## What is Unum?

Unum is a civic literacy app that makes it easy to follow U.S. legislation and the members of Congress who represent you.
Track legislation that matters to you: Browse bills from the current congressional session, filter by policy area, and follow the ones you care about. See exactly how your representatives voted, who cosponsored a bill, and where it stands in the legislative process — from introduction to becoming law.
Follow your representatives: Browse all 538 members of Congress. View each official's sponsored bills, committee assignments, policy focus areas, and contact information. Add officials to your lists to track their activity.
Build your own civic feed: Create custom lists of bills and officials. Your lists become a personalized feed that surfaces updates whenever something changes — a new vote, a bill advancing through committee, or a new action from an official you follow.
Stay informed with notifications: Opt into push notifications for bills and officials you follow, by policy area, or by state delegation. Never miss a significant vote or legislative update.
Civics reference built in: New to how Congress works? Unum includes a built-in civics guide covering how a bill becomes a law, how to read legislation, how to contact your representative, and more.
Data sourced from the Congress.gov API (api.congress.gov), provided by the Library of Congress.
Unum is an independent civic education app built by Unum Initiative. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing any government entity. Unum is free, contains no ads, and never sells your data.

### 5/5 — Love this app!!

Fantastic app for tracking U.S. politics! The UI is incredibly clean and user-friendly. I especially love the reference articles that give quick summaries for the basics of U.S. politics. It’s a very handy tool that skips the extra fancy, useless features and focuses on exactly what’s practical and useful. Highly recommend by my fav coworker:)

### 5/5 — For both politically savvy and beginners

*2026-06-04*

Amazing to have so much information at our fingertips. Like the category of bills for specific interest. There’s a reference page that not only provides definition but education about the legislative processes. Would like to see a category for AI, Cybersecurity, and Data governance. Also a page for hottest topics at both the national and local/state specific level.

### 5/5 — Love this idea

Recommended to me by my husband, this reduces the overwhelming task of tracking down whats going on in the government & . One recommendation I would make is if there was a way in app to share a bill or the voting in the app with others.

### 5/5 — Game Changer!

*2026-05-29*

Prior to Unum’s launch I had always wanted to better understand the political landscape - whether it was the local, regional, state, or national political situation. I always felt most apps/alternative networks felt either biased to an extent or overwhelming to the average user. Unum has helped to demistify an otherwise intimating industry and helps me access and understand what’s going on around. Excited for what’s next!!

### 5/5 — Interactive UI
