5/5 — The best

*2023-08-10, version 1.7*

If you want to have a focus-based email client from every aspect, this is the one. It is like a “things” app for email …

### 5/5 — La meilleure

*2023-04-22, version 1.7*

La meilleure au monde. Seul bug on ne peux vider la corbeille tout d’un coup. On dois vider un à un les courriels Merci

### 5/5 — I LOVE THIS APP

*2023-02-08, version 1.7*

I’ve been using mail app forever and also outlook . I have switched to uni box and it has made me so happy and less confused with all these emails and chats everywhere. It’s clear when you see all the emails for the day associated with a person. You can find every single attachment that person has ever sent you as it is right there next to their name.

It has improved my life and I am hopeless at IT. So this is for the disorganised person who wants to be organized but doesn’t know how!

### 5/5 — Main email app

*2022-05-26, version 1.7*

I'm downgrading my review from five stars to two, considering one. When re-installing, the iOS keyboard doesn't show to enter the account password. Account access from Unibox becomes impossible.

This is a serious bug that fenders the app unusable.

Please fix.

Univox is my main email app. The threaded aspiration makes fast mail processing a reality.

### 5/5 — Great Product!

*2022-02-01, version 1.7*

Such a great product - shame that it’s not supported

### 5/5 — Great way to organize messages

*2021-06-06, version 1.7*

Puts all the information I need right where I need it. simple interface. I like that I can assign multiple addresses to my contacts under one entry, such as "newsletters" and then it all pops up under one group in the inbox so I can quickly prioritize my emails without having them disappear into folders.

### 5/5 — Awesome concept and execution

*2021-05-04, version 1.7*

Finally found an email app that respects security and privacy and helps me keep my inboxes clean. Overall a very well rounded app.
