I have never met this developer but one can only conclude that the attention to detail exhibited, shows a passion for Christianity. Universalis is a liturgy of the hours app and is decidedly well designed. I have used it daily for 20 years and it is still my go to daily prayer source. I credit this app with deepening my faith, enhancing my spiritual life making friends around the world who also use Universalis. Praying this “Prayer of the Church” has brought me intimately closer with scripture and the Church. Oh, the Psalms! The hymns, short one line prayers and antiphons. The selected Bible reading, and finally a selection from a Church Father or saint or sometimes Church document. I cannot recommend this app enough. I really like that it is just a one off payment and you have access always. I have not used its podcasts much but have found them interesting too when I listened. Apart from replacing a Missal at Mass, I have found it a ‘horizon-expanding’ adjunct to faith MPB, Australia I also find the commentary on the readings at Mass interesting and the expanded form of Morning Prayer with its more extensive readings interesting too. My wife encouraged me to download it a few years ago, and it’s become one of my most-used apps. From the backbone of Liturgy of the Hours to Mass readings to The Week Ahead podcast, this is a treasure trove that I feel I’ve barely scratched the surface of. Do your relationship with Jesus Christ a favor and download Universalis. ### 5/5 — Daily anchor *2026-06-27, version 3.165* Have been a regular user for many years. It was enhanced when it could be linked to the live stream by the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph. Their pitch for the singing suits my voice, active participation greatly improves my prayer. The audio version is greatly appreciated when I can’t join online. I’m not a regular for the weekly podcast but do find it very informative. Long list on the Remembrance cards, some people really like that I am praying for their dear departed. I couldn’t survive with Universalis. I purchased the app for ease of use whilst on holiday. The “new” translation of both the Mass itself and the cycle of readings for the seasons and special feasts and occasions, are utterly dire. The phrasing is clumsy, as if translated word for word by a young student who has not understood the instruction to use idiomatic English. “I today with my friend to the supermarket went.” The joy of the good news has been lost in the search for meaningful ways to express the writer’s meaning. The only people helped by the imposition of these grotesque translations have been the publishers. What a total waste of money, that parishes could ill afford. Sadly, we wont have parishes for much longer if the Bishop’s continue to ignore the flock, or to pander to the one who “kow tows” to them while the 99 wander off in search of real pastors who know their sheep and their needs. ### 1/5 — Complicated *2025-03-30, version 3.145* Very difficult to use and navigate. But updating it a few days ago with the 'voice-over' auto update was a mistake because now it crashes. Can't read the daily prayers at all. Also, the podcast is excellent and so are the books.
