I don’t mind change but this is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. Not user friendly and you just have to go through more loopholes to pay your credit card. ### 1/5 — Worst Move Ever *2022-11-16, version 6.0.1* The normal UFCU app was fairly easy to navigate and work. Then all of a sudden this secondary app for your credit card becomes a necessity and it literally NEVER works. It’s always crashing, freezing, not loading. I can’t even make a payment because the app doesn’t work 99% of the time. And since the credit union is a EST time company and I’m PST, I always have trouble contacting someone to make a payment because I feel like that’s my only option because the app doesn’t work. This needs to be removed and just go back to the one app that actually works. ### 1/5 — Not customer friendly *2022-11-03, version 6.0.1* This app only gets one star because it gives you the option to turn the card off and on instead of having to call the bank. You can’t make any payments through it because it won’t EVER load the screen, it just gives you a blank white page. The main app was and is ten thousand times better than this. ### 1/5 — App is ok when it actually works *2022-10-10, version 6.0.1* Didn’t mind the app at first, actually liked the notifications when my card was charged, but now I can’t login to pay my credit card. What’s the point of making a specific app to pay cards off bit you can’t even log in? Guess I’m just going to have to cancel my credit card with them. ### 1/5 — Unusable *2022-10-02, version 6.0.1* Couldn’t even log in to this app. There’s just a button to take you to the main UFCU app to somehow login from there but literally nothing happens. ### 1/5 — It used to be simple.. *2022-09-08, version 6.0.1* I have 6 accounts. They used to list the accounts by the numbers on the cards. Then they sent new cards and referenced completely new numbers. E.G. Visa card 1234 is now Visa card ABCD. But it’s listed as Visa WXYZ. Has United Federal Credit Union gone out of their way to make it hard to understand their accounting system?? I’ll bet the people that work for United Federal have spouses that yell at them for messing up the system. ### 1/5 — Not so good *2022-09-02, version 6.0.1* Can’t see my wife credit card was told that it won’t be fixed. I guess I will have start looking around at other institutions to bank with. I’m tempted to leave ufcu and go with my husbands visa which is capital one which he loves. We all know why they did this as it’s all about money somehow……to save it for ufcu and to screw over the clients!! ### 1/5 — Worst change *2022-07-27, version 6.0.0* I wish I could give this zero stars. Adding the card controls app is the worst change I’ve seen a bank make. Before we could easily see credit card transactions and make payments. Now it takes multiple extra steps. This was NOT created with the user in mind and makes me want to stop banking here. HORRIBLE change in the ease of service. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2022-07-25, version 6.0.0* Good way to get me to close my UFCU account, maybe that’s the intention? UFCU has slowly made it more and more painful to bank with them. I don’t really believe anyone is capable of being this incompetent so it must be on purpose. I simply want to pay my credit card off on time, in full, every month like I always have and forcing us to use this app is turning that task into a part time job. It used to be so easy to do this on the main UFCU app. Then they obfuscated it so that you had to click “pay loans” to pay a credit card balance. Now they force us to download and use a stand-alone app that doesn’t work. I can only conclude they don’t want people to successfully pay the credit card balance off. This type of obfuscation and obstacle to pay my bill should be illegal. This feels predatory. ### 1/5 — What? *2022-07-23, version 6.0.0* I have not been able to get into this app from the beginning. This is so unlike United Federal Credit Union. It ask me to sign in and then it tells me my info is invalid and then I sign in to the United FCU app with the exact same password and it works fine. So what am I suppose to do? ### 1/5 — Crap App *2022-07-23, version 6.0.0* Can’t even add my payment method. Apparently U.S bank is not recognized as a legit banking company through the app. ### 1/5 — Yikes, what a mess! *2022-07-22, version 6.0.0* Great idea on paper, But it’s confusing, clunky, and incomplete. Hope they get it all straightened out soon. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2022-07-21, version 6.0.0* My bank now requires me to have two separate apps to manage my accounts. This one was so poorly built that I am no longer able to make credit card payments or link any payment accounts. It won’t even let me add my existing United accounts to make a payment. Major inconvenience and unnecessary stress. If you’re going to launch a new program, make sure it’s not total garbage first. ### 1/5 — I just want to view my credit card *2022-07-19, version 6.0.0* I wish they just had a kept the same functionality in the existing app. You could login and see your credit card through the UFCU app or website. But now you have to download and access a second app just to see your credit card…? Why…? Then once you download the new app unfortunately it doesn’t work and you get looped back-and-forth between the two apps……Never being able to be able to view your credit card 😞 ### 1/5 — Poorly planned and poorly executed *2022-07-17, version 6.0.0* The need for a secondary app is asinine first of all, and that already is frustrating in of itself. Second of all, the app itself is extremely poorly executed. Every button press, every tap, every action has a delay on it. Opening up a side menu shouldn’t take a couple of seconds. Network calls and permissions should be cached there should be no need to wait for a menu to open. I can’t add my UFCU account as a payment account automatically…. You can’t add your own checking account to pay your card automatically. How does that get past QA? How does someone knowingly push something to production not supporting your own checking accounts?? Finally, logging in to the app doesn’t work from the app, I HAVE to go to the UFCU banking app to access my card controls account… what?? Why the senseless hurdles? This is disappointing and I can’t believe a legitimate operation is shoveling this level of quality out. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Just.. Why. *2024-07-06* Consider hiring a UX/UI designer because whoever is updating your app is sending you backwards. A member of my household lost their card and I’m dealing with this situation because you’ve overcomplicated a once simple process and they could not seem to navigate it. I once simply logged into the main app to lock the card but I’m now having to download a secondary app while our card is actively missing, what a waste of time! This is a real step backwards in technology that was already lacking. This app automatically gets 1 star for existing. Between this and the pothole at the Benton Harbor location I’m quite ready to take my primary banking elsewhere. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2023-08-12* Giving 1 star is too generous. Having to use a separate app for the credit card is inconvenient and with no added gain. The app itself does not show a running tally of the total. There is a balance listed at the top and the. Purchases listed are below. However, If there is more than one card holder on the account, their purchases show up under their account and you would have to log in as that person to see those purchases. Previously we could see all purchases on the card. There is no reason for this. If it’s a joint account all purchases should be visible to both parties. It’s difficult to make sure the card hasn’t been compromised and to keep track of balances this way. Not to mention it takes several steps now to pay the balance. There is no reason for it to be this hard. The only reason I haven’t left is because we have had this card for many years and it helps the credit score. Nothing good to say about this app at all. Terrible. ### 1/5 — ‘The stupidest thing I’ve ever heard’ *2023-04-16* At first when I tried this app I thought ‘you have to be kidding me’ and it only got worse. If I didn’t have my credit card there for a long time I would close out my accounts. Why change this and make the process less user friendly, more clunky, more time consuming, and overall like a dinosaur? You’re taking steps back United. ### 1/5 — Two massive issues *2023-04-05* The biggest issues with this app is that it regularly applies your payment to the wrong card if you have more than one UFCU card. This has put me in a precarious situation several times and had a negative impact on my credit score by artificially inflating my utilization rate. The second issue is that if frequently dissconects from the UFCU app and has to re-installed just to log in. You can’t count on it to work when you need it. If the app had an internal feedback function i could have raised these issues with the dev, but alas had to come blast it in the App Store. The implementation of this has been severely detrimental to my previously excellent UFCU experience. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2023-02-22, version 6.0.1* I used to really like banking with ufcu. Now it just feels like chemical or first source all over again. I’m closing my credit card account- they obviously want to make it difficult to pay so you rack up interest. ### 1/5 — Why? *2023-02-20, version 6.0.1* No new functionality that is even close to necessary. Need an extra app to do all the stuff I could easily do before…in 1 app. Edit: enough of a pain that I got a new CC and now thinking about leaving UFCU entirely. ### 1/5 — Lost a customer *2023-02-12, version 6.0.1* Just another useless app that’s only intention is to gather and sell our data. As if they already don’t rob us enough as it is. I will be paying off the remaining balance of my card and closing out my accounts. Remember, to be a private system, you must be allowed PRIVACY. ### 1/5 — I hate this app! *2023-01-30, version 6.0.1* I need to be able to see all my transactions at all times no matter which card on MY account that was used! How am I supposed to review and balance this account? Why can’t I see transactions or payments made by the other card on the same account as mine? Oh wait, till a statement is created a month later? No! This is ridiculous! I should be able to see ALL transactions live as they happen on the account! It makes it impossible to pay the full balance accurately! Maybe that’s why it’s set up this way? So no customer can ever pay the full balance off? ### 1/5 — Horrible Design and Decision *2023-01-09, version 6.0.1* This was an absolutely terrible decision. Not only does every other bank I use only have a SINGLE app for everything, and this is exceptionally inconvenient in comparison. Now I have to consider the security of another banking app? Bad decision United FCU. Please make the right call and improve the original app and phase this out. ### 1/5 — Why? *2022-12-19, version 6.0.1* UPDATE: for everyone else who’s trying to log on and nothing happens - you need to log into the original UFCU app when prompted, THEN *click on your credit card account* to open the card controls app. IDK why it doesn’t automatically redirect, but I happened to stumble upon this so sharing in case it’s helpful. ————————————————— First of all, and most importantly, this app straight up doesn’t work. It says I need to login with the UFCU app, it takes me there, I log in, then nothing happens. Second of all, why on earth are two apps required to do basic tasks. ## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — United Card Controls *2022-09-17, version 6.0.1* UPDATE: PLEASE fix the credit card balances IMMEDIATELY! It is absolutely NOT okay that I have now made multiple payments over the last month because the balance is not updating once payments are processed! YOU ARE MESSING WITH PEOPLE’S CREDIT! For a new app, it’s good so far. It’s a nice update to the original UFCU banking app. I do hope they plan to add more features down the road. Two ways to better improve this app- 1. PLEASE ADD BUDGETING! There’s tons of budgeting apps, but I do not feel comfortable linking my bank account to outside apps. 2. Let create their own tags ### 5/5 — People just hate change *2022-09-10, version 6.0.1* All these reviews claiming that there was no point to this app just don’t like change. Just the added ability to turn my card on/off is worth the upgrade. Adding travel plans without making a call? Awesome! Seeing what recurring payment are tied to my card & where the card is stored - functions that are really important in these days of online shopping. ### 2/5 — Needs to be better as a stand-alone app *2023-02-11, version 6.0.1* The functionality is good, but it’s nuts that if you open the app it does nothing unless you access it through the main UFCU app. Just make me log in and verify here too — it’s too messy to have to open an app, go to two sub menus and then click a link that redirects me to card controls. --- *Data collected daily from the US App Store and indexed by [AppsHunter](https://appshunter.io/).
