### 2/5 — Gimmicky and Forces Sign In

*2026-07-25*

I wanted to use the AR feature on my new switch. App forces you to sign in. Even after that it can’t do anything locally. App is mainly for sales and buying more UniFi equipment, no point so I uninstalled. Also it was recently renamed from Portal and when I tried signing out it asked if I wanted to sign out of UniFi portal so very little care has gone into this app.

### 2/5 — Floor plan scan doesn’t work

*2026-06-09*

Scanning a building seems to work with the LiDAR, but can’t export to design center. I get a blank screen with an “Export” button that can’t be clicked. Why is the app also a forum and a browser redirect?

### 2/5 — Store credentials

*2026-04-03*

Can no longer buy from within this app, with your UniFi account credentials. Checking out goes to the web store, where u need to log in, might as well just use the web?

### 1/5 — Network Scan ai

*2026-03-14*

Why the Funktion Network Scan ai was Removed from the unifi app to this. Now I need two apps 🤬
In addition the function is not working anymore in portal app. Only a white page and nothing happens…

### 1/5 — Broken

*2026-01-15*

The AR feature won’t sync properly to unifi controller. The community tab doesn’t register taps, rendering it useless

### 1/5 — Pointless forum app, just want the AR view

*2025-11-01*

I tried to use the useful AR feature in the console and was told to download this app. This app is a bad interface to their store and suppport forum. It hijacks web browser links, can’t zoom, can’t open multiple tabs, and the AR feature is hidden away.
Do not install.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work very well

*2025-10-31*

Scanned my switch. It recognized there were ports there, but did not identify anything.

### 1/5 — Nothing in this app works

*2025-10-28*

all the options, store, tech specs, conmunity just sits and endlessly loads. This app seems to have been abandoned just as quickly as ubiquiti abandoned san jose when their finance dept fell for a corporate exec catfisher and swindled then out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

### 1/5 — Awful replacement for the AR feature

*2025-09-07*

One day I tried to use the AR feature of the excellent Unifi app and it sent me to the App Store instead. So I bit and downloaded this thing.

From what I gather, this is essentially an online storefront for Ubiquiti, plus some AI trash nobody asked for. The only feature I actually wanted (AR) is now buried deep inside this otherwise useless app - perhaps as a honey pot to get people to install Portal?

As a loyal customer of this company, I don’t appreciate having tools I use ripped out and repurposed for some dubious corporate strategy. So I deleted Portal as quickly as I installed it and I guess my Dream Machine Pro doesn’t have an AR feature anymore :(

### 3/5 — Needs work

*2025-08-02*

Dark mode required, can’t zoom, need non-US tech specs, work on interactivity.
Compare causes crash

Could be great, but isn't yet.

### 1/5 — UGLY INTELLIGENT APP

*2025-07-15, version 1.2.2*

It’s an ugly App.

### 1/5 — Was hoping the update would fix AR feature in self hosted setups

*2025-06-03, version 1.2.0*

Even with installing 9.1.120 on the console, AR features still do not work. You can see the self hosted site and it has a green indicator but when you select it, you get the following “UniFi Network AR Not Available
This console does not support the AR feature or lacks connected switches for AR display”. Not good

### 1/5 — This is hot garbage

*2025-05-29*

The AR function does not work in this app, but in the previous version of the unify app, it did work. It’s like the team woke up one day and called a meeting to see what the worst ideas were and then implemented them.

When your done force feeding us ai garbage don’t forget to put it next to the block chain server implementation you undoubtedly tried to get working a few years ago.

**Developer response:** Hi, we’d like to help. We've just pushed out the version 1.2.0, which includes various improvements to the AR tools. What's the particular issue you're referring to? Please reach out to us at mobile-support@ui.com so we can provide assistance!

### 3/5 — Meh.

*2025-05-23*

Somewhat pointless. It's a decent interface to the store but as others have pointed out it's appalling that you can't zoom pictures since the whole idea of this is to use it on a mobile. So you cannot read any of the text in any of the product photos. Works well for mobile shopping otherwise.

### 3/5 — Needs to support Font size

*2025-05-19*

Using this app is the worst way to get to these services. You can’t zoom and it doesn’t respect system font size so on phones it’s pretty much useless and OK on an iPad

### 1/5 — No more AR features if you self host your controller

*2025-05-13*

After years of it working near flawlessly, the AR features have been removed if you don’t have an on premises gateway

**Developer response:** Hi, we’d like to help. We've just pushed out the version 1.2.0, which includes various improvements to the AR tools. Please reach out to us at mobile-support@ui.com so we can provide assistance!

### 3/5 — Average

*2025-05-08*

It works but there are several annoying things to be fixed:
- No dark mode, glare screen at night
- No display orientation change, how to compare more than 3 products?
- No photos or pictures zooming in, can’t see anything
- Forum is a pain to browse, scroll, go back etc.

### 1/5 — Community section missing tabs at top

*2026-05-11*

Another update and I still can’t switch between releases and the community forum. There are no visible buttons to select a section. It only loads the forum timeline.
Update: It seems this issue is tied to the iOS setting for Display Zoom being set to “Larger Text”. Turning it off lets you see the Timeline/Release buttons. I unfortunately cannot read the text in the default mode due to poor eyesight.
I have the option of Releases being visible, but can’t read it or it not being visible at all until this gets resolved.
iPhone 16 pro /ios 26.4.2
App: latest public release

**Developer response:** Thanks for the report. Are you still experiencing this after updating to the latest version?

### 1/5 — Useless for design

*2026-05-10*

The app does not work as intended. The 3D scan feature actually does work, but it is impossible to actually build a system and apply it to the floor plan you upload. In fact, the “default” system, despite clicking “remove all devices”, keeps showing up any time you leave the app and come back. The app does not save the items I choose, and when I do choose something (like a gateway and a switch) it remains “outside” my “rack”. You can choose all day, and it will list what you’ve chosen, but I assume because it doesn’t get added to the “rack” may be why you cannot add the system to your uploaded floor plan. The uploaded floor plan does not show up in the design center on the website either. It’s just a bad app. I hope the equipment works better than this!!

### 1/5 — Community section missing tabs at top

*2026-04-16*

Another update and I still can’t switch between releases and the community forum. There are no visible buttons to select a section. It only loads the forum timeline.

### 1/5 — Portal was better

*2026-04-14*

The old Unifi Portal App was better.

### 1/5 — Community section missing tabs at top

*2026-03-31*

In the App Store preview, the community page shows a tab for Timelines and Releases but the app doesn’t have those and defaults to the discussion threads only. The only feature I used in the old versions was to check for software/update releases but that’s the only thing I can’t see now, so the app is not useful to me at all. The UniFi app updates seem to keep breaking simple functions while adding a bunch of UI designs. The Protect App has given me a blank page in the Control Plane for the last several releases, again removing a core function of the app. Not thrilled with these redesigns requiring me to go to my browser to do basic management.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-03-28*

All the racks we designed on the website are not reflected in the app. This is kind of a waste of time.

**Developer response:** Thank you for reaching out. This is something we are actively looking into and hope to bring to the app in the future. We appreciate your patience.

### 1/5 — Does not remember release filter options

*2026-03-25*

App does not persist any of the filter options on the list of releases.

I have to apply the filtering every time I open the app

**Developer response:** Thank you for reporting this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience. The problem has been resolved in version 2.0.4

### 1/5 — Unusable Garbage app

*2026-03-25*

Why they would think this Design app makes sense is beyond me. I see what they are trying to do but it’s a complete mess in an illogical format. It’s so convoluted that even location muscle memory won’t help.
Please clean up you mess.

-loving UniFi fan who has spent 10s of thousands of dollars on your gear over many years-

### 1/5 — Settings are not stored

*2026-03-24*

Every time I start the app my Release selection is back to default (no EA).
Any why does it always start at the screen to build an environment, I have one already

**Developer response:** Thank you for reporting this. This has been resolved in version 2.1.0. Filter state is now saved, however save state applies to the Community tab only and not specifically to the Releases section.

### 1/5 — 動かない?

*2026-03-24*

Unifi app から AR を分離したようだが、まともに機能していない。

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Incomplete App

*2026-07-29*

This app is complimentary to the web Design Center. It’s very useful if you know how to use it, probably looks stupid and unintuitive if you don’t.

### 5/5 — Ignore other reviews

*2026-03-27*

This app is great. Other reviewers literally shouldn’t have this app because they are technically challenged. Should be invite only.

Love it for quick reference of items in UI lineup for cost and specs. Love the feature for testing different virtual APs for connection to various devices. Love the AI answers when I want to know if a deployment will work. Use it and shut up.

### 5/5 — So far, really impressed

*2024-04-02*

Of course this has a lot more potential, but love the first iteration. Nice job! Capacity! Would be cool if the GPT could talk about prices and project costs to brainstorm with also when it refers to a manual, providing a link would be great! Maybe one day it can move everything into the shopping basket too! All in all, great idea! Keep improving this !

### 5/5 — Top 1

*2024-03-13*

Wie immer perfekt Note 1

### 5/5 — Helpful and fun to use

*2024-03-07*

I really like the App and its features. The AI is in a lot of cases quicker than googling the issue it self. And I sometimes browse the shop/speclist just for fun.

A dark mode would be really appreciated.

### 5/5 — Not a fan of Ai but actually super helpful

*2024-03-04*

Not a fan of Ai but actually super helpful

### 5/5 — Nice to Have

*2024-03-04*

Don’t know that it solves any particular problem but it’s really nice to have the store, community, and specs on an app instead of navigating the website, which can be a little clunky on mobile.

### 4/5 — Feature Request

*2026-03-24*

The newly released app that replaced the previous version works well so far. However please add back the ability to see if a software release is “Release Candidate” or “Official” like the previous version showed.

**Developer response:** Thank you for reporting this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience. The problem has been resolved in version 2.0.4

### 4/5 — It is a “portal”

*2025-03-23*

Like the name says, this is a portal to functionality I could find elsewhere, but it is a bit easier to find here. Likely I could achieve some of the convenience by creating a group of web bookmarks on my Home Screen. One “feature” I find very annoying is the fact that the app always returns to the Home Screen when I navigate away and then return to it. Super annoying since I often look at a spec and communicate something to another person and then come back to see more of the spec which has now disappeared and I have to navigate back to where I was…over and over.
