### 3/5 — Accessability concerns

*2025-06-15*

There are accessibility issues with this app if you are using VoiceOver. For example, many times things will repeat two or three times as you’re going through the app, there are several unlabeled buttons in the mood journal, and I think there are also some buttons that cannot be activated independently when you use voiceover. The app could be a very good mental health tool but with the accessibility bugs it can be more of a stressor than a help sometimes.

### 2/5 — disappointed:/

*2024-10-17*

unfortunately it’s one of those apps that cash in on your mental health by asking you to pay for it, the best and most effective aides/strategies for dealing with mental health in the app are of course needed to be bought. i came to this app expecting some help with my depression but i needed to “subscribe” in order for that to happen.

### 3/5 — Glitch

*2023-02-24, version 1.1.14*

It’s a great app, but unfortuantly half the time I try to make an entry, I get a blank screen

### 2/5 — Bugged to the point of being unusable

*2022-05-01*

Can’t use most of the app. Blank screens, connection error messages, inescapable loops of “tap-to-open-the-thing-to-try-to-open-it-get-notification-tap-ok-return-to-thing-tap-the-thing-to-try-to-open-it…” Frustrating. Trying to use this app almost always makes me feel worse, not better. Maybe the content is good. I wouldn’t know.

### 3/5 — App glitch

*2021-06-20, version 1.1.9*

I did not finish the introduction part and then the application froze. I’m trying to uninstall and reinstall and will update review with progress.

### 3/5 — 😔

*2021-06-07, version 1.1.9*

Honestly the app seems great, good for people with mental problems and also handy for anyone too anxious to go get therapy so they use this app instead but personally I got this app feeling really mentally unwell just wanted some sort of help. So I got this app. I started it and answered all the questions at the begginning and the app telling me how we will get me back once a week. I felt motivated, and hopeful. Well until I saw the cost. As a 13 year old unhappy girl, I just guess I'm disappointed with the fact we have to pay for this mental help, that I can't get any other way because me family brush it off as a "phase". My dad is willing to give me a £15 app store gift cards every so often so I was willing to pay £6 a month. But discoverd that isn't possible. So now I'm annoyed. It really did seem like a grey app too😔

### 2/5 — Charged me a day early

*2021-06-05*

I did a 7 day trial to see how I’d like it. On the seventh day I went to cancel my subscription and I found it had charged me before the day was over. Now I’m out like $60 bucks or whatever it was

**Developer response:** Oh no, I'm sorry this happened! Apple is responsible for this charge, but you can still request a refund from them, please see this support article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084.

If Apple denies the refund request, please contact us at support@uplift.app and we will be sure you get your money back!

### 2/5 — Mental health....?

*2021-05-26*

I downloaded this app to see if it’s good for my boyfriend, he is going through some stuff right now and I’m not yet sure that it’s depression yet but it won’t hurt to try. As soon as I sign up and everything, I was asked to subscribe....? For one no, i just wanted positivity in his life when he thinks there isn’t any. Also shouldn’t mental health help be free...? Could be just me but I think it should. I’m so disappointed in this world!

**Developer response:** Oh no, I'm sorry you had a bad experience! There is a premium version of UpLift, which helps support our small team and keeps our operations afloat. If you scroll down on the paywall, there is a "Not now" option - which will allow you to skip the subscription. Many tools and resources are available for free. Please reach out to us to talk about options if you'd like to try the premium version and have financial hardship.

As far as other mental health options being free, unfortunately that is not the case in the United States. However, you can often access mental health services through your insurance. You can also find free or reduced options through county mental health centers, student therapists at universities, and through religious or charitable organizations. Support groups and group therapy can also be good options. The "Find Support" section in the Tools tab of UpLift can help you get more ideas.

### 1/5 — Does not work at all.

*2020-11-15*

I could not login this morning, it did not recognize my login credentials through Apple although I have a year subscription for $70. Then I found an screen that let me ‘restore purchases’ and that let me at least see some screens, but all my data was lost, the setting screen is a white block with no content (had to force close) and all other content is locked. For what I am paying this is really unacceptable. I have less access than someone who is using the free option.

I will update my review once this is addressed.

### 1/5 — Not worth the Money

*2020-10-26, version 1.0.27*

Got this app some time ago and forgot to cancel before the free trial was up. Ended up spending $70 on an app I used maybe twice, really wasn’t helpful and just overall not what I expected.

### 3/5 — Idrk

*2020-09-08, version 1.0.19*

It’s a nice game but it just bothers me that you have to pay to be happy and not have anxiety or be depressed in my personal opinion happiness should be free🥰

### 2/5 — Just kicks me out.

*2020-08-26*

Ugh! When I open the app, I do everything when you first get it, and then I press "Commit to My Plan" or whatever. And then it kicks me off. I can't say much for this review because I CANT EVEN GET STARTED! 😡 It could just be my phone, but PLEASE fix this!!

I really hope you try to fix this! I really hope it's an awesome app, but how it's going right now, it's not working. Thank you for your time.

**Developer response:** We're so sorry about that! We've fixed this bug in the latest update. We hope you give us another try and if you have any further issues, we'd love to help you via email at support@uplift.app.

### 2/5 — So much for that!

*2020-08-23, version 1.0.18*

The only thing you get out of the free session included before you pay $69.99 for the remaining sessions is a screening and advice to contact a counselor or therapist for any serious symptoms. It’s hard to tell if it’s worth buying when you can’t access any of the content.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Seems broken

*2023-12-05, version 1.1.14*

Can’t get past the introduction, app just seems not functional.

### 1/5 — Don’t help the researchers for this app

*2023-09-25, version 1.1.14*

I was asked to help researchers by using the app and was never paid. They basically got free data for their glitchy app. Don’t use if directed by a research team. They DO NOT pay you!

### 1/5 — No Customer Service

*2022-07-27, version 1.1.12*

Tried to reach out to resolve a billing issue - have never heard back. Seems like there’s no way to reach anyone & once they have your money - they’re happy to be unreachable.

### 1/5 — Tedious and Useless

*2022-02-18, version 1.1.12*

The only part that made me feel better was when I deleted it.

### 1/5 — Intrusive, glib, and disregards input

*2021-12-03*

This app is not designed for people who have problems that exist outside their own thoughts. It’s definitely not trauma-informed, and has no way to support people who try the exposure therapy it recommends. It doesn’t even have a way to determine what kinds of things a person is avoiding, yet still recommends exposure therapy.

The responses from the program are not help and disregard user’s answers.

I’m trying to live gracefully with a painful, degenerative illness.

This app is NOT:

-Trauma informed

-Considerate of people with disabilities or living with other extreme circumstances such as abuse, civil unrest, or poverty.

-Designed to give an appropriate response to input. Regardless of how you respond, it gives unhelpful prompts assuming your emotions are based on a “thought error.” Claims (sans source) that the majority of all low moods are based on thought errors. Based on what peer reviewed studies?

This app does:

-Make fun of you for having a low mood. It’s response to me feeling low today because I received devastating medical news was, “Did you call out of work today and stare at a piece of corn on the floor?” Then implored me to find the thought error on which my mood is based after I answered twice that my low mood is NOT based on a thought error.

-Continue sending prompts after I deleted the app.

### 1/5 — No support

*2021-11-09, version 1.1.11*

I loved the app but couldn’t access the sessions due to a glitch. I reached out to App support twice via email, the App Store, and on their social media page. No response. Download only if you really like throwing away $99.

### 1/5 — No contact support whatsoever!!!!

*2021-10-16*

I like the layout and how this app is supposed to guide you through CBT. I paid for the premium subscription to access all features and was really excited to get started! But there were a few app issues I would run into (like not being able to proceed to the next module after finishing the one). I emailed the support email multiple times with no replies for assistance with the issue. So after 2 weeks I canceled my subscription and deleted the app. Shame.

### 1/5 — Advertised as free, still required payment info

*2021-04-24, version 1.1.9*

Title says it all. Let me try the app without being forced to give you money!!

### 1/5 — Worthless “trial”

*2021-02-16*

Signed up 2 days ago for the free 7 day trial but all the features are still locked. I’ve deleted and redownloaded, signed out and signed back in, cancelled subscription and then resigned up. Nothing. Either it’s a major tech glitch or a worthless scammy trial, but either case isn’t good. What’s the point of a 7 day trial if you can’t even test out the app except for a dumb “mood journal”?

**Developer response:** This sounds like a bug! Please email us at support@uplift.app and we can help you through this and extend your trial.

### 1/5 — This app can be deceitful - and I want my $70 back

*2021-02-04*

I have been trying things to improve my mental health because I’ve been struggling. I tried this app on top of seeing a therapist.
I did the free trial, really hoping to be able to see in that time if this would be useful for me. If it was, I’d have no hesitation in paying for it.

The first day, it asked me a few very brief questions. Then a day or two later, I got a push notification to answer a few more questions. It was again brief, and the little slides it had me read were fine, but nothing that couldn’t be found elsewhere easily for free.
Then it said that it’s best to wait a few days before “meeting” again. I would have preferred to get into it more, sooner, knowing the clock was ticking on my free trial. I agreed to have the app check in with me in 2 days.
However, the app never checked in again. And when I realized it, and decided the app wasn’t worth my $$, it was on the very day my 7 day trial ended, and I had been charged $70.
I have no real understanding of what I’m paying for because so far it just seems like some mental health tips you could find with a quick google search. If there is more, this app did a terrible job of illustrating that in the 7 day period.

If the app is going to suggest taking days off in between sessions, then the trial period needs to last longer to give people a real understanding of what they are paying for.
And it might have been a fluke, but the fact that the app never “checked in” just makes me feel like I got a bit conned.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your comments. That is definitely a fluke that the app never checked in with you! Please reach out to us at support@uplift.app and we'll be able to investigate this further and make sure you receive a refund.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So so helpful

*2021-08-07*

This app is really incredible. I don’t have enough good things to say about it. This is the first review I'm writing for an app, that says a lot for me! It’s been helping me tremendously as I navigate through a lot right now. Thank you to everyone who contributed tomaking this happen. I hope many people get to use it and see their days getting better.

### 5/5 — Finally - An app that gets it right!

*2020-11-14*

I’ve used every CBT app on iOS. Uplift is different because it starts where someone would need to start. Also, it’s not predictable. There is structure built in in a linear way. So all you have to do is focus on the work and not the app. I hope they make more apps like this one. Well done! A+ (and that says a lot coming from me, trust me)

### 5/5 — Love!!!

*2020-11-13*

I love love love this app!!! I haven’t even paid for the premium yet and I still get so much out of it! Am definitely going to upgrade soon! So worth it!

### 5/5 — Login

*2020-10-06*

I love this app and I would give it five stars however I’m having an issue logging in. Once I enter the information and pressed sign in it would freeze and not log me in.

**Developer response:** We're so sorry this happened to you! This is a recent bug that affected a few users - we're working hard to fix the issue so it doesn't happen again. If you haven't gotten very far, you can just create a new account. If you have, please get in touch with us at support@uplift.app, so that we can get you back in while making sure to preserve your existing data.

### 5/5 — Living with Depression since Childhood

*2020-09-30*

TL;DR: the app is based on science that works, is easy to use, effective, and app creators are very helpful.

As the title states, I have been living with depression since childhood. I finally got help in my early 20’s in the form of medication and I attended therapy for 3 years. The combination worked for me. Almost 10 years later, I am still on medication and my lows do not get nearly as low as they did without meds. I am finishing my masters degree in counseling, I work, and I am a single mother to an awesome teen. Life should be great, but depression is a tricky beast. I’ve been struggling with low moods, lack of joy, and irritability. Being in isolation since March during a global pandemic, political upheaval, and environmental chaos is enough to make anyone feel down. So I found this app.
So far, I have completed 4 chapters/lessons and they have really helped me to separate myself from symptoms of depression. Having lived with depression for pretty much my entire life, it’s easy to assume that these feelings are my personality. But they’re not. They are symptoms of a mental health issue which can be overcome. The app is based on CBT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is effective in treating depression. It’s been helping me. I feel more like myself than I have in quite a long time. I’m very grateful and I suggest this app to anyone who is struggling with depression and/or anxiety and is ready to learn how to make changes to feel better. If you read this far, you’re a rockstar! I wish you well on your journey.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words! They're especially meaningful coming from someone working on a degree in counseling! We wish you the best of luck with your degree and your practice.

### 5/5 — Do you need help, support encouragement?

*2020-09-27, version 1.0.23*

I do and did and likely always will this works to make me aware of when to call my therapist or MD and tools for uplifting my sad bad angry moods⭐️🙏🏼💜👍

### 5/5 — Educational, applicable and responsive

*2020-08-14*

I like how responsive this app is to what you’re writing. It suggests advice or info that relates to the info you enter. Offers easily applicable suggestions that are helpful and practical, and gives many options so you can do what feels most comfortable. It’s also very patient and suggests you take your time with each exercise.

### 5/5 — It does so many things

*2020-08-03*

Where can I begin with this app. I came into it skeptical, really. But after my first good long session? I was wowed at how seriously and how in depth UpLift tackles depression and anxiety. And gives you tools to combat it.

The price point was difficult for me; my mental health conditions leave me disabled so I’m on a fixed income. I was able to work something out with the team that we were both happy with, and I couldn’t have done it if they hadn’t been transparent in a reply to another review. This is a caring company that wants to genuinely help people improve their mental health.

So if you can, buy the sub, it’s worth it. You get real CBT lessons, mood boosters, a mood journal, a tool that tracks your triggers, and much more I haven’t unlocked yet!

If you have doubts, contact UpLift, they’ll happily talk to you about how it works and keeps working even after the last session.

Space your sessions out like you would normal therapy so you have time to do the homework they give you! Don’t worry, it’s good homework. :)

Try this app even if you’re skeptical like me. Be the end of the trial, you’ll love it or hate it. And I think you’ll love it if you’re really in need of a lift.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the kind words! We're so glad you're finding UpLift helpful.

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2020-08-03*

I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for more than a year. This app has been helpful for reframing my thoughts and alleviating some symptoms. The owners have been very kind and supportive when I emailed a question to them.

**Developer response:** We're so glad UpLift has helped you make some progress! We hope you continue to find it helpful!

### 5/5 — Really worth it

*2020-07-01*

It’s only been three days but already my mood is remarkably better. Four days ago I couldn’t get out of bed. Today I was able to get out and be productive and it didn’t feel like a monumental effort, it was just normal and good. I feel better than I have in weeks. I really appreciate being able to set your own check ins and being able to use the app any time, when you really need to. Very worth the money and truly useful.
