Please code a running balance in smaller font that sits under each transaction in activity. Customer Service just explained I can go into statements to see this effect on my balance but I would like a dynamic balance that is moving under each and every transaction in activity. This is useful and requires less moving around in the APP to get necessary information. Other than that I’m enjoying the Up APP! Yes. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Pathetic Cam interface doesn’t focus *2026-08-03, version 4.1.6* so this fancy app only bank has a verification system within the app that DOES NOT focus on your id documents. Why ?? because the QA never tested it or else would have failed it. It doesn’t switch lenses to a macro shot but is a fixed focus lens that takes id doc pics in focus only if taken from a distance. so much for for fancy features when the app can’t even do basic photo capture. ### 1/5 — Contacts *2026-07-29, version 4.1.6* No ability to edit contacts ### 1/5 — Poor onboarding and dismissive complaint handling *2026-07-28, version 4.1.6* I spent around 30 minutes attempting to open an Up account before reaching the identity-verification stage and discovering that Up accepts only an Australian driver’s licence or passport. A current government-issued Proof of Age card is not accepted, and no alternative verification pathway is available. My bigger issue was the complaint response. Support referred me back to an email explaining the restriction—an email sent only after I had already encountered the problem and contacted them. They then suggested I had been informed and “went ahead with the signup,” which completely misrepresented the sequence of events and felt unnecessarily defensive and patronising. Up eventually deleted my incomplete applications as requested, but the experience showed poor upfront disclosure, inaccessible onboarding, and complaint handling focused more on defending the process than understanding the customer’s concern. ### 1/5 — Really difficult to recover account *2026-07-26, version 4.1.5* Lost my card overseas. Could not receive recovery code on my number while overseas. Had to change phone number to a friend’s still in Australia. Since then have never been able to access my account. App is TERRIBLE. If you navigate out of app to retrieve recovery code, you will not be able to return to enter recovery code. Online assistance is useless. They just repeat information in the app and tell you they can’t help more. If I ever manage to get my money back it’s gonna be bye-bye Up (yours) Bank. ### 1/5 — False & misleading *2026-07-22, version 4.1.5* This app, although advertised under budgeting apps IS NOT a budgeting app by any means. The premise that this is a budgeting app is false and misleading. Having this app placed in the budget section of apps is nothing short of fraudulent. It’s a BANK app and a pretty useless one at that. Highly NOT recommended. There are some really unintuitive things about this app like where to find account details and card details etc. Why does it look like an insignificant settings menu? They make a big show of something like their merch but member discounts and perks is hidden at the bottom. I’m tired of the app interface and they need to update it so it’s more about the customer, their details and their experience and less about Up and how amazing and innovative they are… ### 1/5 — Not trusted as digital bank anymore *2026-06-16, version 4.1.3* Have been using the app and their services for few years; but today got notice about account closure. Used account for paying online purchases, services and utilities. I assume their appetite bigger than mine and perhaps they want see more transactions and deeper service consumptions than mine. Unfortunately I do not recommend them today. After all I switched to Revolut. The savers help me budget every week, and using features like pay splitting make sure that I stay disciplined. The support is top-notch in chat and the lack of AI is so refreshing when looking at the customer service of other banks. If you’re looking for a way that you can manage your funds 10x better. And i will tell this story to anyone and everyone who ever talks money or asks about the bank I use I set my budget. split my pay automatically into multiple savings accounts to reflect that budget and then I have auto covers that take the money from the relevant saver (for example filling up fuel from a servo comes from my fuel account automatically) In the past it was the moving money between savers what made budgets come undone for me.
