Wer sich schon etwas mit Hieroglyphen beschäftigt hat, etwa mit dem Handbuch von Michael Höveler-Müller, wird dieses auf dem Google-Übersetzer basierende Smartphone-Werkzeug nicht missen wollen. Mir jedenfalls hilft es sehr, mich tiefer ins Altägyptische einzuarbeiten  - einfach aus persönlichem Interesse. 

Funktioniert leider nur in einer Richtung, von Altägyptisch in zahlreiche andere Sprachen. Und bei der Eingabe (Glypen oder alternativ Code) kann man leider nicht korrigieren, sondern muss den Eintrag löschen und neu anfangen - was aber zum Üben ganz ok ist ;-)

Ich denke, wenn Sie es versuchen, werden Sie sehen, dass die App wie jede iOS-App die Cursorbearbeitung unterstützt, sowie eine Rücktaste, die die letzte Glyphe oder den letzten Gardiner-Code löscht.
Was Übersetzungen von Deutsch nach Ägyptisch betrifft, ist dies derzeit technisch möglich, aber wenn wir in zwei Schritten übersetzen, also beispielsweise von Deutsch nach Englisch (auf dem das Wörterbuch basiert) und dann nach Ägyptisch, erhöhen wir die Fehlerwahrscheinlichkeit. Wenn sich das KI-Übersetzungssystem verbessert, werden wir diese Möglichkeit erneut prüfen.

I think if you try, you will see the app does support cursor editing like any iOS app, as well as a backspace button which deletes the last glyph or Gardiner code.
As for translations from German to Egyptian, that is technically possible at the moment, but in translating in two steps, from say German, to English (which the dictionary is based in, then to Egyptian, we introduce more possibility for errors. As the AI translation system improves, we will revisit this possibility.

Alles was in dieser App angezeigt wird, bis auf die Bedeutung von aufeinanderfolgenden Hieroglyphen, gibt es grundsätzlich auch auf Wikipedia zu finden und zwar 1 zu 1

Wenn man Wikipedia nicht traut, ist die App zur Überprüfung geeignet, allerdings bin ich noch nicht fündig geworden auf welche Quellen man sich bezieht. 

Die Darstellung der Hieroglyphen ist sehr gut.

Wenn die App für Ägyptologen entwickelt wurde, was auch als Antwort auf negative Rezensionen erwähnt wird, sollte das klar erkennbar sein.

Für Fachleute ist die App sicherlich hilfreich. 

Wenn es noch die Möglichkeit geben würde Hieroglyphen mit der Kamera zu „scannen“ um dann die Datenbank zu durchsuchen, wäre sogar der Preis akzeptabel.

Deswegen nur die 3 Sterne 

Everything that is displayed in this app, except for the meaning of consecutive hieroglyphs, can basically also be found on Wikipedia, 1 to 1

If you don't trust Wikipedia, the app is suitable for checking, but I haven't yet been able to find the sources you are referring to. 

The presentation of the hieroglyphs is very good.

If the app was developed for Egyptologists, which is also mentioned in response to negative reviews, this should be clearly recognisable.

The app is certainly helpful for specialists. 

If it were possible to "scan" hieroglyphs with the camera and then search the database, even the price would be acceptable.

Ich glaube, Sie missverstehen die Hauptfunktion dieser App, nämlich die Übersetzung aus dem Altägyptischen in die meisten modernen Sprachen. Das ist etwas, was Wikipedia überhaupt nicht kann. Außerdem listet Wikipedia nur den Standardsatz der mittelägyptischen Hieroglyphen mit 1071 Zeichen auf, aber diese App hat fast 2.800 verschiedene Hieroglyphen, die wiederum das Wörterbuch mit (derzeit) etwa 67.000 Wörtern und Ausdrücken unterstützen. Als Wörterbuch-Tool zum Studium des Alten Ägypten ist diese App einfach eine Klasse für sich. Während Wikipedia eine Glyphe und ihren phonetischen Wert auflistet, hat die Universal Translator App weitaus mehr Informationen zu jeder Glyphe, soweit die Gelehrten auf diesem Gebiet wissen. Diese App ermöglicht es auch, nach Glyphen nach phonetischem und Transliterationswert und nach beschreibenden Wörtern zu suchen. Auch hier sind die Funktionen weitaus besser als die von Wikipedia. 

Ich hoffe, Sie schauen sich noch einmal an, was diese App für Sie tun kann, und überarbeiten Ihre Bewertung möglicherweise.

Übrigens könnte es Sie interessieren, dass die meisten Hieroglyphendatenverweise deutschen Ursprungs sind, vor allem die Arbeiten des verstorbenen Rainer Hannig, zusammengestellt mit mehreren anderen.

I think you might misunderstand the main function of this app which is to translate from Ancient Egyptian into most modern languages. This is something that Wikipedia can not do at all. Further, Wikipedia lists only the standard Middle Egyptian set of 1071 hieroglyphs, but this App has nearly 2,800 different hieroglyphs which in turn support the dictionary of (currently) about 67,000 words and phrases.  As a dictionary tool for studying Ancient Egypt, this App is simply in a class by itself. Further, while Wikipedia lists a glyph and its phonetic value, the Universal Translator App has far more information about each glyph, so far as known by the scholars in the field.  This App also allows one to search for glyphs by phonetic and transliteration value and by descriptive words. Again, far above the functions available in Wikipedia.  

I hope you might take another look at what this App can do for you and possibly revise your review.

By the way, it might interest you to know that most of the hieroglyph data references are German, most importantly, the works of the late Rainer Hannig, collated with several others.
