### 2/5 — Too Many Short Comings

*2025-12-31, version 1.2.2*

This app is very easy to use. I tried it out because my other app, the Open Source HandBrake have too many bells and whistles and I wanted something quick. Unfortunately, Unsqueeze have too many short comings, some of which are just unacceptable: 1. Not compatible with MacOS Quick Look feature; Quick Look offers a fast, full-size preview of nearly any kind of file without opening the file. 2. Unsqueeze is slower than Handbrake using MAC hardware encoding; 3. Unsqueeze does not handle any embedded chapter markers. They are all lost after the upscale encode. Too bad.

### 2/5 — licence

*2025-11-16, version 1.2.1*

Je viens d’acheter la licence et rien ne change ! Idem que la version gratuite..le menu pixel reste grisé…Que faire?

### 3/5 — Great upscaling app how ever….

*2025-05-05, version 1.2.1*

This app truly is a great upscaling App, but until recently 5/5/2025 I ran into an issue of upscaling video game recordings. I don’t know why but whenever I try to it cancels out and my phone vibrates like it’s “shaking its head no”. before this, I have had an issue with batch upscaling videos where they would duplicate instead of actually upscale as in I would have 17 or 18 video game clips for content, and after 6 of them, they would all duplicate and fill up those spots.

I use this almost all the time whenever I make content because I think it makes the videos look great. I truly love this app.

Developers, please get in contact with me. I also have a few ideas on options that you could add to the App!

### 3/5 — Free version great, 8K upscaling in paid version not good

*2025-01-21, version 1.1.0*

Upscaling a FullHD video to 4K with the free version worked well. So I purchased the paid version for 9.99 Euro. The upscale was processed quickly on an M4 Pro, however the video quality is not as good as with other upscalers and the output format is Apple ProRes. So my 4 minutes file got exported to a 86 Gigabyte file. I will ask for a refund.

### 4/5 — In-app purchase problem

*2025-01-15, version 1.1.0*

Love the app and I want to go beyond the free version, but I can’t seem to make an in-app purchase from my Mac.

### 4/5 — Does What It Says

*2024-12-17, version 1.1.0*

It does upscale content to 2K and does a fine job of preserving details but don’t expect it to enhance the visuals. The developer hasn’t claimed that it adds details so it’s a fine choice to change resolution but not what I’m looking for. Simple UI and relatively fast.

### 4/5 — Greatest upscaling app out there!

*2024-09-16*

I enjoy that it skips the subscription.

File sizes seem larger than equivalent counterparts.

Should support MV-HEVC files, right now it just crashes.

It would be nice to save to an external drive for temp files.

Overall great app.

### 2/5 — I don’t know

*2024-07-24, version 1.1.1*

### 2/5 — No Support

*2024-07-12, version 1.1.0*

Pointless trying to update through CleanMyMac X or asking for support, they don't answer your email.

### 3/5 — Don’t see any difference

*2024-07-03, version 1.1.1*

I’m using the iPad Pro 11 inch 2020. I don’t seem to see any difference in any of the videos that I tried to upscale. They look exactly the same.. what am I missing?

### 4/5 — Has Potential

*2024-03-15, version 1.1.0*

The app is great when it works but it still needs some fixes before it can really deliver. Right now it seems work well enough provided two conditions are true. The first is that the input file must be a video which is smaller in size (say a few MB vs. tens/hundreds of MB). Second, the output file must be not be 8K, and often times not 4K. If either of these isn’t true, the video will cease to be processed and the app must be re-installed to regain any function (closing and reopening doesn’t work). If these issues can be fixed then it’ll deliver real value.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2024-03-13, version 1.1.0*

This doesn't actually do anything. Every time you try to upscale to 8k it crashes.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t seem to upscale, just stretches

*2026-07-11, version 1.2.2*

Literally just stretches to the specified resolution. I put them side by side and saw no changes at all.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t actually improve quality

*2026-04-06, version 1.2.2*

Videos I’ve upscaled to 4K still look bad, low resolution and blurry. Please update your upscaling algorithm

### 1/5 — SCAM

*2025-02-12, version 1.2.0*

The app worked better when it was free. I bought it to upscale my video to the max setting and it wouldnt even start. $9 down the drain

### 1/5 — Scammy

*2024-12-06, version 1.2.0*

Works in that it makes the image larger without blurring but doesn’t do 8k and only crashes once it gets your money from you.

### 1/5 — TRASH SCAM

*2024-11-21, version 1.2.0*

Do not buy this SCAM! I paid and now it won’t let me actually change any videos. Just keeps freezing once the file is completed.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-11-09, version 1.2.0*

Can’t see any difference

### 1/5 — absolutely ridiculous! 😒

*2024-11-09, version 1.2.0*

it’s absolutely ridiculous the size of the gigabyte it takes just to improve the quality a video. my phone has 129 gigabyte of storage i made 2 videos using this app and my storage was full after improving the quality of 2 videos. 1 video i made to improve the quality of my video with this app was like 1.29 gigabyte 😳 like i said it’s absolutely ridiculous 😒 don’t get me wrong the app is great for improving the quality of video/s but the size of the gigabyte’s it takes just for improving the quality is absolutely ridiculous

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2024-08-29, version 1.1.1*

Every time the app finishes upscaling the video the app freezes and won’t let me save it, rendering it useless. Can’t speak on the quality of the upscaling since I can’t even view it

### 1/5 — Can’t upscale anything past 2K

*2024-07-02, version 1.1.1*

The app just keeps crashing each time I try 4K or more

### 1/5 — Not noticing a difference

*2024-03-13, version 1.1.0*

Not noticing a difference when upscaling spatial video

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Pure Gem

*2026-07-25, version 1.2.3*

So far no complaints works wonderfully

### 5/5 — Does the trick!

*2026-03-12, version 1.2.2*

This does exactly what it says it does, and it does it well.

### 5/5 — Yo

*2025-03-24, version 1.2.1*

Good

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2024-12-03, version 1.2.0*

It upscales, it doesn’t add details but the image will be larger without losing quality.

I believe that the “freezing” others mention is due to the lack of progress view when moving the file from the app to its final location.

On macOS you can actually see the destination file size growing while “frozen”. Once the file is done moving the freeze goes away.

The files can get to be really really really large. So you likely need some post processing to reduce size significantly.

### 5/5 — this app is a GAME CHANGER.

*2024-11-11, version 1.2.0*

I use this to upscale videos I make (which are usually quite low quality to save storage) but by using this it allows me to make things look crispier, AND have videos TAKE UP LESS STORAGE!? (depending on the upscale %) + ALL OF THIS FOR FREE. (forgot that there’s a subscription) BUT it’s completely optional!!!

### 5/5 — Free version great job upscaling to 4K

*2024-06-29, version 1.1.0*

I have tested the free version and have upscaled 1080p to 4K and it does a good job - I will continue to test on more video footage - so far so good.

### 5/5 — :|

*2024-06-19, version 1.1.1*

Ok

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2024-04-07, version 1.1.0*

Easy to use and it works as it should at a great price - thanks!

### 5/5 — Impressed

*2024-01-31, version 1.0.1*

Really impressed with the results and for such a reasonable price. It’s one of the uses for AI I can get behind.

### 5/5 — Seems to scale well

*2024-01-31*

Seems to upscale footage and retain quality.
