## What is Unlimited Tuner?

A chromatic tuner built on a real pitch detection engine: the YIN algorithm from the research literature, implemented from scratch to hear the fundamental frequency rather than a harmonic. When there is a note, the needle is accurate to a fraction of a cent. When there is not, the display stays blank instead of guessing.

A DETECTOR YOU CAN TRUST

The full musical range, from the bottom of the piano (A0, 27.5 Hz) to the top (C8, 4186 Hz), including bass drop tunings, ukulele, violin, voice, and whistling.
Locked to the fundamental, so harmonic-rich tones like saxophone, strings, and synths read as the note you are actually playing, not the octave above or below.
Silence and room noise are filtered out, so a reading only appears when there is a real pitch to report.
Works with built-in microphones and professional audio interfaces up to 192 kHz.

A NEEDLE THAT HOLDS STILL

Small wobble is smoothed for readability while real note changes register instantly, with no lag and no jitter.
Notes on the boundary between two names do not flicker back and forth.
Plucked notes hold their reading long enough to actually read.

TUNE THE INSTRUMENT IN FRONT OF YOU

Guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, mandolin, and banjo, each with the tunings players actually use, or stay chromatic and it reads anything.
Alternate tunings built in: guitar Drop D, half and full step down, DADGAD, open G, D, and E, bass Drop D and five-string, and ukulele low G and baritone.
In an instrument tuning it snaps to the nearest string and tells you which one.
Capo and transposing instruments: B flat and E flat instruments read in their written pitch once you set the transposition. Only the displayed name moves; the measured pitch is exactly what the microphone heard.
Set the A4 reference anywhere from 415 Hz to 466 Hz, or return to 440 Hz with one tap.

HISTORICAL AND JUST TEMPERAMENTS

Equal, Just Intonation, Pythagorean, Quarter-comma Meantone, Werckmeister III, and Kirnberger III, each anchored to a tonic you choose and computed from exact ratios.
Leave it on Equal for the plain chromatic tuner you already trust.

PRACTICE WITH A METRONOME AND DRONE

Clicks are scheduled in the audio buffer itself rather than by a wall-clock timer, so the metronome does not drift or stutter. 30 to 300 BPM, 1 to 12 beats per bar with an accented downbeat, and quarter, eighth, triplet, or sixteenth subdivisions. Tap the tempo in if you do not know the BPM.
Hold a steady drone at any note and octave to practise intonation the way string and wind players train their ear. One tap sets the drone to the note you are holding, and you control the volume to blend it under your instrument.

CHOOSE HOW YOU SEE PITCH

The classic strobe readout, concentric bands that appear to stand still when in tune, for dialling a string in precisely. Switch between needle and strobe at any time.
A colour-coded cents display, a scrolling pitch history ribbon on iPhone and iPad, and a live harmonic spectrum view.
Haptic feedback on iPhone when you centre a note, full keyboard control on Mac, and VoiceOver throughout.

ONE PURCHASE, EVERY DEVICE

One purchase covers Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Every feature described here is in the app from the first launch: nothing is a paid upgrade and nothing is behind a subscription.

No account, no in-app purchases, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. Audio never leaves the microphone buffer. Nothing is recorded, nothing is stored, and nothing is sent anywhere.
