### 3/5 — Français

*2026-07-03*

une version français SVP !!

### 4/5 — Langues offertes

*2026-06-10*

### 4/5 — Nearly Perfect

*2026-06-09*

If you are a refugee from 1PW’s price increase, then the combination of Apple Passwords and Uplock will give you nearly all the functionality that 1PW had. Unfortunately, Uplock only has an extension for Safari, so if you prefer to use another browser you won’t be autofilling your credit card details, which can be stored in Uplock. Now Apple has made iCloud Password extensions for Firefox and Chrome, so it would make sense for Uplock to do the same. Another thing to be aware of is that the free version of Uplock will not let you edit an entry, you have to subscribe to be able to do that (but at least it’s cheaper than 1PW!)

### 4/5 — Une alternative à 1Password v7 Standalone

*2026-05-26*

### 3/5 — Could be good

*2026-05-03*

I saw the headline “NEW! AutoFill”, and though I could finally ditch 1password, which autofills passwords AND credit cards. I didn’t read the fine print—Autofill is available only with Safari, which I don’t use. Sadly, Unlock is pretty useless for me, as without Autofill it’s doesn’t really do much beyond the standard Passwords app.

### 4/5 — Great App - Should Not Be A Subscription

*2026-04-15*

The app syncs entirely through iCloud and they do not host their own servers. Everything is either locally on-device or on iCloud. So why should I need to pay monthly for this? I would gladly pay a small one-time fee (not $50, that's insane) but there is no technical need to have this be a continual subscription.

Since there is no technical need to have this be a subscription, it appears to violate 3.1.2(a) "Permissible uses" of Apple's App Review Guidelines.

According to Apple, "examples of appropriate subscriptions include: new game levels; episodic content; multiplayer support; apps that offer consistent, substantive updates; access to large collections of, or continually updated, media content; software as a service (“SAAS”); and cloud support."

### 4/5 — Great app, fix the name

*2025-12-31*

Coming from 1Password to Apple Passwords, I needed something to handle all those items that are not passwords, which 1P handled so well.

Uplock does this beautifully, mimicking the Apple Password app style, and keeps my data in iCloud which I appreciate.

My one request: since being renamed from Access to Uplock, the app is still only searchable with Spotlight under the Access name (on MacOS, iOS is fine); be nice if the developer would fix that so we have consistency.

Also, the Help menu needs to be finished. Nobody wants to see “No help is available”. Remove it, or make it work. As a coder, this stuff drives me NUTS. The product is over a year old, no reason not to have at least a way of contacting the developer via the help menu.

### 5/5 — Developer responsive to feedback

*2025-12-03, version 3.1.6*

I contacted the developer about a vision accessibility issue and they fixed it.

### 5/5 — Overpriced garbage

*2025-11-30, version 3.1.5*

A password manager without a password manager. You can use dozens of other apps that do this better and cheaper. Devs are also narcissists with a god complex.

### 5/5 — Totally worth it

*2025-11-26*

I really like how it’s so much more than just a password saver. It’s great for keeping copies of my ID and documents totally secure. The Autofill works perfectly and knowing everything is safely synced through my own iCloud is a huge relief.

### 3/5 — BANKROLLSHOW VEGASMADEE

*2025-10-30, version 3.1.4*

BANKROLLSHOW VEGASMADEE

### 5/5 — A perfect compliment to Apple Passwords

*2025-10-28, version 3.1.4*

Really appreciate this app filling in the gaps between Apple Passwords and my previous 1Password app. Super responsive developer and the enhancements keep coming!

### 3/5 — No reason for this to be a subscription…

*2025-10-01*

…because it uses iCloud sync, not it’s own servers. Plus it’s impossible to find pricing for Uplock on the App Store or on the website; you have to actually click the upgrade button to learn how much it costs and that it’s not a one-time charge but a subscription. If it were a $20 buy once own it forever I’d probably buy it today.

### 4/5 — Very cool

*2025-09-25*

Cool app but needs ability to reorder attachments, copy attachments to clipboard, and export cards to Apple Wallet.

### 5/5 — Secure and Simple Data Locker

*2025-09-22, version 3.1*

Uplock makes it easy to store and protect your important IDs and cards. With full encryption and no account needed, it’s private, simple, and reliable.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — En anglais seulement

*2026-06-23*

### 1/5 — White print on light blue impossible to read

*2025-10-07, version 3.1.2*

I have a vision issue and find white text on light blue impossible to read, so can read the “selected” item

### 1/5 — Not a Passwords companion

*2024-11-28, version 2.2*

If entries in Access were linked to the corresponding Passwords entry it would be a companion app. But there is no linkage, so 1Password is a better companion. Use Passwords for simple sites, use 1Password where additional data is needed. IOS sorts it out.

### 1/5 — Very confusing app

*2024-10-08, version 2.0.3*

This app bills itself as ‘pairs perfectly with Passwords on macOS’ but there appears to be no integration with the Passwords app, no manual, no instructions or anything helpful I could find. I subscribed to the Monthly plan because I couldn’t see how I could do anything and thought maybe you needed to be subscribed for the app to work. Anyway, I’ve had a very disappointing first run of the app and I’m tempted to just delete it even though I’ve just paid for a month.

### 1/5 — Can't import files

*2024-09-25, version 2.0.2*

There doesn't appear to be anyway to import passwords from another app. And so far, no response from any help team.

### 1/5 — Limited Functionality for Document Storage

*2024-07-14, version 1.0.2*

Access app provides a secure platform for storing sensitive information like credit card and bank details. The app offers a small note-taking window, which can be useful for quick entries. However, its functionality is significantly limited when it comes to file management.
A major drawback is the absence of a feature to upload and store text files or documents. This omission restricts the app's versatility, especially for users who need to securely store a variety of file types alongside their financial information.
While Access excels in its core function of safeguarding critical data, the lack of file upload capabilities may be a dealbreaker for users seeking a more comprehensive information management solution. This limitation should be considered by potential users who require a more robust document storage feature in addition to secure credential management.

### 2/5 — Version en français

*2026-06-10*

### 2/5 — Unstable, missing functionality, not sure if trustworthy.

*2026-02-16*

App seems promising and the reviews are great. Unfortunately I found a major bug about 30 seconds into it that crashes the app completely if you do the following: Open Settings > General, Toggle on Lock Uplock, Require Touch ID, select any option other than Only on Launch, Toggle on Show in Menu Bar and Keep in Menu Bar, Close the Settings window and main window, Click the menu bar icon and click the restore main window button… CRASH! Apart from it being annoying it also makes the app insecure. There is some sort of disconnect with the menu bar functionality.

I am giving it 2 stars for now and have sent in a bug report via email. Let’s see if that gets fixed. I find it also frustrating that there isn’t a place other than email to send in feedback. Also there’s no Help under the Help menu. "Help isn’t available for Uplock.” isn’t acceptable. The app feels half-baked because of these issues.

**Developer response:** Hello,

Thank you for the detailed feedback, and we’re sorry about the issues you ran into with Uplock 3.1.6.

The crash you described has since been addressed in Uplock 3.2 release. We’d really appreciate it if you could retest with the latest version and reconsider your rating if things are now working as expected.

If anything still feels off or remains unresolved, please get back to us at support@uplock.app. Reports like yours are genuinely helpful and help us improve the app faster.

We also hear your point about support and in-app help. That is an area we know needs improvement, and we’re actively working on it.

Thanks again for taking the time to write this up and for giving Uplock a try.

Kind regards,
Andre
Uplock team

### 2/5 — From diamond to coal..

*2025-09-16, version 3.1*

Well, used to like Access, not sure why the name was changed to “Uplock” but it’s a horrible name (makes me wan to upchuck). UI is now the big ugly “Liquid Glass”. Not an improvement if you ask me. Disappointed.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Français

*2026-07-26*

### 5/5 — Perfect companion app to Apple Passwords

*2026-07-24*

Uplock brings all the functionality missing from Apple Passwords; the combination of the two makes the perfect password manager for Apple devices. Perfectly matches Apple’s design language, intuitive workflows, and an extensive variety of document categories to save.

### 5/5 — Incredible companion to Apple Passwords

*2026-06-25*

Exceptional attention to detail. Feels like a natural extension of Apple's ecosystem.

### 5/5 — The Perfect Companion to Apple Passwords

*2026-06-20*

Apple Passwords does, well, passwords. But what about payment cards, bank accounts, passports, software licenses, etc.? Unlock stores everything except for passwords and behaves exactly like Apple Passwords so there’s no learning curve. You’d be insane not to get it.

### 5/5 — Excellent, F subscriptions

*2026-06-15*

So it’s a secure text app that has premade forms. It’s a thing that’s missing from the Passwords app. It’s attractive and presumably well made. Beyond that, no functionality. They say it does have autofill, and I have that turned on, but it has not offered to autofill anything for me.

Sorry, but I’m not putting these nice folks on my personal payroll for a simple utility that just stores text. I’m also not paying $50 for a one-time license. It would need to have some useful functionality to justify that cost. I’m okay using the free five record limit until Apple Sherlocks it, or until I catch the one-time license at half off. It’s a sweet little app, but it ought to be a no-brainer cost.

**Developer response:** Hello,

Thank you for the honest review and for giving Uplock a try.

We’re happy to hear that you find Uplock simple. Familiarity, purpose, and simplicity are core design principles for us, and we want Uplock to feel approachable and effortless, even as the app continues to grow and evolve.

We completely understand that everyone has a different perspective on software pricing. As a tiny two-person independent team, subscriptions help us continue developing, supporting, and improving the app over the long term. We do our best to keep our pricing competitive and to offer both subscription and lifetime options, so people can choose what works best for them. We also believe your data should remain yours, which is why we do not version-lock our users, and also allow exports at any time.

Thanks again for the kind words. We put a lot of care into delivering the best possible experience on every platform and are working hard to make Uplock better with every release.

Andre & Simon

### 5/5 — Multi langue

*2026-06-10*

### 5/5 — Excellent, F subscriptions

*2026-05-26*

So basically it’s a secure text app that has some premade forms. It’s what’s missing from the Passwords app. But I’m not putting these nice folks on my personal payroll for a simple little app that a bright high school sophomore could make. I’m not paying $50 for a one-time license either. So I’m using the five record limit until Apple Sherlocks it, or until I catch the one-time license at half off. It’s just a matter of time before it gets Sherlock’s or someone duplicates it for a lot less.

### 5/5 — Looks Promising

*2026-05-12*

I have been using a Vault’ for some years and only discovered its sync/backup wasn’t useful when my phone bricked and I had to reinstall.
Looked at the options available now and 2apps checked all the boxes. This is No. 1, so it’s getting the first opportunity to prove its merits. Bonus that its indie Canadian developers, eh!

### 5/5 — Super, merci!

*2026-03-01*

Fast, available on all devices, user friendly, simple yet has all the functionality you need.

### 5/5 — Excellent product fills the gap

*2026-02-17*

Found this by accident and couldn’t be happier. Apple passwords has a couple of huge holes that this fills completely! Having secure notes with images is exactly what the commercial password managers offer. Getting Uplock with Apple means I have a secure icloud environment easily managed and shared as I choose. Developers are extremely responsive. Absolutely worth trying if you use apple passwords.
