NOTE: there is a bug for Washington state. Even if you select Washington, it shows Oregon. Please fix this. Thanks. ### 4/5 — Great App for kids to grow with! *2013-10-15* My 2 year old uses this app and loves it! She can identify states by their shape. She basically only uses the puzzle section but can and will continue to use this for some time to come. The only problem I have is that after the OS 7 upgrade, the sound no longer works. Please fix this! Other than that its great. ### 3/5 — I'm a fan of Montessori, but... *2012-01-04* Having taught in a Montessori school, I love the approach. I'd like to see more interactivity in these apps though. I think it would be more meaningful if the states had to be dragged to their proper location, rather than having them move automatically. This would also improve fine motor, and eye-hand coordination. ### 5/5 — Nice app! *2011-05-19* This is a fantastic app but I have to say we only use it in the game mode. I don't think my son would listen to each state. He would be really bored. I agree with another user in that in game mode, it would be good if the states could be shuffled. Also, it would be nice to add another mode of allowing the child to put the puzzle together in his own order. Great app. In spite of the suggestions. I plan on buying the other maps as well. ### 3/5 — No Randomization *2011-04-22* Nice app. One major drawback is that the order to match states is hard-coded. This leads to memorization of position on screen as opposed to shape recognition. Would be great if it had a 'random' toggle somewhere to make matching more challenging. Maybe an optional timer? I want to up the challenge so that I want to come back and keep playing it! Also, I can't find the developer online to provide feedback. SEE the unique state shape and full name spelling. 2. HEAR how the state name is pronounced. 3. SEE each state's relative position on the U. S. Map. You can’t see our country as a whole, stupid! Can I please have my money back? Do not buy this app it offers no value! **Developer response:** The screenshots show exactly how the USA map is rendered - and this is an exact replica of the standard Montessori Puzzle Map for the United States. Sorry it wasn't what you expected... ### 1/5 — Horrible App *2018-04-02* I want my money back. I mainly got it for the US Map. All it teaches is to put the states on the map by shape. It doesn’t even teach my son the names of the states. What’s the point of it if it’s not going to teach him the names??? Extremely disappointed is an understatement. This app is useless. I just wasted my money. **Developer response:** This review is simply not true. The first section of the app, the Learning Center, teaches the name of each state in both written and spoken forms, as well as historical facts about each state. Then you progress to the puzzle in which you assemble by looking for the state that matches the shape of the blinking state on the map. As the pieces are placed, you hear the name aloud to reinforce the name. Then you progress to the puzzle by name, where you search for the state that matches the name shown on the screen, in which you can touch the name to hear it aloud. So, throughout the entire app, the concept of associating the name of the state with its shape and placement is reinforced over and over again. ### 1/5 — Does not work on iPad Pro *2017-01-24, version 5.0* Does not scale to fit large screen. ### 1/5 — States too small *2016-10-22* Impossible. The small states like RI and CT and many others are just so small you can't even drag them, much less find their place on the map. If you could zoom in, but you can't . Mostly I would have liked the ability to move the state onto the complete US map. This way children would learn where the states are. Thanks for your feedback! ### 2/5 — Full vision disappeared after buy it . *2011-04-06, version 1.4* I paid full vision a week ago, now it's only have trail vision on my iPad. Anyone has the same problem? Can't reinstall it. ### 2/5 — It's ok *2011-02-02, version 1.3* This app is just ok. I certainly wouldn't pay more than $2 for it. My oldest is 5 and her favorite thing to do is to put the pieces back by shape. I was disappointed to find out that the pieces are scattered in the exact same place every single time and the states are highlighted in the exact same order. We've had this app for only a few days and my 5 year old is already starting to memorize which order it goes on rather than taking notice of the states shape to know which piece is next. I also was surprised to find out there isn't a free play option where she can take out and put the pieces back as desired. I also would have liked to see other Montessori puzzle maps, such as Africa, Asia, etc. I did like that it is a very traditional in looks. The font is very Montessorian, and the states are colored the same as on a real Montessori puzzle map. Overall it's just ok, but if I had a do-over I wouldn't buy it again. ### 2/5 — Missing a state *2010-12-18, version 1.0* It's kind of hard to learn about all the states when they're not all listed. Good for all ages. ### 5/5 — Informative App *2016-02-17* This app is fun and engaging. This app is a United States Puzzle. This app has several options of how to build the puzzle; by name, by shape or like a regular puzzle. It has options to either tap or drag the pieces into place. There is an informative part that tells the name and location of each state. This part also shares information about each state. This app is great for both Montessorians and non-Montessorians. The only drawback is that Delaware and Rhode Island can be difficult to move. ### 5/5 — Maps *2016-02-01* Great app! My daughters love it. Nice addition to our homeschool activities. ### 5/5 — Great apps for any Montessorian *2015-09-07* As a certified Montessori toddler, early childhood, and lower elementary teacher I have to say I absolutely LOVE these apps. The subtle music and sounds, and the calmness of the voices fits right into the Montessori style of teaching. Not only do I use all of the apps for my own son at home, but I also recommend them to parents who ask for "homework", or who want to supplement their children's Montessori education further. I understand that some people find the apps too boring for their children, or feel as if their children aren't "stimulated" enough. Montessori education stimulates children by giving them accurate facts to work with, not by overloading their senses with bright colors and animated pictures, or loud music and sounds. These apps are a great addition to the Montessori curriculum, presenting children with the original tools but in a more modern medium. ### 5/5 — Great app with zero distractions! *2014-11-19* I wanted to actually buy a map of the United States for my kids room so they learn the real stuff. But then I thought I'd give a shot with the app. (I usually research for hours before downloading apps for my kids!). I am glad I got it. It is a clean and simple app that does not have a 100 hidden games my kids can play (they already have several of those in the other apps!). So when my kids are at it, I know for sure they are doing some value add! (Also, I had some glitch with the billing and they promptly resolved it.) I certainly recommend this and their other map/ geography apps, if you mean for kids to really learn the real stuff, in a fun way. ### 5/5 — Mom with ASD child smiling *2014-02-20* Love it. This is an intuitive and good-looking app. If you're like this parent, and somehow managed to graduate high school weak in US Geography, this is going to teach you along with your kid. (Heck, this would help adults without kids.) Great work, Rantek. The other ones out there are two complex for her with two may words...this one she can play with for hours.
